I am a 72 year old women that likes outdoor activities. I own a Go Pro Hero 3 that I never really got the hang of. I have decided that this is the camera for me. Pre-ordered your book! Getting the camera in February when the budget permits!
Great video Jordan, I’ve just finished filming my first video for my own channel using this action camera and you have definitely saved me some time. I’m blown away by the run time from the battery, and the fact this camera doesn’t overheat is a game changer for me. I’m just about to start editing my footage and I’m already impressed with the clarity of the sound without the mic adapter. I wish I had watched your video before my first shoot as I think I’ve filmed a daylight scene in the night mode 😂
Hi!!! I already brought My new ACE pro here at Honolulu and your explanation of functions of this great camera, opened My eyes....thanks a lot...hat off
Great video. Must have watched it 20 times now. It has really helped me with my Ace Pro since I got it 3 days a go. Thank you, subscribed, and Merry Christmas!
I have been using GoPros since the Hero3 so I consider myself pretty experienced. However any time I have upgraded my camera which has been a lot I still purchase your books because they are just so well done. About a year ago I upgraded my GoPro Max to an Insta360 X3 and fell in love with the Insta360 platform and of course bought your book as I did when I purchased the Go3. I just received my Insta360 Ace Pro a couple of days ago and the first thing I did was to look for your book on it, but could not find it. Very happy to know it is now available and will be downloading it immediately. I also recommend your books to ally friends that use action cameras, especially the ones that are new to the game. Keep up the great work.
Ahhh that makes me really, really happy to hear! What an honor that you have found so much help with my books. It's always a commitment when I dive into creating a book for a new camera, so it's really rewarding to hear from long time readers like you! Thank you so much for all of your support and for recommending my books to your friends. If you ever have a chance to leave a review on Amazon for any of my books, it really does help me out a lot. I love for readers to get honest reviews!🙏
Hello Jordan, I am new to all this and I just ordered a new Insta360 ace pro and want to order your book but I’m not sure how to do that. Would appreciate you sharing how I can maybe grab a link or how I go about ordering it. Thank you for your help.
They completely won this round, but I want to see what are going to be the next bells and whistles on the next generation when all 3 have seen Insta’s great ideas and major chances…..nice video thanks 🙏 may you all have a great holiday season
Yes, the Ace Pro will deftinitely push a fresh round of innovation on the next round of action cameras. Those 48MP photos and 8k video set a pretty high bar.
thank you HatTrick. this was a nice little into to my new camera, and def saved me time.. for anyone starting on this.. i filmed in the default 24fps the first time, and i walk in my vids.. so it was choppy. I went back to the 30, (and sometimes 60) on the GP's I USED to use...
Wonderful review. You covered a lot of ground in this one and showed me a few things I was not aware of. Of course, I've only had my Ace Pro for about a day. One thing in particular that I like: you didn't try to compare (by name) this camera to it's competitors. Which almost everyone knows who they are. And almost every other reviewer does. I have mostly relied on my GoPro Hero 10 Black for the last few years to use in my vlogs as well as a regular video camera. One of the most frustrating things with that model was it's inability to capture clean low light footage. On a motion lapse it was fine, but for straight video, not at all. Also, one of the things I noticed right away on the Ace Pro was the much improved audio. It's not as clear as a lavalier mic system, but for on the fly video capture it does very well. You've got a new subscriber as well. I very much like your level, even way of making your point.
This camera has been an eye opener for me as to its capabilities that far exceeds anything I expected. I just got mine and will play with it this weekend. Your video was very useful for giving me an overview. I did pre-order your book. Thanks - it will be a great in-depth resource. I did order the audio interface - so will have to experiment with that. The real question is when I bring it into Davinci Resolve and then try to do multi-cam with other cameras - especially my iPhones with BMC app, and a drone to be able to do some creative editing switching different perspectives. It would be great if you follow up with a series of videos expanding our knowledge of this powerful and amazing camera. Thanks again for educating us. ♥♥♥
Hi Chris, Thanks so much for the comment! Glad to hear that you are enjoying the Ace Pro's capabilities. You should have no problem creating videos using multiple cameras since the Ace Pro records mp4's. Stay tuned and I'll try to create some more videos to help with other aspects of the Ace Pro. Thanks again!
I watched your video and bought your book. Thanks for all the helpful advice. I can use the app on my cellphone to view my videos and photos and download them to my cellphone, so they are communicating. But your book says I am able to use the app to control things as the camera is recording. I do not see any way of doing that and I would like to because if I mount the camera to my chest for a walk, I would be able to control it with the app on the phone. Can you or someone advise me? Thank you.
excellent video, I just bought this camera! Any suggestions on mode(s) to use for the upcoming eclipse? My intent is not to capture the eclipse itself, but rather the people and surrounding environment as it transitions to totality.
After three days on Chat with Support, I learned that I need a better graphics card - GTX 1060 or better - to watch my Insta360 Ace Pro videos. I have wasted days trying to get this to work. Do I want to return the camera or spend $300+ on a new card or return the camera? Decisions, decisions. Do you have a recommendation for a graphics card?
I would really like a print version of this book, like you have done with GoPros. I just don't find Kindle versions user friendly.....but then, I'm old.
Hi Keith, I hear you- I really like having a print version too. I have been workin on it, so let me see what I can do. I'll let you know if I get it published (hopefully soon).
Great guide, Jordan! May I know which external mic you would recommend for this Ace Pro? Perhaps you could suggest one for self-talking/blogging and one for capturing the surrounding audio. Thanks!
Amazing review. What is the best selfie stick that you can use to connect electronically to the camera to take pictures or record using a button on the stick?
Thank you, very helpful! If you need to record an interview with someone in the field is the in-camera-mic good enough for both people such that no one needs to wear a mic? If more audio recording (boost?) is needed is there any way to sync/attach an external mic? And are the extendable selfie-stick and boom invisible on selfie recordings? That was the initial feature that attracted me to an insta360 camera originally, but they don’t look “invisible” in your video here. Hope all those ?s make sense. Thanks again!
Great questions! I've found the in-camera quality is really clear and would be more than acceptable for interviews. However, if you want to add an external mic, you can use the mic adapter and plug a mic in. You can also boost the external mic in the settings even more if needed. As far as the invisible selfie stick goes, this is a regular single lens action camera, not a 360 camera, so the selfie stick will be visible in the shot if it's in the shot when you film. Insta360 has a tool to erase it in the their mobile app, but you may be looking for a 360 camera like the X3 if you want those invisible selfie stick shots all the time. I hope that helps you decide!
Thanks for this excellent tutorial video, this is one of the best for ace pro. I just bought and this helps me a lot. What is the best water resistant selfie stick to use this under wet conditions.
You're very welcome! If you are looking for a floating handle that will float the Ace Pro with its larger size, I put a link in the description to the DJI handle. I use the Insta360 Invisible Seflie Stick in the water too, but it doesn't float and you need to be very careful that no sand is on the pole when you compress it. The sand can get stuck in the extension pieces and make it impossible to open or close. I hope that helps!
Thank you! Regular video mode has a Horizon Lock lens, but it levels the Horizon when the camera tilts slightly. Pure Video does not have any horizon lock, whereas FreeFrame Video has the full 360 Horizon Lock.
How do you remove the massive amount of video noise? When exporting i tick the option "remove grain" but it doesn't help at all. How much post processing do you do?
Hi! Do you have a video comparison for insta360 go 3 and ace pro? I'm having a hard time to decide which will I get since it is my 1st action cam. Hope you notice my comment😊
Thanks for the walk through! I was wondering if the editing on the studio desktop is the same as editing on the phone? I mean all the features like AI etc.
Any tip for getting the warp to be fully gone? I just got the Ace Pro and while it's nice, I don't find it better than the GoPro Hero 12. The de-warp on the Ace Pro does not fully de-warp. I also don't find the video quality as great as everyone posts about. My side-by-side comparison shows the hero 12 to have better clarity. I use the hero in 5.3k with flat coloring. I have used the Ace Pro in 6k and 4k with flat and medium color and neither produced results as good as the Hero 12. I'm trying to find what I'm missing since everyone who posts about the Ace Pro says it is superior to the Hero 12 in video quality. Any thoughts?
Hi Stacy, Active HDR only works in regular Video Mode. If you want to create motion blur in bright daylight, ND filters will help, but Insta360 also added a new Motion ND effect in their apps that will help add motion blur after you record.
sir insta 360 pro mai portrate mode mai video or photo capture kar sakte hai kya or sir live streming mai add kar sakte h kya please sir reply me Thanks 🙏
Hello Jordan, I just got my Ace Pro and can't find how to rotate the footage 180 degrees after recording with the top of the camera facing downwards on the chest strap. Is there a way to do that on Insta360 app?
Nice video! Which one do you recommend between Gopro 12, dji action 4 and this Insta360 ACE PRO for riding in Vtt bike, skiing, jet skiing, recording Balads and family life moments day and night? I think Ace pro is the best choice, don't you?
With non removable lens and almost same night shots I think dji action 4 would be better choice since we get adventure pack at same cost which has 2 extra batteries and charger, extra lens etc with dji.
Hi! Well, that is a very tricky question because of the wide variety of filming conditions. The Ace Pro definitely takes the cake for the night moments. Recording family sports and activities from a distance is also going to be better with the Ace Pro because of the 8k sensor, which allows 2x zoom without losing resolution. For all of the action sports, the Hero 12 would take the lead with it's super wide angle lenses and stabilization. But the Ace Pro is comparable in those aspects as well. Besides the low light filming and 2x zoom, I would say it comes down to preference. The DJI Action 4 also produces really high quality videos, not quite as good at night as the Ace Pro, but the quality in bright light is really good. Honestly, I like all three of them. Which company and style camera feels better to you? I hope that helps you decide.
@@JordanHetrick the fact we will have to agree is at night video definitely ace pro outsmarts dji but people who don't live in USA it is a problem with removablr lens cover if damaged. Could you please clarify whether by clicking shutter button we can pause and resume video. Since I mount it on helmet it is not possible to use front screen to pause and resume since we wear heavy gloves too. 2. Whether any type of tws Bluetooth ear phones we can pair with ace pro? Some reviews said they paired airpods which all don't use.
@@JordanHetrick thanks for the detailed answer! It's hard to choose but I think I will go for ace pro! Do you know if the random Standart accessories kits which we can find on Ali express fits with ace pro ?
Hi, regarding the poles and floating handles; the handle at 21:33 (i guess it's the standard Insta360 Floating Handle), does not float it? Also, the pole at 23:37, is the Max Grip? Does it fare well in sea water? (seen some review that it gets stuck and doesn't open/close) I guess this doesn't float.
Can someone explain what to do ,my ace pro stops recording in 30 seconds or 1 min ,I have vlog limitless still the card seems to be a problem stops videos in 1 minute or under I cannot seem to film more minutes
Hi John, The Ace Pro is not a 360 camera so it doesn't have the invisible selfie stick effect. There is a selfie stick removal tool in the Insta360 App, but since it's digitally removing the selfie stick, it doesn't work as well as filming with a 360 camera.
Yes, it's definitely stepping up the action cam level! I'm loving the larger sensor and 48MP photos. Tons of great new features that people have often asked me about are included in this camera. Thanks for the comment!
wish you'd mentioned about downloading the insta360 app while we were waiting for our battery to charge. would have saved some time and not caused us to have to turn off and restart the camera. i know you can't redo the video (LOL) but just saying it helps to think about what to do to maximize efficiency. Looking forward to trying out my new toy, but a little concerned the thing is already hot and i didn't even shoot/record anything. in a 67-degree F room, and all i did was have it on for this video. First time used after unboxing and charging.
Hi Jordan, can you help, please? I think I have just broken the USB-C/ SD card door before I even got to use the camera. I have tried every which way to re-attach it. It seems to have a sliding clip that might hold it in place but I cannot get it to work. Any ideas? Thanks
Hi, Hopefully, it didn't break on you and just came off. It's a little tricky to reattach the door if you haven't done it before. There's a little c-clasp at the top of the door. That fits onto the metal bar that you can see on the camera. Put your pointer finger on top of the door and your thumb below. Use your thumb to keep the bottom part extended and slide it back onto that clasp. I hope that works for you!
Great question! After that date, you will still be able to make 3 AI Warp videos per day for free. If you want to make more than that, you will have to sign up for a premium plan.
