Most people from non-white countries would have supported Afghanistan in Afgh vs Aus. Afghanistan was clearly the underdog who looked like were peaking and steamrolling into the semis or maybe even the finals(?). Remove being Pakistani out of it and look at Afghanistan team from an outside perspective. They just had a terrible last few years for the afghani people they came out of an occupation into another, the recent earthquake etc. They literally only had a legitimate team for 4 or 5 years,theyre clearly the underdog. Also lets be honest, if this world cup was going on before the americans left Afghanistan, most pakistanis would have been very pro-afghan and would have supported Afghan over Aus in this match as I clearly remember pakistanis being huge supporters of Afghanistan back then. They almost had the same sentiments they share today with palestine. They had the Free Palestine = Free Afghanistan kinda movement where many were vocal. I clearly remember that. Lastly, indians have watched Afghani players in IPL and have become more relatable and have developed a higher para-social relationship with Afghani players than Australia obviously. Many indians are huge fans of individual players from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh as well.
