Will adding more holes on a trapezoidal exposed-fastened roof result in leakage? How complicated are solar installs on these types of roofs? Join us as explore these questions and more during a product install demonstration.
Join us as we break down a project install of the S-5! RibBracket™ III with the PVKIT® 2.0 (for rail-less solar mounting) on an exposed-fastened metal roof. We will discuss the entire installation process from the how-to through best practices. Considerations include pre-project planning such as pre-assembly of the PVKIT onto the RibBracket; proper installation of the bracket and prevention of leaks and water migration; and tips for making sure the array is square. We’ll also cover some basics on handling wire management and installing (MLPE) module-level power electronics.

All fastening systems come with specifications to respect. How do you respect the torque (NM) specifications with the driver tools used in the video?🤔

Is it better or at least ok for the ribbracket to be screwed into the double trapezoidal where panels meet together or should those double seems be avoided? Are there any benefits of using the PVKit with the Proteabracket instead of Ribbracket III? And how many PVKit and brackets per panel--looked like 4 were used per panel?

There will be no issue with going into the lap seams. The RibBracket III will be your best option as it has similar uplift values to the ProteaBracket and is much more cost effective and installs faster. For most installs 4 points of attachment is sufficient but if you live in a high wind or snow area sometimes 6 points or more may be needed. Our Solar Calculator can help design and layout your array and run all the calculations to determine exactly what you need. Sure seems like a slick way to add solar. You guys got anything like this for corrugated?
@TheMetalRoofingAcademy
@TheMetalRoofingAcademy 2 года назад
We sure do, please check out our line of brackets specifically designed for corrugated roofing. We have both sheeting-only brackets and brackets that attach into the underlying deck or purlin. Our CorruBracket and CorruBracket 100T are both compatible with the PVKIT (rail-less mounting) - which uses the exact same module grabs as you saw in the video, but with a different mounting bracket. If you are looking for added height when mounting solar with the PVKIT, we offer the CorruBracket 100T PV. This product is specifically designed for use with rail-less solar mounting. Please visit the links below to read some more details about these products. If you have additional questions, please reach out to us here or through support@S-5.com. Will the holes allow liking in the roof?
@TheMetalRoofingAcademy

Thank you for your question. All of our through fastened brackets utilize either an EPDM or butyl tape gasket to seal and prevent leaks and are ASTM tested for water-tightness and guaranteed to last the life of the roof without issue or maintenance.

Where are all the ground connections?
@TheMetalRoofingAcademy
@TheMetalRoofingAcademy 2 года назад
Grounding with the PVKIT is achieved through the round PV Disk at its base. It has sharp nodes that bite into the module frame creating a ground path to the next module that is resting on the MidGrab disk. Then, individual columns of panels can be grounded together using a bonding jumper or copper wire and lug instead of having to bond each and every module to one another.
