Real fans have their favorites but real fans would also be absolutely thrilled to see CP3 get his first ring, Doncic finally breakthrough, the Levine/DeRozan Bulls win, and so on. I agree to a certain extent. This is a double-edged sword. It´s extremely difficult for a celebrity in this era to not make mistakes, or to not do things that some asshole will consider mistakes, when you live with cameras and microphones surrounding you for a pair of decades. That talks about extraordinary focus, extreme maturity, and especially about being an overall nice human being even while under incredible pressure. At the same time I never trusted people who never get in serious trouble. He´s spoken millions of times about innumerable subjects. It is basically impossible that if you have a clear opinion about certain topics you won´t get into trouble. You can´t keep everybody happy with everything you say. There is a fine line between being nice and being inoffensive and politically correct, which is this era´s evil. I´m from Spain, and I find a similar thing happens with Rafael Nadal or Pau Gasol. Lebron is the greatest of this era, 19 years at a high level is incredible. MJ said it right when he said he never considered himself the GOAT as he never competed against players in other eras. Lebron is top 5, personally i think MJ is the GOAT but others may say Lebron. Longevity wise Lebron is right there, had MJ not retired twice he may have passed Kareem himself as he only played 13 or 14 seasons. MJ averages 30.1ppg for his career, if he played 16 or 17 seasons (remember he retired twice) and continued at his career avg he would have passed Kareem. Lebron has been relatively healthy his entire career barring a few injuries in the last few seasons. MJ broke his foot in his second season and only played about 14 games that season!

that might have been exactly the reason why he managed to accomplish as much as he did. Had he not retired he might not have won as many championships due to accumulative stress(physical and mental) and strain put on him, hence wound up more succeptible to injuries. By and large, it's futile activity to fantasize about it. A lot of stuff comes about by serendipity, be it injuries, decision making at crunch time, made and missed shots - you name it. Can't deny that at times I, myself, find it rather riveting and enthrolling but allocating too much time and energy to such fruitless debates is by no means prudent or sensible. P.S. GOAT talk is a matter of perspective also. Some would argue that, the man with more rings (I wonder who that may be 🤔) than Jordan is the GOAT 😂. Rules have changed from Michael to Lebron, and rules have changed the game to where, it's more offense than defense played. Players have definitely changed from Jordan's era. Man youngsters out here jumping out the gym, and you wouldn't expect it from (their height) looking at them. You have BIG dudes (6' 8" to 7 footers) now handling the rock like passing, shooting, and dribbling like a point guard. All I say is, give em their props and flowers regardless who you think the GOAT is, while they're still here, instead of gone too early like Kobe 😢. And all you cats in the East better tell your team to tighten up, cause my Miami Heat is BRINGING 🔥 this year 😂

If you wanna use logic than it really isn't perspective. Jordan lead Bron in stats, advanced stats, accolades, winning, individual performances, and eye test (less weaknesses than Bron. Most notably being an average 3pt shooter for his time, while Bron being below average). It's not really close but it's ok. Because when we use the word "longevity" there's one 🐐 who stands above everyone else. LeBron
@kookurikapooh
@kookurikapooh 2 года назад
I agree with some of your statements. As to the matter of rings, however: It's disengenouos to consider that the only argument in favor of MJ is his rings. Similarly, it is also disengenouos to disregard rings as a PART of anyone's resume for being in the GOAT conversation just because there are those who have more. We need context. Rings are a part of that GOAT resume, it isn't the only thing to be considered. And if you only have rings in your resume, that's cool and all, but that isn't enough for you to be considered in that GOAT conversation, even if you do have 7 rings (lookin at you, Bob) And now you'll look at the great Bill Russell and analyze his rings with some context. You see arguments stating the relative lack of teams in the league during his era and the overall relative lack of distribution of talent. You'll see arguments saying that there is a sheer amount of consentration of talent with Russell's Boston squad which then helped him win year after year x 11. Considering also the lack of player movement which prevented the distribution of talent. It's not hard to see how a team that has a considerable monopoly on the league's talent can achieve a high degree of succeess. While I am in no way saying that the other teams were only filled with bums, I am just making a comparison to that era's talent pool, and the distribution of talent in that era vs the distribution of talent in subsequent years/eras. I'm also not saying Bill Russell isn't an All-time great, because he is. All I'm saying is that he had a lot going for him that not a lot of other GOAT contenders had. Take for example Kobe. He was never in a situation where his team held an overwhelming share of the league's talent. So all of that in consideration, I'd say that some of Kobe's rings weigh more than some of Bill's rings (maybe all--depending on how pedantic you want to be) I'm not saying it's necessarily your point because you might be quoting other people, but counting rings for their face value is flawed--you could say it's straight up wrong.

For a Kid that was raised without a Father, his mother had him when she was 16. He was able to overcome homelessness and poverty to be a great player and a very good human being too. He gives millions to help disadvantage kids get a quality education. He doesn't run around with Super Models like most NBA Players, he has been with one woman since he was 17 years old. That is awesome that he stayed with his High School Sweetheart after he made it big. There is a lot to admire about LeBron James.

Media manipulation by LeBron and Klutch. Keep manufacturing a debate and folks accept the initial premise. I don't have LeBron ahead of Kareem MJ Wilt Kobe Magic Shaq or Duncan. He's obviously a top 2 talent all time as he can do many things very well but it's about more than that

Have you not noticed how Lebron plays ? He the last 1 back on Defense so that he can be the 1st when they transition to offense which provides him with easy buckets on fast breaks . That's why LeBron don't care about playing defense. It's all offensive stats he looking for.

MJ did more in less time also he came in aged 21 so of course he would miss out on some seasons which would affect his overall stats. Not to mention that the breaks aswell which probabaly affected his stats even more. Somehow he still got top 10 points all time in 1072 games and 2000 minutes less than the second lowest minutes played in the top 10 who is melo at 9th
