I lived across from chippy on Bruce Street top floor I rented a 1 bedroom unit when I first git married in 82, let me tell you this place was beautiful!!!! I remember the chippy very well, and the church shamrock club I think, I used to play piano accordian in the marching band, when I was a wee lass 😆 I remember bumping a silver cross pram up and down the flights of stairs!!! Hard work that was after my daughter was born!!! It was a very modern unit we rented fitted kitchen it was small but practical!!! I loved it I used to walk to parkhill thru the cemetery up this huge hill!!! Couldn't do it now with that huge silvercross pram!!! Fond memories of Bruce street!!! Just a terrible Shame to see it like this with all the homeless people around!!!
Cheek to say their is a housing shortage. Create employment and get those properties renovated back to what they were. A lot cheaper than knocking them down and re- building. Affordable housing oppertunity there.
Yeah and they actually look like quality buildings too. Especially after being abandoned (and vandalised and torched) for so many years. I think a mix of attracting new companies nearby for local employment and installing fast internet for remote workers could create a thriving community, in a small village that's far nicer than any modern estate. What a waste to just bulldoze it down
My father was born in one of those houses, and both my parents and other relatives went to that school. They could be beautiful flats, and it’s terrible they’re in this state.
