I visited Berlin in the early 80s, before the wall came down. One of the places we visited was a cemetery for the Allied service men and women who died there, close to the Brandenburg Gate. The sensation I felt, walking around and reading some of the inscriptions on the gravestones, including some messages from their families, broke me. Am nowhere near old enough to remember what it must have been like during WW2 but I guess you must have felt a similar gravity walking around the Jewish Cemetery.. dreadful times for sure and something we must never forget. Big respect bud.

Yes we have seen the film but it is something quite heart wrenching walking around these places. Being reminded of this history is a good thing and your video is very well done. Informative and interesting, so thankyou for caring to show your viewers a not always known part of history in Poland. The Beautiful Synagogue is beautiful, and your story of the cemetery was so compassionately told. The factory was closed when we went there too but it was still such a powerful surge of emotion being there. Appreciate your time, also facing the cold, to share with us these remarkable places. ✌️

great video, thank you, but...who were the nazis? where did you have a state? why did they put such inscriptions? think. "Nur für Deutsche (Polish: "Only for Germans") - an inscription placed during World War II in the countries occupied by the Third Reich on means of transport, buildings and public places, such as parks, cafes, cinemas, theaters, etc. exclusively for Germans."
@lord0qpa

Yeah, around 25:30 mr Chris used the world „German”, but he corrects it very quick for mythical word „Nazis” Its very sad that the world doesnt remember :( After watching this video i see people will soon forget the truth .. If we keep using word „Nazis” instead of „German”, many people in the world will think that Polish people were „Nazis”.. but in fact: they were one of the most affected country by Nazi Germany :( Btw it was a very smart move from Germany to put concentration camps in Poland.. I can often hear from my friends from Spain for example words „Polish camps”. for average person in America the whole Europe is a one big country… they dont feel the difference..

Also make sure you go to the Jewish district there as well. Since you’re so close you should go to Prague, Czech Republic. They have a Jewish graveyard there that is absolutely astonishing. They have a church there as well. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Also In Warsaw have a uprising museum there as well. Blessings from Oklahoma. Ps. Salmon perigee is awesome and try going to a Milk Bar while you’re there. Ps. Kraków was unscathed during the war.

Warsaw was destroyed during the war but Krakow was relatively untouched. That is because Krakow was in the part of Poland that was in the Austro-Hungarian empire, and hence considered "German" by the Nazis where Warsaw was in the part of Poland that was in the Russian empire and was not considered "german" by the Nazis.

You must be freezing your ¡¡ off🤧 Thanks for sharing, enjoyed that sad sad history knowledge of what people had to lived in such a world of Pain, suffering 🥺, Now my curiosity watching your video, in which I wished I known from my Mom directly & other relatives stories of the WW II during Pearl Harbor, & moresure the Islands of Saipan & Guam, Japanese ownership? I only heard briefly in my teen from my older cousin of Saipan & I had no interest of war events which I think I had asked my Mom twice to verify the story my Cousin told But would not say. Parents, thought it was 1 yr in a Japanese Concentration Camp But SADLY much longer than I expected😭 Chris wish & pray that We don't experience Any Wars!! I enjoyed your video. I have lived in Kraków since 2013. I need to make one correction. Kraków was left virtually untouched from the war because the Nazis made Kraków their headquarters during the war. So all the old buildings are authentic, hundreds of years old. This makes Kraków very special. You are correct about Warsaw. It was completely obliterated during the war. So their Old Town was rebuilt after the war.

I loved this video and I think u did a good job.. even if not every single lil thing was correct. I didn't find anything incorrect. But I see some comments here feel the need to point out some stuff. Which is fine, but should do so respectfully. No need for the negativity when your intentions were pure. Anywho. Your so lucky to walk in the very same steps the Jewish people walked. I have been obsessed with watching videos of this very dark time. I would love to go to Germany but only to visit the historic sites that have to do with the Holocaust. Most of those buildings look like they been standing there since that dark time. Just by looking at your video and seeing the background I can picture the Nazis running through the streets the stumping of their boots echoing the alleys. Their dogs barking. Must have been unimaginable living at the time. But most of all being Jewish at the time. 🇮🇱🇺🇲

A very few people knows that the most characteristic and unique feature of the Krakow ghetto wall is its shape, not coincidentally reminiscent of Jewish tombstones called matzevot... The Nazis were fond of such "jokes". Another proof of what I am saying is the inscription above the gates of the camps, the famous "arbait macht frei" meaning "work sets you free". It was pure mockery, because if someone worked honestly as ordered and received the food fed to Nazi slaves in return, he could only survive as long as the camp commandant indicated in his welcome to the camp: "Jews two weeks, priests a month, the rest - three months at most."

Very well done and accurate except for one item that may have been mentioned: Krakow did not have much destruction at all like Warsaw. In fact, compared to other known Polish cities, it was virtually left completely intact.
@hubertm4870
@hubertm4870 Месяц назад
This is not true. Warsaw was destroyed mostly due to Warsaw uprising as a revenge. Krakow was luckier. It was supposed to be destroyed by the Germans, but they did not manage to do it in retreat before the approaching Soviet troops. Krakow was also incorporated into the Austro-Hungarian Empire for only 80 years. There were practically no Austrians or Germans there, so it was not considered a German city. So this was not the reason for saving Krakow (0.2% of German speaking population before World War II).

Krakow was not destroyed during the war. Warsaw was very much destroyed. As far as I know the ghetto walls inside the cities (whenever still standing) were simply liquidated after the war, exactly like the Berlin wall was demolished by the Germans after the end of soviet communism. Also... It was not Western allies who won the German nazis. There soviets (who had earlier cooperated with Hitler), defeated the Germans but also established their own criminal regimes in Central and Eastern Europe.
