@@FoxExcess I can see that side of it for sure…which why Kenny said, “It’s about perspective.” But, I can relate to Charles’ take more. To me, he said compete. LeBron James “competes” between the out of bounds lines on the basketball court. Therefore he is criticizing the guy’s in-game drive…his actions & demeanor while in a professional capacity. Again, to me, that is professional and not personal. Had Charles said LeBron doesn’t want to compete because he was dating, and didn’t go on a second date with a girl he was interested in because she went on a date with another guy 3 days before…well, that would be personal and not professional.
@@FoxExcess Nah. "personal" as in bron took shots at Chuck's personal life. Saying his opinion about his work ethic etc aint the same as talking about someones past troubles in their personal life.
“I did some stupid things in my life, that doesn’t make my argument less valid“ Exactly, Charles Barkley strictly discussed basketball, and LeBron James didn’t like what he had to say, so he instead decided to sling ad hominem attacks at Charles Barkley. Anybody who knows anything about logical fallacies and debates knows that this was a pretty clear and obvious win for Charles Barkley
No question. It’s not even a debate (imo). I may be wrong, but I think this is the only mistake LBJ’s made in his career (“the decision” maybe). LeBron was 100% wrong here, but honestly, speaks volumes about his character too. He’s a great smart guy who got in his feelings and made a mistake. Wish he would apologize to CB, even if it is 10 years late.
Imagine being Charles, one of the greatest of all time, getting constantly put down for never getting a ring despite almost single-handedly bringing your team to the finals and losing to Michael Jordan, and seeing the 2nd best player in history complain about lack of talent with two other all stars and co-champions as teammates. Of course you’re going to say something. It’s your job to say something and then Lebron comes back and acts like you just insulted his mother and his manhood and tries to tear you down as a human being. I love Lebron but that was one of his worst moments. Really the perfect addition to his over-sensitive reputation.
That's why I can never have lebron as goat no matter what he does. He is such a pathetic whiny bitch. He is basically both coach and a gm. He is all nice with you. He will have a cringy handshake with you and after the game he will go on and trade you behind your back. Say what you want about mj and kobe but they always pushed their teammates to the limits they may seem like sociopats to us but they ultimately made their teammates winners. And honestly I would rather have teammate who will insult me and scream at me if I suck and ultimatley make me a winner than a teammate who is all nice than goes and trades you behind your back.
When black was protesting of killing unarmed black by policeman, he did not stand for justice he those black like wild wild west, LeBron James stood by the little man, Charles Barkley is a hater.
Because he got bodied. Shaq is 100% right here and anyone with an IQ higher than a rock would agree. “He don’t want to compete” -Charles Barkley That’s not basketball. That’s personal. It’s plain as day. And then Lebron went personal and now Chuck hasn’t said anything about competing since this day. But because everyone loves Chuck and hates Lebron, they side with Chuck.
Man every star he played with was on their way out, they were not in their prime. Lebron played with people in their prime, he’s had help. Charles never had that help to the same level Lebron did.
This segment was outstanding. In just this clip, it shows: - The absolute brilliance of Chuck. What a class act. - The divide between Shaq and Chuck/Kenny in maturity. Shaq laughing mockingly in the background is just childish almost. - Chuck’s self confidence is unmatched. Not only does he take the hit from LBJ - he doubles down and turns the convo by saying: “He left out a couple stupid things I did.” Strength is when you can calmly criticize yourself, take ownership and stand up tall without hiding.

Wow this may be the first time i appreciated kenny’s basketball analysis greatly. He actually made a great analogy to supplement his point of perspective, which initially went over my head.
this scene is a testament to the greatness of the show. you have barkley responding in an educated manner to the erroneous backlash he received for doing his job as an nba talkshow host. you have kenny describing how twitter will only put a spotlight on negative comments without reward or value placed on anything positive. you have ernie mediating who responds by facing his body toward em (amazing host). and you have shaq being sensitive, but still offering a much needed antagonistic perspective to go off of. everyone in this show is incredible
I absolutely agree. Even in a case where I think it’s pretty clear to say Shaq isn’t really taking a solidly reasoned position, he still offers the much needed counter, is plenty patient enough to let the other dudes finish their points, and has some legitimate basis to from his points (he’s done those things and he’s been in those positions)
Shaq gets stuck in his argument and then gets stuck in a tunnel thinking he’s right. He didn’t get that LeBron took chucks comments personally but he let loose on Chuck with a personal attack. They’re such different things too. Sometimes the big fella needs to understand he’s wrong lol

5:49 Chuck is right. If he’d have been wrong, LeBron wouldn’t have lost his cool. He’d have laughed it off. Clearly, the truth hit a nerve. Deep down LBJ KNOWS Charles had a point. And he didn’t like it. Cause it was true. Number one sign you’ve won the argument: your opponent goes off-topic, and resorts to personal insults. You’ve got him. You’re in his head.
I like Lebron a lot. I appreciate what he’s done for the game, and it’s been awesome having him in the league so long. He’s kinda just dumb and juvenile outside of basketball. Not his fault. His sole focus since he was a kid has been basketball. Hasn’t left much room for smarts or emotional maturity. Chuck totally right about him.
