Although few people could have seen the lifetime ban Sterling received coming, I did think Sterling would receive at least a 2 year suspension from making decisions involving the Clippers while having to pay at least a $1M fine and being forced to meet with NBA league office members to try to remove the racial insensitivity that caused what Sterling said on the tape
4:29 ironic seeing the ticket on the bottom of Ellen DeGeneres tweeting about the importance of treating people with respect at the workplace years later 🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤣🤣
I felt like Charles and glad to hear about Kenny's feelings on Adam Silver. I was unsure how he would proceed but proud that he is a man of integrity and action. Way to go Adam, the NFL needs a commissh like you! Very well done!
@@HhhhhsgagaYou’re both right. Sterling was a very unsuccessful owner, treated his people like trash, lied to San Diego about not moving the team to Los Angeles when he bought the Clippers, and of course, the tapes - the last straw. He really was a blight on the NBA, and had to be cast out.
The moment I heard the tapes I knew he would be forced to sell the team. The only conclusion you can reach after hearing his words is that this man has no business owning an NBA franchise. End of story.
He needs therapy. He spent 80+ years being a racist piece of shit...imagine over his LIFE how many times he degraded, demeaned, embarrassed and mistreated blacks. Imagine the people that were robbed of economic success and opportunities because of his position of power and racism. Absolutely disgusting. Learned it from his parents and taught it to his kids certainly.
I think Adam Silver made the right choice, and I think that Sterling should be disassociated from basketball in everyway, the same way that Marge Schott, who was once owner of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team was dissociated from baseball for similar issues . No one individual is bigger than any sports team.... not the players... the owners of a team... not even the commissioners themselves. It's a bit of a different world nowadays. And in this case It's too bad that Sterling is a bit out of touch with it.
but man, david stern doesn't come out of this looking very good. he could have done more when he had a chance to and chose not to do anything. maybe stirling had something over stern?
@@acnicodemus4734just so you know, the Clippers’ move to LA was in 1984. The allegations of Donald Sterling’s racism before the TMZ tapes weren’t even widespread rumors until the 2000s, and none of those previous allegations had the smoking gun of definitive proof the TMZ tapes provided
Why were they so shocked at the size of the punishment? IMO I thought a life ban was the only punishment that fit the crime, don’t know why Chuck was surprised
He’s easily (and when I say easily, I’m talking about astronomically easily) the best commissioner in sports. We absolutely need him in the NFL and MLB.
its no real punishment for sterling. he can sell it with huge profit and the nba cannot tolerate consequences of not being hard in this case. you can say lynch mob you can say they sacrificed him or something but publich figures should not repeatedly be in big trouble and still not change.
I honest feel as though the Clippers should have been sold specifically to a minority billionaire, even if it is a foreign one. If no American can do it then a conglomerate of black owners. A combination of black former athletes could have pooled funds.
That wouldn't solve anything at all. No reason to do that. Ballmer has been exceptional as an owner and given back so much to communities including minorities. Looking only for a colored minority roots back to discrimination, doesn't help the main cause
Boy Kenny sounds like a clown, talking about the players owning the team (his math is wrong too, it's not 52% of the cap you have to spend, it's much higher).
i love it hes a smart man people should be scared to be racist no matter what race what he said was terrible and puts the fear into whoevers racist charles barkley sucks he spits on kids And cant talk
"I hope that other owners have 0 tolerance for comments like this" Idiot, the league banning him was not over him saying it but over him believing it. People say stupid shit all the time and if that is why he was banned it is bullshit. These men are not even hitting the mark on what the entire problem was as it pertains to the NBA.
