Inside Spain's Exclave In Africa 🇲🇦🇪🇸 ( 

It's been an interesting ride through the northwestern tip of Africa. This turned out to be my last video from Morocco, as I had to cut the trip a bit short and go elsewhere. Great country though. I'll definitely be back someday to explore the (Western?) Sahara, I didn't even get a selfie with a camel yet. I'll probably be back in a few weeks from somewhere new. Enjoy your summer, wherever you may be. Hope the moonshine is good there.

The guy at the beginning freaked out as he thought you were asking him on how to illegally cross the border which would get him in serious trouble with the authorities as a couple weeks ago a very large group of subsaharian immigrants tried to cross by force which resulted in chaos all over the place..

To be honest. THIS is one of the best if not THE BEST travel channel created by an individual. Tommy never disappoints. Some like these motorcycling gals and boys on RU-vid but if it comes to sociological, historical issues and international contacts , Sabbatical just is unbeatable. Well done and thank you Tommy.

I lived in Kenitra for 2 years and it was the most friendly place. A complete stranger passing you while walking might invite you over for dinner. In return you would do the same. Family is very important in Morocco. I loved the place. Now I am back in Houston, TX. I barely know our neighbors.

legit one of my fave travel channels and i watch most of them, just something about Tommy and how he gets proper in with the people of the poorest area's and makes friends with all of them. Its amazing to see how they live in the slums and are happier than 90% of city dwellers and are increadibly friendly. Absolutely love the content bro.

Moroccan tacos may share the same name as a Mexican snack, but they're completely different! Apparently they were invented by Moroccan expats in France, and soon became popular in their homeland too. I love 'em!

Speaking Darija is impressive for someone who isn't from there. Residents who work in the Spanish enclaves have long term work permits, so they have visas. Locals can also enter for emergency reasons such as medical or natural emergencies. Previously the locals only needed their passports, but there was a bit too much one sided traffic

This border crossing from Fnidiq, Morocco into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in a way reminds me of USA border crossing from San Ysidro, Calif. (San Diego County) into Tijuana, Baja-Mexico which I would cross an average of every two weeks on Saturday weekends for more than 15 yrs straight to party with the Mexican Senoritas at "Adelitas", "Las Chavelas" bar/clubs. Even though there was only a 10-15 minute walk across the bordering two countries, I could almost "IMMEDIATELY" see the vast difference between the two sides of the bordering cities. Same as Ceuta has at least 50% Moroccan residents on the Spanish side, it was well know that at least 70% of the residents on the American side in San Ysidro were Mexican and other Hispanic people. It was always nice living in southern California while being educated and having a nice salaried career job which allowed me to drive to a different country where my money went further, and could return back to my parked car on the USA side within approximately 10 hours and drive back home in a little less than 2 hours early Sunday morning and sleep until 2 PM when I would wake up to exercise and do my weekly laundry to start my Monday work week..😊😊

Hey Sabbatical, big fan here from Morocco, actually about the thing you ate it's more of a "french" tacos, not to be associated with the original Mexican Taco as you may have realized, but it's way more filling Anywhere you in France, Morocco & Algeria when you read the word tacos expect it to be of the French variation.

10:35 those are called french tacos, created by a Moroccan & his fellow algerian in france in 2007, they created a franchise called O'tacos, and it became very popular in Morocco too This one we call one piece a "Tacos" unlike the Mexican one wich is called a "Taco" for one piece

I'll be going to Ceuta from Algeciras by a ferry and crossing over into Morocco and getting a ride to Tangiers come February.. Staying in Ceuta for a couple of days to relax and walk around before my Moroccon adventure begins.. Good video of the general vibe of the cities.. Thank you

You are in my city! Ceuta, is older than Morroco, is part of Spain before Morroco was created. And, the population decide to be part of Spain wen Portugal and Spain separated. Is weird, but us the history.

Gibraltar and Ceuta are completely different situations. Ceuta existed before Morocco. While Gibraltar was already an integral part of the nation of Spain when Britain took it over. Big difference.

Hello Tommy! I have been following you since 2 years ago.. and this is the first time I leave you a comment! I´m from the provence of Cádiz (mainland spain)... just 16km away from Africa, it is creazy how far and how close we are from each other!! You said Ceuta is as Spanish as Madrid or Barcelona, well Ceuta it is defintly way more spanish than Barcelona and can be more spanish than any other part of mainland Spain. People in Ceuta are very proud of Spain and very patriotic, also many of ceutans are from the spanish army. About the KKK statue.. well is a religious dress from semana santa (holly week) it can be the most cultural, traditional and important week in Spain, specially in Andalusia(southern Spain). It is also way older than the KKK so problably KKK copy that religious spanish dress from us. I will highly recomend you to cross the border from La línea (spanish city) to Gibraltal (UK). It is mind blowing too! La línea is one of the poorest western european cities ang Gibraltar is one of the richest places on earth! Many spanish cross the border by foot everyday to get to work in the Uk. Now with Brexit made things wrost to Spanish an also to the British. You will love how the gibraltarians speak English mixing it with Spanish! Thank you for your videos mate!!

I like you never realized there was part of Spain in Africa. Many years ago I signed up for a day tour of the city of Ceuta. I thought the ferry left from Cadiz but looking at a map it may of been a different place. It was an interesting trip that I don’t remember much of except pics.

Interesting how countries can be so different in subtle ways. In Colombia its dogs everywhere. Was surprised hiking at a huge park away from the city and the trees were as tall as the eyes could see and randomly you came across stray dogs. In Morrocco, cats are everywhere. Wonder if it is because of their religion they prefer cats.

Nice one mate. Ceuta looks definitely Spanish indeed. Next time you're in East Africa check out Mayotte, a French island département. It's also part of the EU but very African. The local language is of course French but they also speak Mahorais. The interesting bit is that it's related to Kiswahili.
