I'm 2 months in with my Ace Pro, still loving it, with the consistent firmware upgrades, this camera just keeps getting better. My DJI A4 has been sitting on my shelf since I got the Ace Pro, it's just a good overall performer and good footage right out of the camera without having to do lots if any post. Great review!

Surperb, I have been running 2x GoPro 10 Blacks, 70/30 is spot on with my experience, 70% of the time it turns on and off when you want them to. 30% of the time = no footage, pull over, battery out we all know the drill. #3 action camera has just been ordered. Insta 360 Ace Pro.

What is really awesome is if you full screen the twin camera view, you can by using a cross eyed view, see it all in 3D. Start off with your finger half way between your eyes and the screen looking at the top of your finger, then move your gaze to the middle image that appears as you do that. 3D. The bike riding in 3D was the best.

I love the music Brother, and the review was effin Mint, unfortunately I listened to it as a podcast and missed all the Mint footage, the one inch sensor is a desirable lenses for the toolkit and I have no doubts it came up trumps. Much love and respect, you rock rock my world podcast style 😅😂😅

The new Insta360 is a great camera, was def times where both showed better image quality, but the night mode was impressive and handy to have a zoom with no real loss of quality. The mic adaptor is a vast improvement over the GoPro. Am not planning on upgrading to it from my Hero 10 as it still works fine and I hardly ever ride at night or record in the dark, but it does look worth the switch for those needing a new camera. Running as a helmet cam, the screen controls are not accessible how I run a camera, so need it all to be off the external buttons. I hope it works for you long term, especially if you get a second one, yeah a rearwards 3.5mm would be nice. I guess GoPro got something right with the removable lens, they stopped it for a while, am glad they went back to it.

All these companies need to start putting 3.5mm mic jacks in their cameras aye man, how hard could it be! I reckon a fair percentage of users would want it. I used the Ace Pro out on a wet ride yesterday and it performed beautifully, I did whip the mic adapter out and put the waterproof cover back on once the rain started really coming down, which made the audio after that point go to shit of course but other than that so far I've been 100% happy with this thing ❤ Cheers Pete

Thanks for the review, Josh. Shame they couldn’t improve on the GoPro’s audio quality but really, i’m with you, GoPro’s are too unreliable and the only reason why I’ve stuck with them is the lack of competition. I’ve just finished a series full of wasted footage with no audio. Frustrating.

Oh THIS is the Insta360 you were talking about getting, awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing your long-term experience with it. There are some neat features over the GoPro (quick charging, low light mode) that hopefully GoPro steals for their next iteration.

Even if GoPro do steal some of these features, I doubt they will ever be able to make a 100% reliable camera 😅🙈 I'm loving the Ace pro more the more I use it 👌

@@MVDBR True, I just got mine back on warranty, the back screen started flickering pretty badly. Of course leaving it plugged into the charger for 4 weeks probably didn't help!

Excellent rundown on the Ace Pro Josh. 👍 Thank you for letting us know that the mic adapter works with the Purple Panda mic. For some reason, I’ve never watched a review of a insta360 product tell us anything about how they are recording audio in their helmet.

Yeah, should work with any mic really. Plus you can adjust the mic gain in the camera settings which would be a handy feature for some mics 🤘 Cheers mate

Good review Josh, very timely too, I was nervously thinking of pulling the trigger on a new go pro to replace the aging 7 & 8 for this year's Europe trip. I think you've swayed me to check out the 360 Ace Pro No mention of it but is the camera still waterproof-ish with the mic adapter plugged in?

G'day Greg, definitely not waterPROOF in any capacity, and I haven't been in a position to test it yet but I'm hoping it's at least a bit more splash proof than my GoPro is with the media mod with power and mic connected. That thing gives up the ghost at the mere thought of any water touching it 🥴 Thanks for the comment mate

When gopros were still a wrist mounted still camera, I had an Oregon scientific 2K that had issues. 😂 The only issue I've had with any of my gopros (and Ive had nearly all of them minus the 6 8 and 11) since the first digital one they made is the hero 9 locking up with the remote. And Ive flooded about 5 housings in heavy reef waves. I still have a 7 thats on its 4th battery that gets used a few times a week for surf. 50fps vs 60fps with 50/50Hz is PAL vs NTSC. 60fps NTSC is actually 60 half frames of every 2nd line.

It astonishes me when people say they have no issues with GoPros... I call bullshit 😅 I've had problems with all of them since the 7, and yeah I've tried all manner of SD cards and recommended tricks to no avail. Be happy to wave goodbye to the shit once again 🙌

@@MVDBR maybe its the running no battery with a bank plugged in. Or maybe the media mod. I do all day rides with my 12 in horizon lock with the lens mod 2.0, a battety bank plugged in with the battery still in it and the remote controlling it with the mic adapter not the mod. Never locks up never overheats and never misses anything. I have a 1TB sandisk sd card and sometimes leave it running accidentally for whole days and no issues. Maybe its the heat and humidity of QLD that's the issue or the media mod.

@@TRAVERSE_ADV it's not the power bank scenario, I initially started doing that to improve the reliability (and it has quite a bit). The media mod, highly likely, although the mic adapter was just as bad. But like, when I plugged this fucker in to charge, there was no media mod or anything and it jammed up. Yeah let's go with the humidity 😁Thankfully the Insta360 seems to be able to handle it lol

Something seems to be off with the focus though. At 23.50min for example, you can cleary make out your individual hairs on the Gopro footage. The Ace on the other hand looks heaps mushy. Why is that?

Yeah well spotted, the Insta does have a slightly further focus distance than the GoPro, I think they say 40cm. For a predominantly action camera I don't think this is a big deal, and for vlogging I just have to remember to hold it a bit further away but in reality it's probably a positive thing that my mug is out of focus a bit 😅😅

Nah for me the winner is the DJI Active4 with the new Mic 2. Flawless Bluetooth mic to a larger sensor like the Ace pro. No cables, stays fully sealed and no, not sponsored lol

Yeah you know what I was that poxed with the Action 3 video and audio quality that it put me off DJI. I've not used the 4, obviously they've upped their game but the flip up screen and bitchin low light stabe clinches it for the Insta360 for me 🍻 But as I always say, whatever works for ya 🤘🤘

When you stop at 17:22, the Insta360 image is very blurry, but the Gopro looks clearer and better. I have an Insta360 Acepro, this bothers me a lot, I also use Osmo Action4, this problem only exists in Insta 360. We have no choice but to pray that they solve this: (

They both look pretty ordinary to me when paused, with that RU-vid compression 🤮 The raw footage looks ok but maybe a higher bitrate in camera would be better

After all, not everyone will watch it on their television, they will upload it to such platforms and they will see this image when they upload it constantly. I think they need to find a solution to this. I am an insta360 acepro user and the focal length and image clarity are what I complain about the most... unfortunately.@@MVDBR

I was so going to buy the Ace pro until I found out the lens issue, because in two months of running the Hero12 I’ve broken 3 lens covers… and my 12 has never glitched even in 38deg heat , but I only use 1080/60 because most tv’s are only 1080p

Jebuz I thought I was rough on the gear 😬 Yeah bit of an odd choice to have a non replaceable lens cover on an action cam, but I'll see how I go with my tempered glass stick-on jobbies, most of the damage I've had in the past is small scratches and chips. I generally record in 1080 as well and just upscale to 4K for the 'tube, but shhh you never heard that

That's true, but Insta360 will repair the lens for free if you break them, which makes it become a minor issue for me

I had a bad experience in support with a insta 360 one RS, i had to activate paypal support, and they wait for the last day to make a refund, they stall the max trying to make me quit, they even told me they lost my support emails... with gopro, one burn a chip inside and they trade for a new one fast, so i don't know if i will buy another insta again.

Just watch the new camera review it may be reliable but the stablistion with the bobbing started to give me DIMS "motion sickness" like sum games "Doom" not a prob with DJI or Gopro anyone else or me just imagine. DIMS (Doom induced motion sickness), describing it like this: It's what happens when your eyes register movement and your inner ear (responsible for balance) doesn't. Motion sickness is heavily influenced by the field of view of the game's camera. So, the larger the field of view, the more people will feel motion sick. Victims of this form of motion sickness can suffer from clammy skin, sweating, dizziness, headache, and nausea.

Maybe it was the 2 side by side causing that, because there's not THAT much difference in the stabilisation, and bugger all difference in the field of view 🤷‍♂
