Episode One:
Former coal miner Nipper MacLeod hails from New Waterford and is a lead singer with the Men of the Deeps coal miners choir. He also plays guitar and is known for his many mining and Cape Breton songs, including his much loved rendition of Rita MacNeil’s “Working Man”. Nipper performs regularly at house parties, concerts and clubs on Cape Breton Island.
In this video Nipper brings us to his place of inspiration, The Miners Museum in Glace Bay, Cape Breton Island.

Well done! My Great Grandfather Fred Gouthro, his son, my great uncle, Alec Gouthro, both of Glace Bay, worked the mines their entire lives. Uncle Alec was in the big mine disaster and became disabled. Brings tears to one's eyes. Miners are true heros, all great men!

My Grandfather was a miner for 50 years in cape Breton.. yes 50 years! Thank you Nipper for representing the miners so well. Missing the old days when my parents (Russ & Ebby Michalsky) would bring me to the kitchen parties with Nipper and Rita McNeil.. I can still hear the music... it’s in my soul!

Hi Nipper, You and I went to elementary school (St. Michaels) together plus to BEC. It has been many, many years ago so you probably don't nremember me. My name is Margaret Mac Neil and my brother was Junior Mac Neil from Lingan. I just wanted to say hello and to tell you I love your voice and listen to you /The Cola Miners Choir as much as I can. Hi Nipper, from Saskatchewan. Been to see you at the Museum several times. My dad left Cape Breton 1947 when the mines closed. Enjoying your new CD Cheers
