STORY
Step into the abandoned farmhouse of the Begen family and explore the story of their enduring love, shattered dreams, and enduring legacy.
Gilbert and Camille Begen met in high school and fell deeply in love. They dreamed of building a life together on the family farm, where Gilbert would follow in his father's footsteps and pursue his lifelong passion for farming.
Their dream came true, and they raised two beautiful daughters on the sprawling lands of their home. But tragedy struck when Gilbert began to suffer from medical problems due to overwork. He eventually became unable to work and passed away shortly after.
Camille was left to raise the children on her own, but she was a determined and resourceful woman. She worked tirelessly to keep the farm afloat, and she instilled in her daughters the same strength and resilience that she possessed.
The Begen family home is now a silent witness to the passage of time and the fragility of life. Its crumbling walls echo with the laughter of children and the footsteps of a loving couple. But even in its decay, the house still radiates the warmth and love that once filled its rooms.
In this episode, we enter the Begen family home one last time to pay tribute to their story and to bring their legacy to life. We explore the abandoned rooms and uncover the hidden secrets that lie within these walls. We also meet with the Begen daughters, who share their memories of their parents and the life they shared on the farm.
Join us on this journey as we explore the abandoned farmhouse of the Begen family and discover the enduring love that binds them together, even beyond the grave.

I am a 74 year old widow and take care of my severely disabled 50 year old daughter. I rarely get out of my house so you two almost feel like family. Also since 1969 when I explored a 1986 victorian house, full of stuff, exploration of anything has been my passion. When I was married in 1972, my dear Hubby frowned on my wanderings and then I had four children and put the whole Kibosh on the whole thing. In 2005 we bought a piece of property on a private lake and then I had the whole reach of the woods and mountains to explore. "WOW" what a lucky woman am I.

I got married in 77 and had 4 children that filled up my life. I appreciate this channel, Bros of Decay, because I can trust them to have a lot of historical content with abandoned places, without all the haunted house hype some of them have been known to pursue. An electric bike can take you all over the city and you'll see things you've never noticed before. My Lectric Trike has a 60 mile battery, a 400 lb weight capacity, and it's half the price of any other one on the market. I use Maps to plot my path wherever I want to go, and it's more fun than you can imagine. The first thing I did was to seek out all the steep hills I used to struggle with, and go up them effortlessly.🙂 God bless you and your family. I speak words of life and health over your precious daughter in the name of Jesus. Let her be made whole now in Jesus' name. Let your last days be filled with more life and love than you can imagine, in Jesus' name.🙏🙌❤️‍🔥🙌🕊️

Ma'am I pray you have help in the care of your daughter, that your not alone, my mother is 76 and I'm 50, disabled, but GOD has allowed me to be able to still get around, and yet still go check on mom, I pray your children appreciate you and your home, and may it never falls to heart break like all these homes lost in history. God bless you for taking care of your daughter, even now.🙏🏻✝️💜

I think people should be made responsible for their property and if they don't,then the city should take it over and fix it up and make small apartments and rent it to people who have no place to live. Better than letting it just rot out

Camille died in 1995 at 88 years old. Main house built approx 1800. Pretty funny how Zillow has this address estimated at $285k. The house next store is estimated at 763k. Pretty pricey area for an abandoned house.
@urbeximals
@urbeximals 6 месяцев назад
Zillow is a bit strange with their prices, but, most of the time it for the land the house is on, not the house itself. So the condition of the house doesn't matter. Plus it's only their estimated guess.

So the second kitchen is the winter kitchen. They would keep the stove burning all day as a heat source. That round metal piece above it is to put the stove pipe in. They put it there to cover the hole.

The kitchen with the wood burning cook stove was most Likely the Original Kitchen when house was built. The more modern one was definitely an add on
@kathikeneasterrichards5099
@kathikeneasterrichards5099 6 месяцев назад
I was thinking maybe the 2nd kitchen was a summer kitchen, which is where they would do all the vegetable/fruit prep and Canning. I used to live on a farm that had a separate building for Canning. It had a stove, sink and a big long table down the middle. I used it when canning season rolled around every year. This kept the heat from the hot water bath (3.5 hours for green beans to process) out of the house. All of the Amish have 2 kitchens in their homes. They have no air conditioning ( neither did our farmhouse), so they typically live in the basement in the summer where it's much cooler. Just my thoughts on the two kitchens. Great job Lesley & Danny!!

Hey dear Lesley this was apparently a quite challenging explore in that amazing house somewhere in the USA. This kitchen with the caved in floor was really looking dangerous. On the other hand I loved seeing the living room and the bedrooms, which were still so far intact, that you could imagine the former owners returning at any moment - legit time capsules! - Once again I can only admire the excellent camera work from Danny. Danny and you are a true dream explorer team. It's always so exciting to listen to your conversations, when for instance Danny is drawing your attention to a detail, you might not have seen. - It was also so touching to see all these personal items, like some photographs, showing memorable moments of the former owners. Very touching for me was to see how emotional you were, when picking up a photo with a small child. - Ah Lesley, your sensitivity is adding a lot to the unique quality of your videos! Wonderful, bro! You are simply the best! Wishing you fullheartedly all the best, peace, many hugs and kindest regards from now rather rainy Switzerland.

Yes, I'm sure they were selling young rabbits. I remember as a child my parents buying peeps that had been dyed bright colors somehow and sold at Easter, along with bunnies. Sad for the peeps though, because as children we didn't know how to properly care for them and happily, that practice was outlawed.

A home being passed down from one generation to the next. The home sitting so close to the road would indicate that the state at some point either purchased from the property or the owner could have donated property for the easement of the road. Thus the seperation from one side of the road to the other. Your exploration through the home was so kind and caring for the family and yes, many times people do just leave a home full of items and there's usually a reason.

I was just staring at the vintage sewing machines, thinking I wish I could get my hands on them and restore them. Those machines were in pretty good condition and seen a lot worse. Hi Lesley and Danny, What an anomaly this house is. Really old stoves and yet some modern light globes AND the power is STILL ON! I thought they only did that in certain parts of Europe! 3 sewing machines and two kitchens, not to mention more than one TV, which back in the day meant you were quite wealthy which I assume they were, being farmers. Thanks, guys xxx

I just can't imagine why electricity is left in that house. I know that must have been a very big surprise. I really enjoyed seeing this old place as I have never spent any time in Massachusetts. The further south you go in the US you probably won't find Catholic items. Even for me being from the US, this seemed a little foreign. I am amazed that the family didn't update there furniture. The bedrooms looked so old. (Not that that is a bad thing) It seems this house was frozen in time before anyone ever left.

That is a balloon framed house. They are very strong, but fire traps. Balloon houses have been known to actually tumble across a field like a tumbleweed in a tornado and are still built in hurricane prone areas with fireproof modifications. Even if someone totally remodeled this house to be livable again, they would never be able to get insurance on it due to the balloon frame. A fire starting in the basement would run up the insides of the wall all the way to the attic in a matter of minutes.

"A fire starting in the basement would run up the insides of the wall all the way to the attic in a matter of minutes" By the time a fire dept arrives on the scene of pretty much ANY house fire, the house is a total loss anyway, it only takes minutes and by the time someone sees a fire and calls it in and the firefighters actually get on the rigs and start driving its too late to do anyhing more than keep the fire from spreading to adjacent houses or woods

Watching this abandoned farm with every single thing still there it gives a sense of sadness. Was Camille leaving alone there till the day of her death??
