Loving the transformation of the ghost print! All that yellow really had me worried but, wow- the copper and pthalo blue really work well together, and they subdued and contained the yellow so perfectly! I'm struggling with color palettes on my Gelli plate right now, in all dimensions. So this was greatly inspiring to see your transformation of the ghost. 🙏
Loaded 54 minutes ago, already 64 viewers. Some of us really look forward to your new posts. I wont have time to watch this morning, but look forward to seeing it leisurely this afternoon. Thank you for introducing us to all these artists and print makers. I have a whole new appreciation for their work.
All those little marks in the Stella print are echoed in your own using a different technique with oil resist. The ribbony red marks in the second print create a surprise crisp form. The way oil resist breaks up areas of acrylic paint where needed gives a singular stamp to your gelli technique. I hope the smoky New York air is not attacking your lungs too severely, Fulton.
That first one with all the texture and the white veil was fantastic! I loved the texture and didn’t want to see it covered, but your instincts were right and the final result was great.
That oil resist layer just seemed to jump the print forward in the direction of Frank Stella’s print. Wow! Amazing complexity. 👏 Love seeing the Stella print & your interpretation side by side! 59:46 Love the “accidental gift.”
Wow! Stellar work inspired by... Frank Stella! I really enjoyed watching each step of your work... all the way through. It's really such a treat to see you experiment with the textures, layers, mark-making and ... woah... oil resist! I missed a trick there with the oil and vaseline... I must go to the "back catalogue" of your videos and see what that's all about. Really super cool stuff, thank you! By the way -- after watching your art supply "haul" video, I checked out the Fabriano and Somerset lines of paper... I immediately bought some -- of both (!) to try! It's so reasonably priced here that even I could afford it ! 😀 You tipped me earlier about paper but I was not ready to move up. Still not -- but sooooooon! So. Thanks again for the tip and, let me add my praise and thanks to the many you receive from your other followers! You rock! 🙂
Fascinating processes snd results. So glad you zoomed in for close ups. If I were not already a fan of yours, I would become one today. Its wonderful to see your interpretation of inspiration pieces, without any attempt to copy. Thank you again.
Love these. When you are offloading paint on another paper, keep those and you can use them later with extra printing and collage. I keep a watercolor paper that I like when printing, and sometimes the roll off papers are nicer than the print when I’m done. I cannot for the life of me get good results from the oil resist! I am working on it. I am loving your style and videos!
I always take a quick photo of my stencils on the gel plate before I put the paint on. Then when I go to remove them I can see what little pieces I might have forgotten. I also use painters tape to make exactly on the table. It makes the registration process easier.
Very interesting and inspiring! The edges of your gelliplate seem to 'wear' a bit out. Mine looks the same in the meantime. Do you have any experience in cutting them level?
I must confess I had to trim off the dog eared part as it was driving me crazy, obviously I did a lousy job. But I don't mind the ragged edge, it complements the process.
Really enjoying these videos...would be helpful to know for each color used if it is a transparent or opaque color...don't quite understand how the oil resist can get brayered without schmering and soaking into the paper...is this method archival?
Bravo! I love how it all comes together 😍 Question for you. How do you store the large gel plate so that it does not dry out? I'm thinking about purchasing one and from what I read it does not come with the plastic enclosure like the smaller plates.
I Iove how you are using the gelli plate to create your prints. I'm learning a lot from you but have a question. Why do you use expensive paper and cheap/student grade acrylic paint (Artist Loft)?
@@artwhisperer88 Thanks. Whatever works! I'm going to try some of this paint tomorrow. I can't afford to keep buying more Golden paints to fill out my color palette so this would be a wonderful alternative. And, if it make it easier to clean my gel plate, that would be great.
