I'm sure they will, most 360 cameras on day one have issues and the EVO doesn't have many. Plus I would say it's a VR180 camera first and that has zero stitching issues.
I wouldn't say the Vuze stitching is great by any means, it's basically a feather and at least the Evo has optical flow. Plus we can be confident Insta360 will update the software often and it'll improve... We're still waiting for manual controls of any sort on the Vuze. Check my hour long review video for more comparison and thoughts from using them both. 😉👍
Thanks for the awesome comparison! Gosh, Evo 180 stabilization is so much better than XR... Guess Vuze really need to improve their software to up their game!
Yeah the Vuze is nice but the software is seriously lacking and all they can say is they're a small team and working on it. I've had it since launch in December and had fun with it but the Evo replaces it for most jobs now.
HELLO, I HAVE A 360 VIRB CAMERA FROM GARMIN, THAT RECORDS AT A RESOLUTION OF 5.7K. CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT SOFTWARE DO YOU USE TO UPLOAD YOUR VIDEOS IN 5.7K TO RU-vid? I ASK YOU BECAUSE I HAVE TRIED TO UPLOAD VIDEOS TO 5.7K FROM MY CAMERA (RENDERED IN 5.7K) BUT RU-vid ONLY MARKS AS MAXIMUM 4K QUALITY, AND I'M WANTING WHY RU-vid DOES NOT RECORD IT ... ANY GUIDANCE WILL BE VERY HELPFUL THANK YOU! !
I use Adobe Premiere. However it can take a long time for 5.7k video to show up on RU-vid, plus not all devices will give you that option, best to try and view via a PC.
Im left a little unsure whether to buy the evo now or wait until the stitching is better on a vr camera. Having said that isnt it unrealistic for any vr camera to double up to 360 as turning cameras back to back will always be chunky ? Nice objective video as always. Appreciate seeing tests in the cloudy dull weather UK👍
For a VR180 camera it's hands down the best option right now. The 360 to me is a bonus and I'm sure the stitching will get better with updates (360 cameras are always crap on launch).
Thanks and maybe. It seems the lenses have a pretty big overlap (just look at the VR180 stabilisation, that is some crazy extra footage they must have available). It's day one firmware and software so I'm sure it'll get better. Will it be as good as the slimmer One X? May be not, but the Evo is more for VR180 with the bonus of some 360. 😁👍
@@RaMarcus let's hope they can figure something out for stitching ! For 360 I already have the Xiaomi Mijia for pictures but have tried the One and One X for video and they're a lot better thanks to the great stabilization. When skiing the stitch line was quite visible on the One X so I hate to think what it would be like on the EVO. As for 3D, I still use my Panasonic 3D1 from time to time but clearly it's not 180 or stabilized and it's a hassle to view pics on the Oculus GO.
Yeah the VR180 on the Evo is easy and fun to watch on the Go. You can stitch and drop it straight onto the Go to watch the full 5.7k, or use the Insta360 VR app which means you can view and download it straight off the csmara, very cool.
@@RaMarcus Good to know. I suppose uploading to FB and then viewing throught the Oculus Gallery would work too. It's too bad there's no way to connect to Google Photos from the Oculus Gallery (or any other app I've seen) and using the browser+slideshow mode does not give great results.
I'm very new to 360 video so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question... But, can you output 2D 180° FoV VR with the One X? ie. I'm not entirely bothered about having 3D, but 180° VR would be nice, and the One X seems to be the better option. (Unless there's been recent updates to fix the stitching on the EVO, which would make it the better option, in that case?)
Thanks for the great review! I have a little question, As for now i've been using for 360 videos my old LG 360 cam (which records only 2k) and i thought it's time to upgrade, i was thinking about the Insta 360 one X but then i saw the Evo which has a benefit of the 3D option. i want to know if they are identical in terms of 360 video quality? i noticed in some videos on RU-vid that the stitch image of Evo is not as good as in the one X, is it right? thanks
The quality is the same. They've recently updated the IOS app which improves the 360 stitch line massively (in the last few days) and we're just waiting for it on Android and the Desktop software now. I've yet to test it myself but it's meant to be on par with the One X now. The VR180 is the real seller here, if you have a VR headset then the camera is a must buy. 👍 There is a sale on Insta360 cameras on Monday/Tuesday and you can get this for 20%. Feel free to use my link if you do grab on evo.ramarcus.com 😁
@@RaMarcus thank you so much! i do have a VR headset, so from your point of view i understand the Eva has an advantage on the One X, i'm wondering, do you know if the Evo has a waterproof case (for action sport)?
@@RaMarcus thank you! do you know if the Android app has also been updated? can you make a 360 sample video with the new update of the Evo? all the 360 videos i find on youtube of the Evo are from March...
No waterproof case, although it's at a size that a GoPro bubble/half bubble would likely fit 🤔 And only IOS app has had the stitching update so far, it is much better and I hardly see any errors. Android and desktop updates are promised soon. 🤞
Can you please let me know if we can charge insta360 evo while using it with the help of micro USB cable with power bank ? And how to charge it, do we need to charge battery separately and the last query is do we get extra battery in the package?
Yes you can use it while plugged into a powerbank. Powers straight up from dead if needed when plugged in. The Evos battery is built in and cannot be swapped, you charge it via plugging the USB cable in. All of this is covered in the full review video on my channel.
@@RaMarcus thanks for the prompt reply and teaching me a lesson, being a youtuber I missed to reply some of my viewer's comments due to tons of queries. But today I got prompt reply and it feels great, thanks once again, today I added one more ideal like u in my motivational people list.
I use this and it fits perfectly. Premium Camera Hard Case for Compact Cameras- Size: S 2.0 for Canon Ixus 175 185 190 - PowerShot S120 SX620 - Sony DSC W810 WX220 WX350 etc www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B011UT3CYA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Qkq3Cb1W55NMM
In both of my videos for this camera so far I've added source files to the description, feel free to download and test them out yourself. The original review has a load in low light from the cathedral 😉👍
RaMarcus Yes, downloading already, thank you for this samples. You are almost the one who make the samples to download. I recommend you in other posts.:)
Personally the Evo as it's two cameras in one, the VR180 is awesome. But if you solely want to do 360 then the stitching in 360 is currently better on the One X.
disappointed by 360 stitching lower quality of the evo vs one x, i hope they could make a cleverer double hinge instead of a single hinge that would not penalize 360 that much - bad design
I think it'll get better over time. Insta360 are known for regular updates and most 360 cameras have issues and features missing when they first release these days. I'm still loving it for VR180 though. 👍
I've seen some people get some good stitching by calibrating so I'll have to give it a go and compare. It only has to get a little better as it's decent, just not great. But it's a none issue in VR180 mode and that's this cameras main use for sure.
Thanks mate, I'll always call it as it is. I'm going to try and vlog with the EVO strapped to me as I think that stabilisation should make that possible and not vomit inducing in VR. We'll see. 😉
