I guess DiC and Tribune felt that the original "Inspector Gadget" TV series wasn't good enough to meet the E/I requirements (either that or because it had 86 episodes), so they instead went with the 1996 spinoff "Inspector Gadget's Field Trip" that originally aired on the History Channel. At least it had Don Adams reprising the role of Gadget...
Recorded off WSBK-TV in 2004, back when it was a UPN station.

Growiing up I watch Inspector Gadget reruns a lot as a youngster (and still now) in the late 80's/90's, early 2000's, and 2010s (born in '86) when it was on Nickelodeon, CBS (with a appearance on their Saturday morning/afternoon lineup late in the 1991-1992 season), local syndication (distributed by Bohbot Entertainment), The Family Channel, and ABC/Fox Family, and Starz Encore Family. This show, Inspector Gadget's Field Trip, an Inspector Gadget spin-off incarnation, was released late in 1996 to 1998, on The History Channel, where the show continued in reruns until the year 2000. A year later, In 2001, the show began airing reruns in syndication in order to fill respective station's E/I guidelines, and later aired as part of the E/I DIC Kids Network syndicated block from September 2004 until 2006. I saw the DiC Kids' Network when I first and last saw it air on TV when it was a high school from 2003 to 2006. A Spanish-dubbed version aired on Univision's Planeta U block on Saturday mornings as Los Viajes de Inspector Gadget from the block's premiere from April 5, 2008 to May 29, 2010 when it was taken off the lineup. During the opening sequence, an image of the Temple of Saturn in the ancient forum in Rome, Italy, is presented with the label of "Greece." The show available to stream on Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access).

I used to watch this on KBHK channel 44 cable 12 from 2004-2005, and again on KTVU channel 2 from 2006-2007 after KBHK and KOFY stopped airing DiC's syndicated block for good. And the reason I watched it is solely because of Inspector Gadget.

The original will ALWAYS be the best. No matter how many horrible sequels, spin-offs, and that dumb-ass live action movie that Satan wouldn't even accept if you offered it with your soul, the original 1983-1985 toon will always kick ass.

Gadget boy got a educational series too?
@IMEEntertainment
@IMEEntertainment 4 года назад
It was more or less like the regular series, but with educational elements added to fulfill E/I criteria and the concept of having Gadget Boy and Heather going back in time to stop Spydra. It’s pretty much a second season, although it’s odd why it aired on The History Channel, as the first season aired on a Bohbot Entertainment syndicated block called Amazin’ Adventures II.
@Mesterius1
@Mesterius1 4 года назад
@@IMEEntertainment The second series of Gadget Boy (or season, if you will) aired on the History channel because the History Channel ordered it. It wouldn't have existed otherwise. That's of course also why the show was retooled into "Gadget Boy's Adventures in History".

That’s interesting! They must have been the ones who requested Field Trip to be made as well.

I had no ideas that this existed until I got older thanks to the documentary “The rise and fall of DIC” and seeing the China episode annotated through RU-vid. Growing up I watched Inspector Gadget a lot with my older brother as a kid in the late 80s/early 90s (born in 1985) when it was on Nickelodeon and local syndication. Your right,Inspector Gadget’s field trip is more like a lazy cash grab (the document on DIC said the same thing about it).You can tell this was cheaply made (DIC= Do it cheap) by using cheap animation and using random stock footage. Can’t believe this was released in 1996 on the History Channel.I mean how many 90s kids were nostalgic over the History Channel.As a kid in the 90s,I didn’t have the History Channel because it wasn’t included in my cable package since it was a premium channel.I don’t think a lot of 90s kids went out their way to watch the History Channel. I also don’t remember WSBK 38 playing it either since in 2003-2004 I was getting older by then and was busy in High School/College.

What's EI requirements mean? Also, could you upload more musical cues from the 1980s Inspector Gadget cartoon? There was a sinister theme that played in the episode Gadget's Gadgets near the climax where the machinery is about to zap a laser at Gadget, but Brain moves the laser's trajectory.

Good God I remember watching this everyday before school. I think it's cool but also weird that such a dumbass character like Inspector Gadget is doing history and geography, but hey, I learned a lot from this oft-forgotten show.

Inspector gadgets field trip to me is basically a cash grab Now granted it’s an interesting concept of seeing gadget go around the world but this show looking back felt more like a low budget National Geographic documentary styled show rather than gadget doing what he does best Now granted I understand that this show was made to make education fun and to be fair it’s not really the worst thing dic has done but when you compare it to the original inspector gadget it’s basically a cash grab If I want to know about a historical landmark I would watch a nat geo documentary about it not really this show I actually remember this series when it was on yahoolagins.com (a children’s version of yahoo) Back then they got a ton of dic entertainment stuff that’s were I first got exposed to the super Mario brothers super show Overall inspector gadgets field trip conflicts me I’m glad they’re making gadget relevant again but this really isn’t the way to bring back the character (opinion respected) And for the record the original inspector gadget should’ve took its place as the psa’s at the end of each episode count as an e/I requirement

Yep, but I assume DiC would've just cut out the PSAs at the end of each "Inspector Gadget" episode if it aired as part of the DiC Kids' Network syndication package, just as they cut the "Little Ideas For Big People"/"A Little Known Fact" segments from "The Littles." And yep, I remember Yahooligans as well. At least they showed "The Littles" mostly uncut, compared to the syndication package.
@iHeartsNostalgiaPit

wait yahooligans was showing tv shows before streaming services were a thing? okay suddenly I can understand why the Yahoo Billboard was in the live action movie
