Using Occam's razor; if a great number of people start to sound like Bill Cosby when they're drunk it's more likely that Bill Cosby is just never sober.
I just love Don Adams' voice of Inspector Gadget. I mean he can be funny when he's sober, but when he's drunk 😂Oh God he is a real barrel of laughs! 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@PeachWookiee I wouldnt be surprised if childrens networks today refuse to broadcast this episode. Im surprised they allowed this back then, but I do remember this episode when I was a child. The irony is that Dr. Claw's organization is MAD, and the organization that would likely complain about this episode is called MADD.
Granted, in context, they skated a little by never mentioning alcohol, (aside from Dr. Claw's remark) and they just stated they "put something funny in his drink" to sabotage him during the race. Even the end of episode PSA about driving/road safety Gadget just remarks, "Don't drink strange drinks before driving."
Gadget-*eye starts twitching, points to the officer, voice sounds slurred* "Don't try gettin smart with me boy! YOU KNOW WHO I AM??..I was out saving the WORLD before you were even a 'thought' in your daddy's pecker!!..heh, heh..*hic*..So yeah..I 'know' the law!-" *suddenly barfs again all over the officers shoes* "...uhhh..yeah!..Maybe..I am 'slightly'..on thee intoxicated side!.."
You know what else is hilarious about this episode? Dr. Claw apparently flips off Gadget. It's not seen in the episode, but it is implied!! -Go go gadget snow gun! -Dirty snow in here. I'll get you for this, Gadget! -Hey, he's waving "thank you." Uh, yeah... sure he is!!
What's even funnier is I saw this episode last week on teletoon retro last week I had never seen of the episode up until that point. And boy did I laugh hard when I saw it the first time.
When I was a kid I thought that getting drunk MADE you have an unstoppable urge to drive a car. I mean that's what allways happened in the cartoons every time someone got drunk they'd steel a car and drive like a maniac.
Retro Gameing Guitarist no fuckin shit i freeked when i saw this as a boy the first time it aired lol still makes me laugh "GO GO GADGIT RAPE KIT!!!" LOL!
+Retro Gaming Guitarist You'd be surprised what they can show on kids shows today. Check out any episode of "Regular show". While they can't show or mention any alcohol, they do show characters behaving drunk after consuming large amounts of soda or chicken wings, and when they have too much and start to slur their words, they tell each other "Okay, I think You've had enough." Plus, that funny episode of "Avatar" where Sokka (one of the main characters) gets high after eating a bunch of mushrooms haha
@billtree52 yes, and at the end of each episode there'd be some morals, "how to be safe..." based on the episode's theme, like the circus episode: "don't try circus stunts at home!" Think they did it slightly better than the morals at the end of He-Man episodes! Gadget is a lousy enough driver anyway, they should have given him gadgets to make him better, and greater booze tolerance!
They would be Jonathan Brown bricks! Because after all, Jonathan Brown is Inspector Gadget's real name. It even says so on a card that was produced before the 1999 film.
I think he would rock all three! Happy and silly at first, then becomes emotionally sad with himself, then if someone were showing sympathy, he'd suddenly get highly offended thinking they were pitying him and want to kick their ass before passing out all in the same sentence! :D Then wakes up the next morning with a massive headache and not remembering what happened! All he can hear are bells ringing in his head that won't stop, until he realizes that the ringing is coming from his hand and let's out groan!...Ahhhh..I love Gadget!!! Poor bastard!!! :DD
I remember seeing this episode on TV back in the day. Man those days were something else, yeah? Alcoholic references are practically faux pas in today's children programming, are they not?
Man, I hate it when the police abuse their authority to break the law and get off scottfree. For shame, I remember when a badge used to mean something.
I've heard about this scene but finally watched it for the first time just now. I remember watching inspector gadget on Nickelodeon in the '90s. Didn't realize the show actually originally aired in the '80s. Anyways I don't recall ever seeing this scene when I watched it on Nickelodeon. Perhaps maybe they never aired this episode. I wonder if I'd ever find this episode on streaming sites that have the show today.
Whoa...just whoa. Never thought I'd ever see Inspector Gadget drunk driving, this is so random. Was the Public Service Announcement at the end of the episode about how drunk driving is bad?
Oh yeah, I remember seeing this as a kid, and I didn't understand. Like, why was Inspector Gadget acting all silly? Back then was a more peaceful time, where I didn't have to worry about drunk driving... Which is weird, because even WITH the don't-drink-and-drive message at the end of the show, it still didn't sink in.
