This was such as weak interview! Solomon could've asked Andrew Mwenda a wide range of questions but remained hinged on a shallow line of questioning underlined by his moral suppositions and pseudo-analytic political economy. Instead of hinging on issues like MKs tweets, birthdays, his motorcade, etc the whole time, Solomon could've asked questions such as: 1) What are MK's motivations and why does he think he represents a credible alternative to M7? 2) What is MK's vision for Uganda & what ideals (political, philosophical and economic) underpin it? 3) Are there any different policy options from that of NRM he plans on implementing and why? 4) What is his foreign policy strategy ? is it strategic ambiguity? non alliance? A pan Africanist posture? and so on and so forth...... most of us intellectuals would have benefited from understanding the overall MK agenda better. Additionally, Ugandan Journalists should grow out of this shallowness of trying to debate their guests and by extension try to impose their presumptions on the guest whilst at the same time putting across their opinions as if it is a FACT - when actually they don't have most, if not all the facts. Good journalism demands, you seek to understand issues and ask objective questions and allow the guests you are trying to get answers from to respond and explain. You don't start debating and disagreeing even when you don't have irrefutable facts. THIS WAS VERY POOR

Mwenda knows he’s defending the indefensible and his answers will appeal largely to the simple minds. But anyone who can go beyond the rhetoric knows what’s happening here.

Greetings to both of you, gentlemen. Mr. Mwenda, firstly, you are absolutely wrong. "Section 99 of the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces," the UPDF, has been violated. General. Muhoozi is not above it, nor the law of Uganda for that matter, his status as the son of the dictator of Uganda notwithstanding. Secondly, a "movement" does not elect, nor stand as a candidate in any election anywhere, no matter how popular you may claim that it is. Only the individual candidate can do that. As the "spokesman" of the "MK Movement" perhaps you would be willing to have the finances of Gen. Muhoozi scrutinised by an independent committee of the Auditor General of Uganda, to make sure that he has been spending his own money on those private trips he has made in the country and abroad, and not the Uganda taxpayer's money allocated to the State House at Entebbe. The COSASE could also investigate, as indeed it is likely to do when the time comes for the dictator of Uganda to finally be held to account. That day is close at hand. Look Mr. Mwenda, you don't fool anyone. The "transition" in Uganda you are talking about will not happen by simply having the dictator's son stand as a candidate in 2026, as he has said that he will, then be declared the winner, before all the ballots have been counted and the balloting completed. We know that is what happened in 2021. There is no reason why the people of Uganda should expect a free, fair and credible election, as long as the dictator of Uganda and now his son, are bent on holding power by any means necessary, including committing atrocities against the opposition and subverting the electoral process with impunity! Therefore, the "transition" can only come about if the candidates from all the parties are allowed to stand and, most importantly, the 2026 election is free, fair and credible. If that happens, the dictator of Uganda or his son, will surely lose the election. Let me make it clear to you that we have had three dictators at the helm of the central government since 1966 - Obote, Amin and now Museveni. We would like to make sure that the head of the family for which you are the "spokesman" will be the last one, and that his son should never follow in his father's footsteps. Where will you be when the "chickens come back to roost?" Like the supporters of the dictators we have had in Uganda before him, you will surely regret your words and actions.

Mwenda, a former journalist, now spokesperson, what does Solomon expect. Experience is the jewel, however wrong Mwenda is, he sounds more logical.

I have just started watching, it looks like my man Solomon has been hosted.

Mwenda is hell bent on discrediting Solomon, he’s purposely obtuse, the elitism at display by him is beyond. He avoids answering questions satisfactory. The question is not whether military officials have spoken on political issues, but rather whether they have publicly displayed their intention to ran for political office. The latter is illegal and MK has indeed engaged in such.

As an intervier, dont fall into the trap of answering the interviewees questions. Just remind them that you get to ask the questions and their role is to answer them. You have to Mwenda on this one

I think it's a question of the way the issue was framed. Politics is not the issue, but a serving army officer launching a bid for the presidency and being given space to campaign for it.

Great show & Great conversation. A lot of gaps in our journalism have been highlighted through these great journalists.On one hand Solomon has genuine concerns,however he does not have the right armoury to address them,and as such he is pounced into a corner, branding him a man of 'popular appeal',emotion, and not reason based on fact. On the other you have Andrew Mwenda , an experienced mouth piece who will pretty much talk himself out of anything.Whether for financial gain, a change in ideology, or supposed growth ,we may never know but one thing for sure is that Solomon stood no chance!!
