Concerning all the parts from plugin quality and stability, update policy, no dongle, no online registration, sound, UI scalability, kindness, future security, presets management, maintenance, support and service and and and...there is absolutely nothing in comparison to U-he. Have joy and never ending creativity :)

Wow, I can't believe I'm late to this party, lol. U-he and crew are easily the top five in anybody's list for vst development. The software is ridiculously meticulous and perfectly developed. Even though new fad synths come about every few years (Serum!) the real powerhouses remain with U-he. Zebra will always be my fav, I'm so scared for the beast that Z3 will be!

It's fantastic that U-he is planning a polyphonic Repro-1 ; it'll be interesting to see how that affects the popularity of the Prophet-6, OB-6 as well as their own Diva. As I've wanted a Prophet-5 for ages yet was underwhelmed by and immediately returned the Prophet-6 I bought in favor of Diva and Omnisphere 2, I'm excited about having a "real" Prophet-5 by U-he become reality !

U-He is such a cool company. I started out using their free plugins for quite a while. Then I finally bought Hive because it had so many cool presets, and because of the sequencer. Then Repro-1 came out and I didn't see the point of a monophonic synth for a while, but over time I started to realize there's still alot you can do with a mono synth. The sequencer though, that's what really sold me on it. Recently, I bought Repro-1, and I'm looking forward to future synths including Repro-5; it's actually going to be an 8-voice). I also want to mention that Repro-1 sounds really analog, which is a nice contrast to Hive,. Also, I really enjoy the interface on U-He synths.That's actually one of the main things that makes me want their products. Even the free synths have good interfaces. And, I like the way they make their demo versions. Anyway, great work and I continue to look forward to what Urs and the team have in the future.

From their computer screens it looks like they make their software in c++. I'm learning c++ and I heard that it was diverse and powerful but still, it's so strange to be using the same tools that the masters of the language use and yet the things that I can think of making aren't nearly as complex as what these guys can do. I feel like a child in their father's shoes. I know that one day I'll fill the shoes but I can't imagine myself growing from a small child into someone as mature as my father. A new project in Visual Studio screams to me like a blank canvas. While it's full of possibility, I have yet to harness the knowledge to craft something amazing. Code is power, my friends.

It's not too bad! We're going slowly but surely in my class so it's bearable. And yeah, I heard Reaktor was pretty powerful! I'm planning on getting it with the Komplete bundle in a couple months. I've heard nothing but positive reviews for it so I can't wait to try it out!

that delayed latency is actually that what a modularsystem user loves ! i don't know why U-HE wants to develop software with nearly 0 ms latency?
@EnochLight
@EnochLight 7 лет назад
Urs was talking in reference to the latency that currently exists between a GPU, the CPU, and audio interface - which is pretty horrible for real-time audio production (modular emulation as well). I know of no VST devs that currently make plugins designed to be processed on a GPU in a typical user system and be usable for live audio.
@krass76
@krass76 7 лет назад
PCIe is fast BUT it apparently (to my understanding) sends and recieves in chunks that are way too big for use in audio. what he meant is that the entire modular system would run on the GPU which already today has thousands of cores clocked at over a GHz and which communicate instantly with each other, meaning between the modules of the virtual modular system audio could be transferred in real time. The way I see it GPU developers would need to create a mode that transfers smaller chunks but more often for them to become useful for audio but since games are fine with these larger packets I doubt that will happen. CPUs in their entirety are probably going to get 40-50% better over the next 20 years, then I think there would have to be something entirely different from the silicon-based microchips we used for around half a decade now. But don't get your hopes up, quantum computing is probably rather ill-suited. We will have to discover the new stuff first.

@krass76
@krass76 7 лет назад
next thing we know some kid is going to figure out a way to run all the UAD plugins on that and then it's really going to be fun (because I suspect the UAD2 FPGAs to be quite old by now. (When was UAD-2 introduced, like 6 years back?) There probably are much faster ones out now). Anyways, a more open market with good competition means great things for us (as long as the competition isn't so hard that only the big companys can survive). Guys like Kazrog still have to exist then. Because most stuff Waves and NI do doesn't even sound THAT great.

Why not to bring the best quality now? Why manufactors decide for my self which quality i need? For real even thought they think they have they have no idie what i need. But the issue can be easily fixed by providing the best quality with selections of lower qualities so people decid by them self which quality they use. That is one of reasons go analog because with analog equipment the quality is always perfect in comparison to computer equivalents. But that is not the main reason. The main reson it is impossible to reproduces analog quaipment at 100% by modern computers because: 1)Modern computers are based on mathematic. And mathematic cannot replicate our world exectly as it is. It always does it approximately. But real world is continues and many other things mathematic will fail. 2)Real world has so many parameters going on that modern human knowladge has no clue of. 3)But even if all that were known to people how they can code billions of billions parameters which in addition interact with each other in no linear way?
