On January 27th, 2021 I linked up with a talented local Toledo, OH photographer, Anthony Orosz. We climbed some rooftops and explored a bit of downtown until we decided to enter the Spitzer Building. The building was created in 1896 then left completely vacant in 2013. We tour what's left inside and photograph thing that catch our eyes. Hope you enjoy!

I want your job when I grow up! I was just doing kind of the same thing. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator, which I never do. End up in basement of old wonder bread factory. Same thing when lived at commodore perry. There were some floors that weren’t touched yet and went exploring 😂

I used to work there in the 80s , at R.L. Polk, it was an older building, sad to see how it has been abandoned

My paternal Grandfather had his realty office in this building. He passed away in 1952, it was still a beautiful, well maintained building at that time. When Mother, Sister and I were in the downtown area we would often stop and visit him there.

About ready for that whole corner to get developed into mixed use, this will be a great video to look back on.

Same. Toledo has tons of potential and it will be amazing to see some investors bring life back to the city.

There are allegedly tunnels under the city. I find this interesting as another YTer is discussing this subject about a different state but it has Spanish ties which got me wondering. I know the tunnels were used during prohibition and there are many that connect all sorts of buildings. Tony Pacos used to connect to what was a bar on the east side which next to it (now a funeral home) was connected to it as well. There may likely be tunnels under the churches/hospitals. Either way, many of them are bricked off. When I was younger I worked as a cook in the aforementioned bar and when restocking I had to go into the basement, which was scary af. If you walked all the way to the back, there was an all cemented in room with a blood letting table as it used to be an embalming room! I did verify the tunnel entrance that passed to the other building (now a funeral home) but as mentioned it was indeed bricked off. This is a tad tl;dr I guess and I found your video as I was looking for anyone who may have went looking.

I'll keep my eyes peeled if I'm able to get back in. Heard they had secured just about every vacant building downtown some months back

@@Artxsify It's a unique location. It has the center garden visible from third floor as its roof, and the old skylights are right outside the windows. It was the field office for R L Polk & Company City Directory enumeration for about half of each year from before 1980 until 1995. It was a mess when I took over in '85, and since it wasn't occupied year round, it never did really get respectable.

It’s really too bad, that the photographer, doesn’t have much of a vocabulary. I wonder, where he went to school..
