I guess nowadays most people are envious and jealous, they are covetous! The reason is due to the bombardment of a materialistic lifesytle badly influenced from media, like the internet and tv. People were a lot more ignorant and innocent back then when there were less technology like that. More people were also religious from tradition, which teaches people to be righteous and good to others. Nowadays far less believe in God and consider themselves as their own God, living like an animal or just completely lost without righteous guidance.
