Molins made cigarette packets not dispensing machines and invented the hinged lid box packet and had serious experience in armament systems.

I was a gunner on the American M60A2. My position was about as cramped. Fortunately,I also had my own hatch, and getting out looked a bit easier than on the Conqueror. My primary sight, had a washer like this, AND a wiper blade.

The WS19 has Russian marking because it was produced under lend lease. This model is an American made Mk2 though so it wouldn't have seen service in a Conqueror. Mk3 would have been used, also the PSU looks to be a rare Canadian made mains power supply, so that wouldn't be in a vehicle at all. Although WS19's made in America and Canada had Russian and Chinese markings, very very few actually made it there.
@Emchisti
@Emchisti 5 лет назад
Not under Lend Lease. The British were not party to the lend lease act. They were supplied under the Military Supplies Agreement between the British Empire and the USSR.
@gleggett3817

@@Emchisti Canadian production of the No.19 for Soviet use. US could purchase war materiel if it wanted to from Canadian manufacturers and provide under Lend Lease though whether that was done with radios.... @Emchisti

@@gleggett3817 not so. That's not how they were supplied and the US did not, as far as records indicate, buy 19 sets to give to the USSR. Certainly they don't appear on Soviet manifests that are available.

They went from massive brass cases to not so big bag charges. Am I missing something or is the gun the British using today less powerful.
@Galacalactus
@Galacalactus 7 лет назад
And then the second loader had to ram the charge and the head down the breech in one swift movement to keep air pockets from forming. That otta take some effort.

4 rounds per minute is unreasonable? Dang, my Super Conqueror must have a Super loader if he can load a shell in 6.9 seconds.
@p_serdiuk
@p_serdiuk 6 лет назад
pukalo [CDN] Real tank combat is far slower and far longer-range than WOT gameplay. The game speeds things up a little so it doesn't get boring.
@Clangokkuner
@Clangokkuner 3 года назад
It's not the burst reload that's unreasonable, it's the 37 shells in an hour that's not acceptable, the APDS and HESH shells weigh in at around 34kg, try hoisting 37 of those in an hour in a confined space
@justforever96
@justforever96 2 года назад
he didn't actually say the four rounds per minute was unreasonable, he just sort of implied it was included. I think the main problem was the sustained rate. Any reasonably fit man can sling a few 80lb propellant cases and shells into a breech in 15 second intervals. It takes a very strong man to keep doing it for 10 minutes, let alone an hour, especially since he also has to stop and discard the empties so they don't fill up the tank. Obviously that was a primary problem, since that was what they chose to fix.

I could really use the extra money, but at my age a tank gunner's position would possibly not be awarded to one such as myself.....though I am rather handsome and swashbuckling and all that. Plus I would look positively stunning in old war photo books of the future.

Charge a British cigarette dispenser company with the task of developing a gun loading mechanism. This ist so British.
@gleggett3817
@gleggett3817 4 года назад
Molins made the machinery that formed the packets and filled them with cigarettes. If they could process thousands of small tubes an hour why not a few big 'tubes' in a matter of seconds.
@justforever96
@justforever96 2 года назад
The Food Machinery Corporation developed the M113 APC. It is still in service in dozens of nations. During WWII, countless firms took on manufacturing and developing war equipment. There is no such thing as a 'cigarette dispenser company', only companies that have experience manufacturing cigarette dispensers. A company can make or design whatever they care to try a hand at. And in fact, Mollins had decades of experience designing and building military equipment. It is more like they turned to things like cigarette dispensers to survive after the war. But even if they hadnt, there is nothing stopping them from hiring a bunch of bright young engineers and going into the arms business. How do you think FMC ended up bidding on the M113? Or an old firm can hire or poach engineers away from established arms companies. Not that a device for transporting shell casings is the same as building heavy artillery. Who would be better at producing something like that than a company that already builds similar machines? Why shouldnt they be able to build a device that loads a gun perfectly well?
@matthayward7889
@matthayward7889 Год назад
To be fair, the Molins company had made a successful auto loader for the 6 pounder in the Mosquito. Not quite as silly as it sounds!
