Great to hear - having started my singing life as an Alto here back in the ‘70s in Norman Rimmer’s days. Thanks so much

That is an astonishing instrument. I know next to nothing about pipe organs and I'd just like to thank you for this!

"The guy that designed this organ was young and slim!" I've heard that before about a number of organs. I like your comment about the wind supply. I agree that slight variations in the pressure give the organ it's natural sound. I believe that as digital electronic organ technology has improved, the subtle ways in which the wind interacts with the pipes are what make the difference between a pipe organ and an electronic organ.

I love your explanation and confident answers. The Beeb should have you present a series (or several) on organs.

What an interesting video, I never realised just how complicated the whole organ set up was.

Love Jonathan's sense of humour at times ! This is a wondeful montage f the workings of the Waltham Abbey Organ. The firm Manders that rebuilt it sadly went out of business !

But are now back in business, I believe, having merged with FH Brown of Canterbury.

Yes that's correct. They actually aquired several items from them when they closedown. And some of the staff at F Brown trained at Manders !

Contra Trombone in this case, but yes, a reed toned 32'.

Clearly, the organist in this video, was not the best person to explain the mechanics of his instrument: a bit of the curates egg version I'm afraid.
