Sochi played host the 2014 Winter Olympics and is a stark example of just how divided modern Russia how become in the 21st Century in terms of wealth.

Oh lord, khinkaliiiiiiiii. So delicious. Found a place in Chicago near my sister’s and it’s just not the same! We also found a Georgian restaurant in Portugal a few years back and were blown away each khinkali was more than a euro. Bonkers. Such a wonderful comfort food. Btw, if you go to Georgia soon and need any tips, feel free to ask! Depending on when you go there’s also an annual dolma festival in Tbilisi. Super enjoyable.

I know your vlog is for travel, not history, but it's important to know that Krasnaya Polyana was the site of a mass genocide of the native Circassian population in 1864. Large numbers of this population were either murdered by the Russian military (and Cossacks) or forced out of Russia to save their lives. That the history of the oppression of people of the Northern Caucasus is very similar to that of Native Americans. The Russian government continues to refuse to even acknowledge that these events happened.

Definitely important to know! 😊 That’s something we definitely didn’t know, so thank you for bringing it the light! We know and have read a lot on the history of many the other North Caucasus republics but the history of the Circassian people is something we both weren’t aware of! This region has such an incredibly complex and troubled history. As much as our channel is travel we like to include history and information where we know it and this would have been something we most definitely would have mentioned. Unfortunately Governments all round the World have a history of committing acts of oppression and then point blank refusing they ever happened. Thank you again for bringing it to light 🙏🏼☺️

I am Turkey Circassian.Thank you for bringing up this topic.Russia massacred 1 milion Circassians and the rest are exiled. There are about 3-4 milion Circassians living in Turkey . I always feel sorry when I hear the name sochi,It was once the Circassian capital.I hope the whole world will recognize this genocide.

Наперли всякую хрень типа витонов и ролексов а халатик с перламутровыми пуговицами так и не завезли В советское время Сочи был намного очаровательнее и Адлер и свободное пересечение в Абхазию и все все было намного сердечнее и прекраснее

Всю жизнь ..Кавказам были ...даже Главный Кавказский хребет в горах..через нас проходит...дальше только Абхазия , Грузия и Иран...! И тут вдруг ...нас..,,товарищ ,, Ткачев к Кубанцам причисляет...! И стали вдруг ..жители Кавказа..КУБАНОЙДАМИ..... Приравняли нас к колхозне Кубанской... представляете опустили как внаглую...никого не спросив..))

Krasnaya Polyana is a million X better than Sochi and has lots of good accommodations because of the Winter Olympics they had. Don’t waste time going to Sochi. Fly to Adler and go straight up to Krasnaya Polyana.
