After serving in the U.S Submariner force for 20yrs, it is a hard, long hours, isolating and appreciation for everything you have because once we go out, we leave a lot of those luxury things behind.

What comes across is the businesslike manner and professionalism of the crew...they are a credit to the US.

Submariners also glow in the dark, but they couldn't show it because it's classified.

Guys, while we all wish she asked more interesting questions, there is a reason she is not asking them - it's extremely classified information. Trying to get information, especially current, up to date information, out of submariners is an exercise in futility, they just can't and won't say anything.

Just crazy the amount of power that's needed to move so much water at that speed.

If it's PCU, it's not the Navy's yet. It still belongs to the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics. The Navy doesn't officially take full ownership until the commissioning.

Nice to get tour by sitting. Thz 4 giving us tour. Who knows tour like these would inspire kids to be future submariner, which takes special breed I have heard.

Gosh i sure hop there is no water leaks of some nature like hitting something, getting rid of all those turning valves and analog switches looks like a lot of short circuits and black screens. I hope there is backups! Push the buttons on the screens sure fine high tech, i get it... but sometimes old stuff is best when mixed with water emergencies or fires??..

This isnt the "newest" design. Its actually 20 years old, I designed them for over 20 years @ GDEB.

Being submerged for six months at a time is incredible. I really dont think that is something that I would want to so however.

Sub life it seems to me can be addictive because it is very structured, comfortable and predictable. We can only hope that life in the real world can be equally structured, comfortable and predictable. But life outside is hard, arduous and worrisome. Leaving that stable environment can freak out somebody specially if it was me.

I like the US Navy ships of the 1940s but one ship is my number one favorite besides the USS Missouri BB 63 I believe this one ship is the longest u.s. commissioned ship ever I believe it's called the USS Constitution known as Old Ironside I believe that's the name

After seeing so many Submarine videos, I think I may want to try to get into being a submariner. If I can get into the Navy first. Besides tight living quarters, which I'm not all to keen on, but with 6 hour of work time, then 6 hours of study, doesn't sound all that bad.

Are we expected to believe that, with a crew of 120+ people in this class sub, that they will be fed out of the kitchen for 6 month deployments? In one month that is 10800 meals alone. No way in fuck does that sub have the shear space for that.

I wonder why they use so much wood furnishing in the subs. I thought it would be more aluminium pr stainless steel cabinets etc

a few times I have had non public tours of submarines. what I mean by non public is during public tours things are covered that should not be seen. I had a few tours where nothing was covered. depth Gage for instance marked with test depth and crush depth etc.

I wish this is just wishful thinking I wish the US Navy would bring back a World War II submarine and recommissioned a submarine from that era

Question for the sub guys out there. Out side of upgrades that get incorperated in the building span of a class of subs, do they really "wear out". Let me try to explain my question a little better. The los angles class (688) fast attack subs were built basicly 1 at a time from the early 80s to the mid 90s as far as i can tell from open source info. Im sure in that time, many advances in electronics, computers, sonar, powerplants, ext, ext were made. For a guy that knows nothing, like me, it seems that these type of tech upgrades could simply be put into the first sub to come out of a class, rather than retiring the boat. Yet, it looks like(acording to wiki) that subs are retired even at the same time(in some cases) that new subs of the same class are being commisioned. This dosnt make sence to me. I guess my question, with out asking for any kind of classified info would be.....Do they just wear out? Is there some kinda service life on the hull? What is it like serving on an old submarine vs a new one of the same class. Once again, not asking for top secrete info here, just a basic understanding.

Again as I stated in another video... Let me understand this... There is a sailor in jail for taking a couple of pictures of a sub, but we can all enjoy a much more detailed operation of a modern sub... Hmm... Something just doesn't seem right!!!
