As a former correctional officer, she's right. As well as officers growing complacent in the visiting park. There's a reason I never worked at a female prison, regardless of the promotional opportunities.
Worked with a former corrections officer. Guy didn't come off like he would cheat on his wife. BUT most racist guy I knew. Black guy who kept saying how oppressed black folk are. Yet he drove a custom large truck, custom chopper bike, custom built house. Trying to figure out how he was oppressed, cause it was not financially. Didn't see any of our coworkers holding him back, calling him names, etc.
There were a bunch of dudes who I went to high school with and got a job in corrections after we graduated. These guys were not honor students if you follow my meaning. It may just be my own anecdotal experience but it doesn’t seem like the Corrections Department has high intellectual standards when hiring guards. 🤔
Been in many county jails and in NEW JERSEY IN PARTICULAR. The men have a large part watching the inmates . I also seen girls gang up on the good officers, that made up blatant lies bc I saw it in my long stay at a county jail my self . Also we were the first state I believe to have trans women with full intact male genitalia in female prisons and got 2 women pregnant. Inmates have rights too . Some of us have 3 felonies , life ruining career ending that are laughable. Reform prisons . Bc the prisoners are givin hush money on all types of things . Worse in the UK . Very scary
Isnt this also (at least in part) why the asylums/mental institutions got closed? Cannot do that with prisons so they actually have to fix the issue this time.
I knew a corrections officer who got involved with an inmate. She lost her job over that and got married to the inmate. The marriage was short lived. She ended up being a security guard supervisor at a casino and retired from the casino.
