From what I know from speaking with these guys, it's extremely frustrating for soldiers to sit and wait. They are eager for action, knowing how much they can do, but they are ordered to stand ground and sometimes are even ordered not to engage back (big "thanks" to the president's "ceasefire"). I remember when I was at Fort Leonardwood waiting for my turn to use the electric m240 training equipment. There was this young guy who was training with us. He came from Ukraine and had a thick accent along with a name to hard for us to pronounce. So we called him “Z” or “Alphabet” he told us how poor he was after the annexation and how his family was and how shitty the living conditions were. Then he zoned out. After coming back to his senses he proceeded to say “this is crazy” we were all confused and asked him why. Then he talked about how when he was poor, he’d always watch American films especially ones that have to do with the American military. He said he thought that was so cool, but would never ever get to do that. He looks at his uniform and said “but now I’m here, an American soldier” I honestly thought this was the most inspirational thing that I’ve witness and a lot of us here take things for granted.

@ivanlagrossemoule 2 года назад
@@MC-tl7mj Canada and the US are some of the least corrupt countries in the world. It's not that they don't have corruption problems, it's that most of the world is simply more corrupt. In countries like Russia and Ukraine, corruption is something else entirely. Also I think it plays a huge role in the conflicts. Heavy corruption shifts the leadership from elected officials to various entities that might be companies, foreign countries, wealthy people or people powerful through crime. And those people will do everything to keep their positions of power no matter what. Joining the EU has huge anti-corruption requirements (there are many other requirements though) and those people do not want to get rid of corruption. This is part of why Ukraine has been struggling to meet some of the EU standards that just require willpower from the officials. The same way, it's why Russia consistently avoids good relations with western countries. If you want an equivalent, lobbying and bribes are why US politics consistently fail at providing realistic solutions to their healthcare issues and why so much of the system favours the rich.

No it's not that strange, Ukrainian militants usually hold conservative/right-wing western symbols and a lot of times they hold racist neo-nazi symbols, one of these symbols is the dixie flag and it's not used for the "southern pride" they usually have it because it's usage amongst American neo-nazis. Funny thing is, Nazis considered Slavs to be lowest of the low, and here are these bunch of idiots holding these signs up.

If total war kicked off and the Russians threw their total might at those lines... I think you couldn't argue anything else, but something akin to a hybrid invasion is more likely (from what I can gather... this is my opinion based on knowledge gained from various media) and what these lines are designed for... supplemented by heavy artillery in the rear and hopefully more plentiful tank destroying capacity (javelins being a new vector of defense) in the trenches... specifically in early battles, heavy armor was so effective and difficult to neutralize... they kept getting their heavy armor targeted leaving infantry incapable of fighting opposition armor

There is a civil war going on there. Authorities, Ukraine signed the Minsk agreements in 2014, but does not want to fulfill them. They constantly shoot at the cities of Donbass. When a civil coup took place in 2014, part of the population did not want to recognize this power. This power is alien to them, because they support Nazism. Literally today, President Zelensky awarded the Nazi soldier the title of Hero of Ukraine.

@@attaining-stoicism3271 Ironically I'd say Russia' propaganda is closer to the truth, but for the wrong reasons. Their justification that "Ethnic Russians have been killed off in Eastern Ukraine" could have potentially been a reasonable basis for occupying Eastern Ukraine, since 26,000 people have died since 2014, but as soon as they went towards Kiev they lost their reasoning. I don't like how everyone is painting them as Nazis, but the Nazis tried to genocide populations while the Russians have targeted Ukraine's government. Ukraine's propaganda has a lot of embellishments and fake reporting, but for morale. That said, I've tried to get my Grandma out of Ukraine and its the Ukrainians that are forcing her to stay in town without permission to leave. Now, assuming is you thinking that he is supposedly implying Simon is not around based off your own flawed understanding of the context of his sentence. He can say he misses Simon in the series.
