Brad you bring out the best of Evangelism, without man's judgemental nature in his interpretation of the Bible. Your past pastorship in Protestantism, and today's grounding in Eastern Orthodoxy, has been a blessing to all hearts who God is stirring in "seeking to find." Not religious dogma as such, but the realisation of Christ Jesus in ourselves (Galatians 1/16) who saves and redeems in this life. And for those who fail to see? A refinement by GOD/ LOVE'S fury eliminating all that which was not of Love's kind. APOKATASTASIS! Universal restoration of ALL things, affecting God's New Age to come. For us yet to come, for those who have gone on before us a reality. Brad thank God for your love of the Bible, and your desire to free us from the modernity of Fundamentalism, which as you mentioned has caused so many to walk away from the REAL beauty of the Christian Gospel.

The scriptures are inerrant on what God desired to teach. Definitions Infallibility: immune from fallacy or liability to error in expounding matters of faith or morals by virtue of the promise made by Christ to the Church. Inerrant:free from error on what God seeks to teach. Inspiration: divine influence exerted upon the mind or soul.

Who has the final authority to interpret "This is My Body ", ( Matthew 26:26). God's peace always

You need to determine what God via his divine influence on the human author seeks to literally teach. First in the literary sense, second in the spiritual sense: based off the literary sense (aj the allegorical or typological sense, along the line of faith, (b) the topological or moral sense which flows along the line of love and (c) anagogical sense which flows along the line of hope.

There was an old woman who swallowed a fly, I don’t know why she swallowed a fly Perhaps she’ll die.. So this lady unknowingly sinned because we live in an imperfect world that the destroyer wants to finish. Its spoilt! The lady has some sense in which something is wrong, she is not well, will she die? She decides she needs to do something. She resorts to her knowledge of the world to injest something that will deal with the fly…a spider! Note she has not refered to the maker for a solution. She procedes to choose more and more drastic solutions that eventually lead to the destroyers wish. She’s dead of course! This is how evil brings destruction because (the real cause) the woman in the sad children’s tale has rejected by implication her throwing herself upon Gods mercy. There could be more in a redemptive final story but here ends a not so modern parable to show how evil multiplies destruction! Mike from Liverpool

The “canon of faith” is not what Jersak says. It was used by Irenaeus to designate the received tradition taught in the churches, namely, that there was only one God and one Lord Jesus Christ. This teaching matched the scriptural witness (which the Gnostics rejected). Irenaeus’ argument was, if the Gnostics would not accept scripture, they should at least see they also oppose the teachings of the churches which the Apostles founded. The irony here is that the proposal of Jersak treats the OT just like the Marcionites who Irenaeus opposed. He is separating the status of the statements of OT from the promises in the OT. Jesus did not do this. The apostles did not do this. The early church did not do this. There are much better ways of addressing the difficult passages in the OT (and NT for that matter). It become impossible to do this when you reject moral retribution after a long mercy of forbearance as being just. The problem is not that the scriptures and Jesus’ view of justice contradict. The problem is that calling the destruction of the unrepentant is wicked itself creates contradiction.
