@@caldawg73 man, arroyo bring back memories, him singing to his Eastside fans. I am 54 now and let me tell you, I was stoked to get backstage passes in so. Or at 40 yrs old and found myself gettin stupid with the youngins. He is the gf of the bay. Thankful for my younger days and still bumpin from the 510 to 541.
Too $hort has worked hard for everything he got so he deserves that and everything he got if you look at it he’s giving it right back to the community who bought his records people who loved and enjoyed his shows. He’s giving back to their generation and their kids and their kids what more can you say about this man but he is a great entrepreneur. Keep up the great work and keep the loving music going as you do keep up the B word baby boy.
I’ve been a fan of Too Short since 1986 to now I love Too Short his lyrics and positivity of giving back to his people i use to play his music to piss people off
Freaky tales...bay area back then was him, DLoc/Ritchie Rich/DJ Jed.. 415. Back when that was the area code for the bay..no 510/707/650. Double R was spitting the sideshow back then..."Shorts coming thru in a benz with a kit"...Also IMP with Cougnut, I'm rolling still hits hard and scanless too. E40 and the click...Hugh E MC, Mac Dre, Spice 1, Totally Insane, 51.50. This was pre RBL, JT, Herm Lewis, GLP, who all inspired us before the hyphy movement. I still have all of this in my car Playlist...proudly representing the sucka free
Been mines since elementary school and I'm talking like 2nd-3rd grade an shit my father was bumping his music since the beginning of times straight out the trunk baby facts
Black men hated on short so tuff that he left the town but he still gave his real people a chance to come with him. Let it be clearly known that knowone ran him anywhere . Once he went to Atlanta he realized more love and respect for a young black man were much better in Atlanta. This is why myself who never left Oakland California always respected his move. I'm 62 years old and for 45 of those years I've been proud of dog .
I love Too $hort. I I grew up around him. We were from the same part of Oakland, East Oakland if you were from East Oakland you were somebody !!! we had a whole different vibe. We really enjoy our teenage years ,East Oakland’s swag was undeniable " we knew the same people and went to the same places same parties. He is a very driven individual role model influential person positive attitude, I am so proud of him and I love his music.
❤Too Short. Shout out from West Oakland. Back in the day we played Too Short Tapes he sold from the back of his drunk Ere Day. I Attended Fremont too, Same time Too Short Attended. I played Varsity Volleyball
I met (Too Short) back in 1991/ He was a special guest at a Talent Show Concert in Berkeley Ca. He's one Cool and Funny brother, he got jokes. but I will always listen to and collect his music because he is truly an Icon & a Legend of the Bay Area music scene 😎✌️
I met Todd in either 89-90 I used to be a car runner, picking up cars from auction Hayward auto auction. He was trying to get rid of tapes so I would see him in passing always kept it 100+ my name was Todd to used to go to parties up at the holy games college pioneer chicken underneath the overpass Todd used to be buying a big body Benz let me down and I’ll see him in the cafeteria at the auction they had good food in there. Glad to see he’s doing well.
True hustler. I like how his life is private. Any house yall probably been to wasn’t one where he laid his head. Still never seen pics of his parents, baby momma or his daughter.
Oakland california which just like every other country in America is full of talent young black women and men Mc hammer the whisper and so many others E40. Mac Dre the rapper forta so many great rappers from San Francisco . Vocal groups as well as rap groups.
The Late Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest lived in a neighborhood down the street from Too $hort. It's off a Cascade Road just outside of 285 Hwy. I used to kick it with Phife who used to Host one of our events in Atlanta. We also used to throw Mansion parties in Too $horts neighborhood.
El Sob in the house. Remembering when I was 17 and going to a party off of Amen Rd. Sherwood Forest homie and Vallejo driving American canyon.sportin the cutlass
Something is wrong. He built the first home in 2000 for $450,000 and then sold it in 2011 for $435,000? Too Short is not that kind of person. He’s going to make sure he is on top.
Dude if Short was born in 1966 how tf was he 14 droppin a album in 85 he was 19 in 85 and get in where u fit in came out in 93 not 2003 I’m from Frisco we grew up off Short just like Oakland get yo facts straight Biiiiiiiiiccccchhhhhhhh
@@disturbedconfessions no that person is not wrong. The person that made the video doesn’t have their facts completely right I was born in 93. I was just a couple months old when getting where you fit in came out heard the album that he dropped in 85. I’ve heard all of his albums and he’s made more than 16 of them. I grew up, listening to him and still listen to him to this day
Not in The Bay.....we fucked with his mixed tapes.....this documentary is quite correct....Born To Mack just showed that He Made It.....Been Fuckn with Short since "83"
hell yeah 75 girls. When I heard that disrespectful "3 decades" I was like wtf? and stopped watching this shit immediately. This is why Black Americans have to gatekeep our culture and tell OUR own story in truth. Cuz if we don't misinformation like this will spread and in 20 or so years BOOM! this bs becomes truth. Yall see the Latinos claiming to help Blacks "create Black Culture bka H.I.P. H.O.P.?" we gotta pull plugs on things like this before it gets even further out of hand.
Bro, I’m 47 and been listening to $hort from day 1. Born To Mack put him ON! He came up off Raw Uncut and X Rated but Born To Mack put him on Nationwide … he ain’t have no mixtapes, what you talking about?
Yup heard Too $hort Rap about a Tape called the Special Request where he would make a song all about the person who paid for it in the mid 80’s… Shouts out to the Bay for laying the independent rap game foundation.
Yeah, now days you don't want to flaunt your real worth, or the government will take it, or former girlfriends will take it...best to pretend you don't have much.
@@paranormalsaturday1131 I got a pretty significant amount all in Bitcoin and it is impossible to take it from me since it is locked on the blockchain. Thanks bud
Selling tapes out his trunk at arroyo park with that fu*ked up grill. The beginning. I could have made more than 5m in 40yrs just having them run track on e14. Regardless he a legend, back in the day people were signing contracts just to get 10-20k and they were happy not knowing how much the labels were making on them.
What he didn’t do nothing for Oakland all they talked about was San Francisco. I am born and raised in Oakland. I know about across the water. I have family across the water I represent Oakland all day. It’s just a bay thang
@AlexHarris651 real talk...rolling 50's, Acorn was serious in the 70's and 80's...like HP, Fillmore (McCallister), Sunnydale, Alemany blackhole, Valencia Gardens, Visitation valley, potrero hill, mission, Geneva towers, diamond heights (Addison), Army street, and the list goes on. Come correct or get caught slipping...same in Hayward, Vallejo, San Rafael, East Palo Alto, San Jose, to name a few.
When was he married? Short is really OAKLANDISH in erry way. Todd married would of been all over KMEL . 2 . Chuy Gomez , Mind Motion , Drew Hefner , Trace & Franzan would be all over this ......
I thought he was still in Atlanta. Funny how when their careers take off, they all run to Atlanta instead of helping their hometown flourish musically/artistically.
I remember living in the Bay, hearing his music in the mid 80's, I was addicted to Crack, he was singing about it, I felt HORRIBLE. I saw pics of him, his teeth were JACKED, that's why he never smiled in early photos. I heard drug dealers throwing in his face when he got big, how they got his teeth fixed.
I visited that house in Oakland about a month ago when it first went up for sale and I can tell you personally that too short does NOT own it and is NOT the last owner as she passed away in August and her son is selling the house! I believe someone put in an offer a week or so ago and the offer was accepted. I do know the offer was over $1M but I’m not sure about the exact amount?.. The house itself is not really impressive for that part of Oakland and the only thing i appreciated about it was the view but beyond that it’s pretty meh… Not sure where you’re getting these “facts” from, but they’re way off?!
