Basically, an M5 in coupe form. Replacing the M6 with another 100k on the price tag. They just launched the price here in Australia at a whopping $380k on road. This is pretty much Porsche 911 and Audi R8 territory there, just shy of what it costs for a Lamborghini Huracan. People go nuts when they see the USD price or Euro price, but you guys have got it good compared to Taxtralia. This is all before the stealer adds any options and delivery fees.

Wow. Base price of M8 Competition convertible in USA in 2024 is $150K. Why was it so much higher in the Netherlands 4 years ago?

It might b expensive, (unless you ask for discount, you can get 30k off a new one) more if you have the ultimate pack. A turbo s might b slightly faster, but it only has a 6 cylinder engine, its a lot smaller. Can't take anywhere near as much luggage on a road trip, nor does it have any where near the same tech on board, a Ferrari or Aston r very exotic, but as reliable? Or with enough equipment? All in all a very very underated machine.

Plastic water pump impeller? Plastic timing chain guides? Plastic pipes and other heat-cycled critical components? What other cost-cutting, short-cut, run-during-warranty only, low quality features? How are the rod bearing tolerances, compared to the E60 M5?

I have like 2-3 friends with high performance BMWs, and it's a roller coaster ride between "awesome it's working today", and "#$(%)@ more plastic / quality failures today". Planned obsolescence is so infuriating, literally designing weakness into a system for financial reasons. The Japanese still care about quality (which means durability, reliability, longevity...not features, features, features). I wish the LFA would trickle down into a ~$120-150k car!

...for this technical info you should find some answer on the BMW FORUMS like Bimmerpost. Just remember rod bearings issue's are pretty old skool compared to the modern machines. Sump and tolerances are improved.

The M8 is a car that I kinda want and kinda don't want. I think the exterior styling is good, but not great, and I'm not sure the price vs worth is correct (I didn't drive the car I sat in). Given that, there's no way I'd buy this car new. And most likely not used either.

At least 7 minutes in and you haven't even given any decent all round shots of the car !! Just focusing your camera on specific parts of the body, Its annoying. Sorry to break it to you but the Mercedes S63 4MATIC both coupe and Cab is the way better car and for similar money.
