I'm glad you're reporting about this. I was there a year ago and it's unbelievable how in your face criminal corrupt and dangerous it is, and the scale of it is huge. Pure evil there...
It does provide jobs for local population with jobs it isn't much a different from a capitalistic corporations and it's business model. Of demand and supply.
Are you talking about the government..... cause that shit is happening everywhere.... look at America's government it's the biggest criminal Empire that has ever existed....
what you talkin about. i was invited to visit some of the casino resorts owned by my chinese friends and we were sippin bubbly and gambling with my other friends who are royal members of thailand and cambodia and we were having a blast. #richmotherfuckingbishvibe #nopeasants #livinlarge #keepinit100
I lived in the Shan state for 3 years and see all the things happening there I know very well. Every one gets their shares that's why no one try to stop it.
whàt is double standard .. the entire world got the supply of drug estacy from here . On the surface it is illegal , when undertable is pay to them , it become legal , it has been on going for 50 years. monkey business , corruption , bribery , the D is the main biz , the rest is camoflush , cover up
Border towns in Laos and Myanmar operate on Chinese power and communications networks. All the Chinese government has to do is to shut down their network.
Amazing short documentary, I was doing a touristy trip to the Golden Triangle not so long ago and was wondering how this casino environment got so developed in this particular area... als what was up with the Chinese signs... well I guess I understand now
I guess those money get laundry in China. That's why we see so many new rich Chinese in Thailand doing business where local police turns blind eye or they have no concrete evidences to catch them.
The US movie American Gangster, tells about black crime boss Frank Lucas, who smuggled Heroin from the Golden Triangle to New York, from 1968 onward. This is hardly a new thing for the region.
Ok we gonna talk about real life. Machine Gun Johnny from the flying dragons Chinatown gang of New York introduced the China White and the heroin trade exploded in imports of it. What you say is a move my reference is real life
all the neighbouring countries , as transit point for human trafficking ( all organs are for sale ) , valuable human parts , tourist never know they r @ danger , things are cheap
I tried finding online a way to book a hotel at this casino and seems impossible even Tripadvisor came up empty . Seems like this place is even less popular then North Korea for tourists How do they make money without anyone going there ?
You must be either Chinese or be accepted by the Chinese Drug lord himself before you can enter it's gates. Just rode a bicycle past it on a long tour. Spent some time in Tompheung meeting the workers in the camps outside it. It's absolutely disgusting what is going on in there. jing jing, na.
they dont want your money. they only wash their own money. its not a good idea to go on holiday there bro. this dudes are ruthless criminals, you might even be abducted to do scams for them.
@@abdulfattah4276 You can't get in. I just finished a bicycle trip from Chainag Mai to Bankgkok and spent quite a bit of time in the triangle on the Lao side in Bokeo. Spoke with many people in the work camps outside the gates, then continued up the river for many days on muddy tracks in the heart of it. Met traffickers on the river north of that infernal Chinese city from hell. You can go near it but cannot enter unless you are Chinese or get permission from their ruthless leader there. With the traffickers on the river north, we never talked about anything. They just thought i was some weird goon on a bicycle lost. Weird goon but not lost most of the time. They let me pass without issue, covered in mud and thrashing, they knew I was no threat. There are no foreigners up there, i was on a burly mountain bike with my tent and such, the only way up river as they have stopped boats going north of Tompheung and Bang Mom, to keep it running. Wild place but the local tribes were great as always. Did I get lucky? I don't know but I won't go back. I've been up there a few times over the last 24 years, my favorite country to ride, until now. It is some of the best bike packing in Asia. I learned a lot of the real destruction by the hands of the Chinese mafia there. It's far worse than anyone understands and the local Lao and Burmese are paying for it with their lives. Brutal end times for many in Bokeo. Very very sad to see what I've seen in the last months. It broke my heart to see it first hand.
You can go there, but no online booking. Bring Yuen with you. Watch your back. You will be surrounded by wolves. There are no laws there so don't give anyone a reason to hurt you, because they will, and they will get away with it.
theres really no reason for "sightseeing" there, its a concrete jungle. Only reason to go is if you want to gain contacts in the underworld or you want to gamble. @@dtawantawng5131
I lived in Southeast Asia for eleven years. All over. Seen many crazy things. Much animal abuse too. Which really bothered me. Most of Asia doesn’t respect animals. It’s horrible. No conscience. Not sure if I’ll ever go back.
What joke - you will never eliminate these illegal activities - politicians and police work hand in hand to perpetuate these activities - why pure greed
Sihanoukville in Cambodia is/was the same; Chinese built casinos everywhere, Chinese language signs everywhere. I was there is 2017 and it was horrible. I think the Cambodian Govt have put limits on development since then and got rid of some of the more dodgy operators.
They got a share for that both Govt Military and also armed groups near them . Thats why now they fight each other . those armed groups want to fully control on these area .
Love your work. I am writing a short story about the region. It's scifi, but real places and situations make y story so much richer. I hope that someday more people will learn about this issue. It seems to me that it will follow the path of Miami. New buildings, bars, businesses and then buying/making their own banks. Then, perhaps, the governments. I found your video because I'm doing research. Wow.
Yeah what do you think about what you just seen. These guys don't care about what you think. This is just another reminder that you will never stop this.
Shouldn’t the Americans focus their attention to the crimes such as human trafficking, prostitution, and drug and gun running between their borders with Mexico before sticking their noses in someone else’s business?
It's all because the west don't like the so called Chinese influence. But if that was a western project in northern Laos no one will call it a criminal activity. Gambling is big business in Macau and in Las Vegas. And no one talk negatively about gambling in the west. Double standard.
Not about gambling, but the monry laundering. Las vegas, macau, monaco, singapore, genting have AML SOP, Laos doesn't. Even CCP cracked down money laundering of mainland chinese in macau.
They need to get rid of this criminal kingpin. I know some Laotian people have been trafficked there to work as scammers. But it’s difficult due to the corrupt Lao government being on his payroll who allowed the Chinese kingpin to operate in the country
Yes it's in Laos, it's a very clean casino, but the area is very dusty from all the construction. It is quite surreal to go inside from Laos, there are ppl driving around in Rolls-Royce, porches, Ferraris, and brand new taxis that look like something you would see in Tokyo, that are also building a Disneyland copy. Very weird, didn't gamble as there was no blackjack
If I had the money to go to this area or live in one of those apartment, I wouldn’t do it. And I just can’t say enough people supporting all that new infrastructure. It’s an old military strategy, taking the infrastructure, dividing it by the people there. The figures don’t compute.
Lol... that's what you got out of this report? You're one of those people that goes around looking for racism, colonialism and social justice, and finds it in places where they want it to be, instead of where it actually is
International Crisis Group is a foreign policy non-governmental organization dedicated to preventing wars, genocides, and other global conflicts. Its staffers, leaders, and board of trustees members consist of former United Nations employees, foreign policy scholars, and philanthropists such as billionaire left-of-center financier George Soros.
And there's no authority dealing with it. Chinese mafia is growing their empires there, increasing all troubles you can't imagine to nearby countries, scamming, people trafficking, etc.
Wow, I've been there a couple of times but not for at least 15 years now, it definitely wasn't like that, the last time I went there was just the big casino that you could visit but only by boat, dodgy af for sure, the yaba and ice trade will just get worse, 100%
1978 when Teaching Vietnam War by China, they can move their troops only Northern border between China and Vietnam. Now China after building power full Navy and high speed rail in Laos backyard of Vietnam. China already surrounded Vietnam three border. Only Thailand that deter China to attack Vietnam and Taiwan.
This guy is so naive. This is happening all over the world not only in the golden triangle . It’s an ocean no one call stop it. It’s the future and inevitable. Don’t fight it join it .
Does China, in first 9 months of 2023, m2 increased by 24 trillion RMB, 25-60% of GDP every year since 2006. FYI, that is moneyprinting on an annual scale of 5 trillion last year. What were you ignorantly expressing? The ignorance, hypocrisy or propaganda!
True. In my country we face all kind of scams and it is growing. Peole who used to work with these gangs often told there were companies operating around Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar borders in the casino buildings, ran by Chinese mafia.
