Not really, it was kinda obvious what they did, like playing luka only 1qtr when they still had a chance to make the playoffs. You are just repeating what you heard in the video and not thinking
So when a player like embiid right chooses not to play in a match up or for personal reasons why ain’t they messing with the integrity of the game ??? This only news cause mark cuban is white…this shouldn’t even b news it’s part of the game he was protecting his team and trying to make it better so Zion dunks in practice looks fine but the pelicans or he didn’t get fined for sitting a healthy player kawhi been fine but nobody cares why??? Lmao when you getting paid millions and you choose to sit out your directly messing with the integrity of the game but no one says nothing why??? Exactly it’s only cause he’s a white rich owner lmao
@@InsaneTrickShots you don’t understand the context of my comment. This is more so a appreciation of what he brings to the show. No duh he can leave when he wants to but he will be missed
@@Jordan-hf4ni He stated in an interview that hes not doing the whole 10 years. He has an agreement with TNT that he can choose whenever he wants to retire. You really expect chuck to be there until hes 70?
At 5:25 Shaq looks at the producer and gets the wink and the nod. Shaq knows the game is afoot and he can barely contain himself. Of course, Ernie is the maestro, baiting Chuck and orchestrating the entire gag😂😂😂😂
Yea on another Inside The NBA is their show. And also there should be more Latino players. 3 of the host are former professional basketball players who else better to talk about basketball.
The thing I'm curious about: Most (if not all) players have stipulations in their contracts where they get bonuses for certain things (making All-NBA, making the All-star team, etc), one of those being: playing in X number of play-off games. If your team has a chance to make the play-offs, but then your GM tells you to purposely tank, then the GM is intentionally taking away an opportunity for you to get your bonus. Shouldn't that be illegal/against the rules? Now I'm sure there are (illegal) ways for GMs to make it up to the players by paying them a little extra under the table, but I still think it's something that should be discussed. I don't know; what do you guys think? I'm willing to be wrong on this
The thing is enforcement. Its hard to enforce anything because when it comes to “intentional tanking” or “collusion” or “tampering” is that its hard to prove behind closed doors. At end of day it all stems from conversations of individuals.
I honestly feel like it's something that's more on a case by case basis. If the players are fine with it, then what's the big deal? The already make millions, and those bonuses are nice, but it's not like it's going to effect whether the pay their bills or go on a vacation lol So at the end of the day, not all players care about those bonuses, and even the ones who do, I'm sure there are times when they've been neither here nor there about it because of the situation
@@combatwombat594 but not every NBA player makes millions upon millions. Your point MIGHT stand for Kyrie or Luka but everyone else on the Mavs is getting snubbed and losing out on millions in bonuses per player
@@matthewui5034 "Justin Holiday makes around $819,832, making him the lowest-paid Dallas Mavericks player." I don't think dude has to worry about paying his bills or going on vacation, or anything like that. I think they're fine lol

@@RoryTate2176 I can't tell you how many people I have had conversations with that said the Mavs are bums, pathetic, etc............all sorts of names like they were the first team in the history of the league that has ever tanked. What they did was 110% the right move to keep that top 10 pick and try and build through the draft. They have zero cap space to sign anyone especially if they keep Kyrie which they basically have to at this point. Not only that but since OKC won their last 2 games the Mavs wouldn't have made the play in anyway cause OKC owned the tiebreaker people are just misinformed and have no idea what they are talking about
@@graham5990 All facts. Like Chris Rock said, it's selective outrage. The idea that people are acting like the Mavs are the first team to do this is beyond laughable
I hope they get the first or second pick so they can laugh in the NBA's face. They can't miss with either Scoot or Victor. 3/4 of a million wasn't a fine if that happens... That's called a good investment. 😉
The one ball per team is how they started. The first year there was the lottery (7 teams), it was the Patrick Ewing draft - The warriors had the worst record in league, Knicks had 7th worst. It worked out that Knicks got 1st pick, and Dubs got 7th (Chris Mullin).
Gilbert Arenas had the best idea that I’ve heard to fix tanking… “Make the last place team ineligible to land a top 3 pick… so the best they can do is #4.” Bet you’d see teams fighting right til the bitter end in that case.
a relegation/promotion system would fix this way better, making the G league the place where you go if you finish in the last 4 spots of each conference and you promote the best 8 teams from the G League to go to NBA...NBA would be revoluzionized but it would be fine as it is in soccer european leagues, Actually even the whole Draft system would be canceled, in that way but i think if you can find a solution to give somehow better drafts to smaller markets, it would be enough to make everything work. This would absolutely not reward losing,
But then small market teams who suck would be stuck at the bottom of the league forever. No chance in getting star free agents and generational talent from draft.
Something that could fix this is the in season tournament. Have the prize be a automatic pick in the draft. Maybe not #1 but anywhere from 6-10. It forces the trash teams to play harder during certain months in the season. You’d have another option other than just losing to get rewarded.
Both chuck and Kenny have good points. Tanking is always gonna happen when you reward losing, but if you’re small market or are stuck in limbo, what’s your alternative way to get better? Trading for a rental on a disgruntled star who’s gonna leave as soon as they can?
that’s exactly right it was honestly a smart move for them because i’m pretty sure the mavs have no cap space so their only option really is for draft picks. crazy people think mavs are the only team to do this in the NBA it’s happened before. and let’s not forget a few months ago the Houston Texans won and lost the #1 draft pick in the NFL too
@@reyramos8968 the NBA and NFL deal with this every year, especially at the end of seasons when good teams rest their players because they already locked a playoff spot, and bad teams can only benefit from losing. I don’t know why it bugs people, just don’t watch that team if you don’t like it. If the owners are cool with losing money for a year at the hopes of a better future then so be it
Its kinda the only move for small market teams but Big market teams ruined it. How can you compete with teams that got the money and are willing to throw away a season or 2 to draft early. I blame Philly because they literally had a whole state saying trust the process for 4 years straight as they just yeeted each season away purposely.
This crew is the best of the best. Not just for a basketball show but in all of sports. I hope they can all stick together for at least another 10 years!
Chucks got a point. I understand the early picks are a way to “balance” the teams out but the fact that you get a better percentage because the team sucks is a wild concept.
Bro even if they played and won the last two games. They still would have to had to had OKC lose which wasn’t goin to happen because okc played Utah and Memphis which both rested their starters. It was the right decision from management
No NFL team is resting all their players week 17 because they only have an outside shot of getting in. That's in direct opposition to the spirit of competing.
at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if they had a chance for the play in or not. chuck is right, they shouldn't have told everybody wtf they were doing. the league had no choice but to punish them for blatantly admitting to "tanking" lol. had they feign injury and stuck to their story.. who tf is going to be able to prove anything. smh
The hilarious part is that the Mavs actually didn't try to lose until everyone else tanked so severely at the end that the Mavs had to intentionally and obviously tank just to preserve their pic the last game or two. They were just reacting to what everyone around them was doing.
I feel the lottery pick should be determined by the team most improved in stats from last season among the bottom teams to prevent tanking. A reward system for improvements
Then the teams that genuinely suck, and are not tankin on purpose will just sink deeper & deeper and get even worse in comparison with the improving teams. Think man, think.. smh
LOL this show is really LEGENDARY. I'd love to see who the people are laughing in the back some day LOL. Like just shine the camera at them as they laugh, these people are so funny.
When they lost those Back to Back games vs Charlotte with 2 weeks left, that ended their season for good. The few games after that Dallas was just going through the motions. Even though technically they were still in it.
So many elements to that great moment: --- Ernie completely unmoving as they came crashing down. --- Shaq dying before the balls are even released because he knows. --- Kenny dodging the crossfire. --- Charles tensing up to brace himself for the hit. --- AND the woman on the production team DYING LAUGHING as the balls are released!! LOL!!!
Similar to the play in tournament, the NBA should create a lottery tournament (i.e. bottom 10 teams) where the bottom 10 teams play to win, the highest winning % the last 5-10 games of the regular season gets the highest draft and or the most ping pongs, the next 9 positions follow suit...
They actually needed to let Kenny talk more on this one. Btw I can’t stand tanking and this is a new low with a team tanking when they could get to the playoffs.
Yes, they got fined for telling the truth. While Portland and the other teams that have been tanking since the all star break get nothing. Maybe NBA should reevalute the system, or if they cared they would give that 750k to the Mavs season ticket holders....Mavs knew the Grizz would sit players, and what do you know OKC won. They had no control over their destiny and for the media to keep creating these narratives is ridiculous.
Reevaluate the system lol. Maybe the NBA should hire a third party outsider to reevaluate their system because the play in tournament was the leagues solution after reevaluating the system of tanking initially lol
Should flip the odds for all teams that missed the playoffs/play-in, but give the lower teams salary cap exception for a year or 2 Reward teams for trying to be good but give a chances for those who aren't It
1. Reverse the draft order of the teams that miss the playoffs. 2. Give a salary cap exception in the normal order to be used to sign other teams' free agents.
Have it scale when they tank so bigger market teams gets lesser incentive as compared to small market teams. +3 balls vs +1 ball if e.g. Lakers at 11th and Portland at 11th.
Well if all the players agree sure. Buy if a player sits out because they disapprove of how the franchise moves, then at least they winning respect to some degree.
Easy way to fix this. This applies to only teams out of the playoffs (bottom 14 teams): you get the # of ping pong balls equal to your total wins in the season for the draft lottery. Encourages teams to win as many games as possible without tanking and still gives perhaps a lucky chance for teams to win the lottery.
