@DrProctor - please turn Haley"s amazement into a poster 0:45, 0:59 or 1:26. I am sure a lot of us would want to keep that memory you both shared with us! Maybe Kleenex can do an ad around that too because I still tear up every time
literally the fact they don't speak aside from "holy shit!" and "oh my gosh!" says it all. What an amazing moment to share w/the world! Thank you so much! Just watched the final episode of the Netflix series and it brought me to tears getting to live that w/you and your families. Thank you for allowing the rest of us to see what that would be like from so many different perspectives (SpaceX employees, their families, friends, loved ones).
@@Yougimpytube with Bezos system - I just feel he isn’t even in the running - not just the race, but he thinks he has a chance with some type of competition, hence he tries to take SpaceX to court because he feels “slighted “ that he can’t keep up - Elon musk and SpaceX has being doing its thing for a long time now and he has moved on to his next level of space exploration while still taking people amd supplies to the space station- Jeff Bezos is barely getting off the ground- I find that attitude dumb and arrogant
@@peanuts2105 - hahaha - When Bezos and his missus met Leonardo DiCaprio, she played the fan girl and Bezos ended up placing a photo of him standing behind a sign that said - Dangerous drop, don’t go any further - with a quote “come here Leo” - yeah, ‘bout time he grew up
I really think this is going to go down as one of the greatest videos in spaceflight history. The symbolic moment that space began to open to all the world - I have to credit Sian for taking the video - whether intentional or unintentional, there's something about that pan back down to Hayley, looking at the Earth in awe, that always brings me a great sense of inspiration.
Sadly, regular civilians will never be able to go to space, only people with money, power, influence or have made contribution to the world are allowed to be out there, and I don't think human civilization will survive long enough for space travel to be commercially viable. Technically speaking, unless we have outta space colonies with McDonalds or 7-11s, you will be just a worthless meat bag that's constantly consuming their precious oxygen and producing wastes that also require energy and resources to get rid of, unless you're a scientist, engineer or an elite.
I was watching Hayley all during launch - what little could be seen of her on the far end. Her mouth wide open, and her arms roll were worth the mission.
Fuck. I'd probably shed a tear or two if I got to be there. Y'all are just a couple of people. Just living your best lives tryin to make it in this world and y'all get the chance of a lifetime.
Late to the party but... It's really telling that this starts out with the 'mercan "ooh maa gaad" ... but then that serene silence of awestruck-ness prevails. Beautiful and fitting.
Thanks for sharing! So beautiful! You all should be so proud of yourselves! What you did plus the experience... All just breathtaking! Thank you so much for sharing your amazing, breathtaking journey with us all!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Well done Inspiration 4! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 ✌🏻🤗🙋🏼❤️💙🤘🏻
This is more than amazing! 4K space videos are always the best, and this copula made it one step further! Next stop: 4K videos from the moon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@TheDaexiled1 I think they are not allowed to go to them because they are considered a landmark. But we already have pictures from orbit of them, but if someone decided it didn't happen nohing can convince them!
You can ask any astronaut that's been to space, seeing the earth from that point of view changes a human on a fundamental level. It's one of the most profound things that anyone could experience, you can see the look in her eyes in the last frames of the video.
I always thought that space would become available for everybody in my lifetime. Who knows maybe I'll live long enough for it to come true. I still get glued to the window of a commercial airliner when I fly. My generation was the 1st to have cheap access to 35,000 ft. above the earth.
"Ho -ly shit...!" Love that. How genuinely human. Yup. I'd have probably rehearsed over and over something really cool, amazing and Neil Armstrong-like to broadcast to the world below. But in reality, when that door opened, "Ho-ly shit" would be all I'd probably be able to say...
Keep in mind this wasn't their first view of Earth. They had already been up there for many hours looking out of Dragon's two other windows and could see the cupola through the small window built into the hatch long before opening it. They were also gathering footage for the Netflix documentary.
It is sad that these videos are getting no views because of how late they were posted. These should have been posted while they were on orbit. Hopefully the final episodes on Netflix will bring some more attention but a big opportunity was missed.
I think it's more because: - it was uploaded to Twitter nearly 2 days ago and got 1.1 million views - some random You Tube channel uploaded a copy of it shortly afterwards, and it wasn't taken down, so a lot of non Twitter users might have watched that instead - many people won't realize that this version is (presumably) much higher quality than the Twitter version (and copies of that version) N.B. I hope the random You Tube channel isn't profiting from the fact that it has diverted some attention away from the official channels that are fundraising for St. Jude.
What Peter said - and the repost by "Maganopigadus" on YT has over 100k views as of writing this (vs. 2k for this). Usually it also has to do with thumbnails and titles, otherwise YT's algorithm won't recommend it to other people. I imagine the admin of the Inspiration4 channel isn't very well versed in this - and it's quite common for repost channels to get many more views if they're much better at making titles and thumbnails for the algorithm
On the in-orbit uploading: I saw Elon Musk post about having wifi and an oven in the next version of Dragon, so presumably they were only connected to ground station with the onboard systems like the communicator and camera, and not with their phones. It might have taken a while before all recorded video and photos were downloaded from their phones and sent to the respective social media representatives of Inspiration4. Probably there's some reviews going on with SpaceX and Netflix as well as they have a stake in this. Let's see with Axiom next year if they made any progress on this subject.
It is so sad that in the 20th century. There are still people that think Earth is flat. No hope for humanity. We are stepping back in time. So many comments of flat Earthers.
The music was perfect. Don't know if it was added after or "live" during the opening but it was perfect. hayley is a new star and should be doing all kinds of PR for St. Jude and SpaceX.
Looking down at the only planet your species has ever inhabited from far beyond the safety of its atmosphere has to be one of the most humbling experiences one can have. There’s a solemn grandeur to seeing a planet in its entirety from orbit. Suddenly you get a better idea of just how small you are on the cosmic scale.
Holy shit. My fav part about this is how much it feels like a commercial plane but bigger on so many levels. Just the way everything looks so uncluttered and white with that roar in the background. Makes you feel like you are there with them.
This has always been the realm of the private sector. NASA, being a government-funded program, would never have had the managerial or financial freedom to enable the kind of R&D that SpaceX and other companies have. While I’m glad for the restraints that NASA initially put in place on space borne weapon development during the Cold War, this is where spaceflight truly belongs: in the hands of the people who are willing to try and fail, just like the Wright Brothers and many before them.
If the music was going to make references to _2001_ like that, then as a zero G indicator they should have also used the dried up bone of a dead chimpanzee 🦴 .
Chris Hadfield has mentioned before that it accumulates on the eye and eventually makes you blinded (i.e. as if underwater). But tissues, fingers etc. should be able to remove it without a problem.
@@alpachinobarlatino2290 I'm not 100% sure. Chris Hadfield's story was about a spacewalk where one eye was irritated and it made him blind over time with no ability to remove it. You might be able to shake a good portion out but you also don't necessarily want tear drops flying everywhere in a tight space with other people (and electronics?).
They are flat earthers who have serious problems with their lives and think that downvoting and leaving an edgy comment on a beautiful video of space will somehow fill the hole in their life.
0:58 the coolest moment when almost everyone silently looks at the Earth in awe. I would never forgive myself if I was on the phone at such a moment. And I think "Space Oddity" would fit better :)
@@mmb3006 also when the first fusion reactors start, we'd have created the sun. So, fire was day 1. Fusion reactors are day 4. We are technically living as gods.
"Holy Sh*t !" ~ Other crewmember squints at small screen to record the BIG view outside... (also sprach zarathustra - playing on small tinny speakers ) ~ Kubrick is spinning in his grave, and Arthur C Clarke is just chuckling ... "Ohhh Humans... "
It looks like the sky to me ... I still could never ever go to space ... My anxiety starts kicking in just thinking of it .. omfg I'd deff get a heart attack ..
In case that is sarcasm, this wasn't their first view of Earth. They had already been up there looking out of Dragon's other two windows for many hours and could see the cupola through the small window built into the hatch long before opening it. So this moment wasn't as mind-blowing as if it had been their first view overall.
