Very few people realize how much work is required to compete at the Olympic caliber. This short film takes a closer look at the philosophy and psychology of training to be the world's best.
Several athletes as well as the coach of the Canadian national rowing team were interviewed and asked a series of questions about their training and lifestyle.
There was no script for these interviews, they were merely edited into a 'condensed' format.
All footage was taken during workouts or at team meetings over the last 5 weeks.

I think you were effective because you took a sport that isn't insanely popular in Canada, and you made it relate-able, not by telling us what they do, but by telling us why they do it. I think anyone can relate to wanting something so bad that they need to make sacrifices (be it time, money, energy etc). It can inspire anyone who wants something bad enough to go through the rough parts. I play for the Canadian Field Hockey team and we're trying to make a video like this - you inspired us!

This is outstanding. Have to admit that I don't care about rowing, but I appreciate the hell out of the amount of work you guys put yourselves through to represent our Country well. Keep up the great work boys.

A comment like this means so much coming from someone that's not interested in rowing--if i can create a piece that appeals beyond only rowing enthusiasts, I know I've done my job! Cheers

are these weights in pounds or kg
@hurrhurrmurr
@hurrhurrmurr 12 лет назад
@IsleyNumber1 I know what you mean. I can't tell if they're in lbs, kgs or a mix of the two. That said though, when I rowed crew, we'd be doing stuff like 5x20 every morning for a week during 100% weeks and ergs in the evening, so you can't do 5x20x100kg+ every day. Olympic athletes train up to 3x a day all year and some of the guys will have been lightweight rowers (they look like it at least), so you wouldn't expect someone who is less than 70kg doing that every day.

I remember when I started rowing. Its pain and sometimes no motivation but we all create our motivation. The guy behind me or next to me in ny motivation. I would not give it up for anything even if i broke my back for my guys.
