my two cents. these two are two different animals. Insta360 one X2 is for those who want less work shooting without worrying about camera angles, and get the amazing footage out, those who move a lot like riding, skateboarding, and so on, and those who love posting 360 Videos. Osmo Pocket 2 is for vloggers who do not need 360 but a camera that has tons of nice features and to focus on subjects that are closer to get them stand out with blurred background, Not a case in Insta360 One X2 with fixed focus only. But If you can have both of them, you will have plenty of choices to do amazing videos using both.
I sympathize with your view. But that problem can be lessened if in the post-production you zoom in the scene and the picture would look almost normal - admitted with some loss of resolution. However one thing which nothing replaces 360 is that you can actually "re-live" your journey in virtual reality in the post-production. I used it on a cycling ride of mine, and only find out after I viewed the 360 video at home that a friend of mine, who was riding behind me, had a mild fall at a slope but he did not sound out a thing at the time because he felt embarrassed. It was so hilarious.
Again a very well done review and presentation of the capability of both devices. Both have their pros and cons, but I am really impressed by the 360° ability of the Insta360. You seem to really like that device, which is clearly visible :)
The introduction is as perfect as it can be. Can someone more than me imagine that this woman just introudoced her self as "Hi I'm Young". In another words, she can never complain to be an old person. I laughed so hard I worked out my abs for a whole week.
Thank a lot, YOUNG.... girl, for this comparison. Booth are great! but I think Pocket 2 is sufficient for vlogging! Another point, did you tested the better battery capacity?
I just got the 360one x2. I used to have the original pocket but found I wasn’t using it enough because I was afraid of damaging the fragile gimbal and because it wasn’t waterproof. So I’m giving up some picture quality for more versatility
Generally agree with you and thanks for the nice sharing. For me, pocket2 is more capable to take smooth cinematic shot (but it require a bit more experiences for gimbal move) and probably the best "action camera" for sound recording thanks to it's perfect wireless mic. For One X2, undoubtedly the best 360 camera which you can make a lots of fun and dramatic video easily, it's much more convenience for pocket2 indeed. But finally I picked pocket2 over onex2 , since I want a camera to record what my eyes field vision can actually reached, lol, 360 camera can even capture what my eyes cannot see, although its very great , just not my purpose.
I have the Pocket 2 and the Insta360 One (original model). As others have said, they are different tools for different tasks. In February I spent a few very precious days with my grown-up kids and my grandchildren which won't happen again for a long time due to the virus - I used the One X a lot to capture the family occasions, and it was great as I didn't have to spend time looking through a viewfinder - I could be in the moment with the family while the camera just sucked it all up. Now I can put on my Quest 2 headset to view the video in 360 VR and I'm right there again. Turning to the Pocket 2, that has fantastic sound options and it can not only capture great video, but also a stereo soundtrack that is built up from four mics all around the device, so that too gives the feeling of "being there" when you play back the footage. What fantastic devices we have to play with, and choose between, these days!!
Nice video. Yes Ms. Young you make a good point.... If you have a Iphone 12 pro max or the Samsung Note Ultra , you don't really need the DJI pocket 2 .... And regarding the Insta 360 One R X2 , you can do so many things with it .Its more versatile . I just wish the quality of video was as good as the pocket 2 . So i' am glad I bought the 360 X2. Also it would be fun to compare the pocket 2 vs the Iphone 12 pro max.
already have a full size gimbal and the dji osmo (super buggy app and disappointed in the osmo mobile line. i just ordered the insta360 one inch and 360 added to it. i have an old gopro which is a pos to me and a samsung 360 which is also a pos. i’m excited for the insta360 tho but the pocket 2 and the wireless mic setup sounds really nice
1:00 What beautiful scenery! Oh, and the trees and leaves in the background look nice too 😊 The wireless mic on the Pocket 2 sounds better in this video than your previous video for some reason. Nice comparison although they are not meant to compete with each other.. I think you did state that..
Reasons why I’d get what you called a “Toy” I already have a Sony a6400 and a6600 with a Zv-1 vlog camera. Now I need something with some fun! Something different for B roll footage
LOL! My phone and a steady hand can do almost everything the pocket can do. You obviously have no idea what kind of shots a 360 cam can do. Theres a reason why GoPro now has a 360 cam.
@@semajgnik your phone can't do low light video better than the pocket 2 and nothing beats a mechanical gimbal. you can alway use a drone to 360 in the air. it's much better than on the ground.
@@johnnywong1018 You really don't know what 360 cams are being used for. I've been using it for snowboarding for the last 3 years. 360 cams are basically replacing action cams. It never misses a shot, it has built in stabilization and it makes it look like someone is following you very closely when you're actually just filming yourself. Once these cams are able to do 8K 60 fps, action cams like the regular gopro and the osmo pocket will be obsolete. Go search some action cam videos using 360 cams on youtube.
Insta 360 one X2 wins because of the replaceable battery, if I had a dollar for everytime the osmo pocket ran out of battery I'd have enough to buy the Insta 360 one X2
Both are great but if I had to bring only one with me to have the maximum flexibility, I would go with insta360. Now it also has an external mic adapter.
Great video! I was looking for vid comparisons between these 2 for about 2 weeks now. FINALLY found a good one thank you! I currently am awaiting for my OneX2 to be shipped! I also do plan on getting the Pocket 2, I found out about the pocket 2 first. Then a friend told me about the 360.
Another great review .. not too "wordy" ... straight and to the point! Your videos are very much appreciated! Thank you, Young! Randy (Los Angeles, Calif.)
I have a Mavic Air 2 leaning on Pocket 2 for now. We will use it for holiday and fun videos + work videos. I do love the Insta 360 X2 but it's not available yet for consumer delivery (until Dec 2019). I am heading out of town in a few weeks so I am going try that next year (or wait for the next version). I will definitely add Insta360 X2 to my equipment/tool kit next time. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Im buying for environment landscape & interior design works, so I prefer camera with gimbal that more mechanical movement with Pocket 2 gimbal But if you guys go for fun travel & social media purpose, I think insta360 x2 is a good choice with unique features
Nice comparison. They complement each other. I will say that 360° is fun but ask yourself if you want that style of videos and photos. I have found that I am using my 360 camera more for photos than videos.
Pocket 2 has better image quality and sound, and true stabilization. One X2 captures all 360 degree view around you at one time. But, can you play both at the same time? Have fun
I agree. I will be getting the new INSTA3601X(I have the old one), and the DJI I want also now. I think they are both awesome. Especially the INSTA360...didn't know the bullet string comes built in? I have the old handle bullet...Anyhow, awesome coverage and highlights! You're so awesome.
@@169494 we will wondering together until she answers the questions haha. I hope pocket 2 not easily get hot because i plan to buy this but i’m confused after i read some comment haha.
Wow there are some COOL features of the INSTA360, although along with the "invisible selfie stick" mode, there should also be an "invisible SHADOW selfie stick" mode🤣😆 I kept seeing the SELFIE stick in the SHADOW😄
Hi, I love both camera's ahaha I don't know what to buy! I am just a small vlogger though, so I think I will go for the one that a little cheaper which I might afford.ehehe But thank you so much for this vlog! It helps me a lot. By the way, I am new fan of your channel! I will keep in touch! Thank you
i m looking forward to your video on shooting both cameras at night. both previous version of the cameras have poor quality at night shooting (both pictures and videos)
Hi, I found out that if you take a panoramic shot on a smart phone, and post it on Facebook, it actually appears as a 360° photo. Just saved myself a lot of money!
Thanks for the comparison of video quality and functionality. These offer different options of great action cameras. For those with the budget, both are great to have. Thank you and greetings from Malaysia.
I dont see the quality change as I render in 4k. I use a very old software but works fine :) i dont think i am in position to recommend a software since i use the one i purchased in 2016 or 2017...🤣😅
You forgot to mention when these cameras came out & the pricing. I will probably wait until black friday before I decide. I like the crispy 4K on pocket but the x2 also seems fun 🤙
I already have the pocket 2. the Insta360 one x2 i will bought anyway because it covers very different areas of application. maybe you could make a video about the different combos of Insta and recommend good accessories.
@Young360 Thank you for the video. Can you recommend another brand which offer the same type of camera like a dji pocket 2 with integrated gimbal but is way better than the DJI pocket 2? To me the DJI pocket 2 is average at best and i have been looking for something better /.
Hi Young, great video as usual. I will buy Pocket2, don’t really need the 360. Can you pls tell me the wireless mic. , can i connect it with any device? Like iphone ? Or any advice that you can give me please. I am looking for a mic. For my iphone 11, the wind noise reduction on the iphone is not great.
Two different beasts. Both very cool. I would get both but I think I’d start with insta 360 1x2. Thanks for the fun comparison! You really have fun all by yourself! Are you as “natural” when there’s people around? I have tried myself but it’s not easy lol. I don’t know why I should care about the other people! Haha
You like both because you don't have to buy them ,bit if you had to spend your money which one would you pick? Me if I didn't have a GoPro I would get the DJI but since I do I'll get the instant 360 but only when they drop that hefty price.
I watched your Zhiyun Smooth Q4 review and purchased it but I don't find smooth in handling that device, hope to stop using it, and have to go for this pocket 2 como soon. Thanks for this review
...great and thoughtful review as usual! Much love from Nashville Tennessee usa... The multi effect on the insta 360x2 reminds me of something Karen Cheng posted on Instagram...
I received my onex 2 last Friday and that next Saturday I unscrewed the selfie stick from the camera and the threading core was stuck in the camera. Pliers or nothing would work(I even had a mechanic friend help) so I had to send it back to insta360 still waiting to see what they say.
The fact that DJI Forces you to register and sign up with them to able to use the Pocket 2 and the App and give them all information of you which they will sell and Market is a Deal Breaker and also the Misrepresentation of their Product is another one they say it has 64MP resolution that is a LIE it Has 16MP Real Resolution so No Thank you DJI Keep your Camera i won't buy it same as your Drones you are to Invasive in our Privacy Great Video Thank you
I am thinking of getting an Insta360 since I like getting fun shots or mounting a camera on my dog and have no problem editing key frames in post. I wanted to ask about the app functions for the Insta360 series, specifically for IOS devices since I do all my editing on my IPad Pro and usually on LumaFusion. How is the Insta360studio in terms of key frames. I don’t plan on using the auto track functions unless I’m specifically trying to track a specific target but I like to mount my Osmo Pocket 2 on a long selfie stick and get sweeping droneish shots which will work better with a 360 camera since I am not reliant on targeting a subject while shooting like I am currently doing with my Osmo Pocket 2. My overall plan was to shoot these shots with the Insta360, edit the specific Key Frames per shot with the 360 app and then export to LumaFusion to build my overall video. - Any thoughts? - Does anyone think the 360 app will not be able to set key frames the way I am intending? - On the thought of Lumafusion, does anyone know if that app will edit 360 footage? I don’t think so but I thought I’d ask.
For me the Pocket 2 is the best use case cause 360 all the time, everytime isn't something i'd like. And sure you can sort of use the 360 degree FOV as a "crop/select your framing later" but if you do that for all your footage; you have a -lot- of time spent post-processing choosing/selecting moments. Having said that ; that bullet-time effect BLEW ME AWAY. wow ! I've never seen anything like that. So i would say the X2 would be great to get some different effect-shots. But then you say that the quality doesn't match up with other higher quality files .. :-( oh well.
