@@dave_mariano I have to disagree... They are both small portable video cameras. The way the camera capture video is very different but the end goal isn't.
I was about to purchase a pocket 2 but realized that the quality is just above the quality of a phone whereas the one x2 delivers a unique experience that a phone can't replicate. This revelation led me to buying the one x2 despite the pocket 2 having better quality. I also plan on using this camera as an action camera as well so the stabilization with the one x2 works out well for me!
They are both great choices but I tend to use the Insta360 more while skiing. The stabilization is great and the fact I can focus on skiing is awesome! Hope you have fun at Mont Tremblant!
Good comparison 👍I think the DJI Pocket 2 is cool but for me personally I'd really go for the Insta360. Love wide angle camera and a 360 view is definitely a no brainer.
Thanks! Yes, I agree! The DJI Pocket 2 is really for a niche market (because smartphones are so good these days) but the Insta360 really separates itself from the competition.
Pear or Orange ? The both cameras are equally good and bad because they are totally different and they are made for different purposes. Insta 360 is amazing ACTION camera. Definitely one of the best on the market and if you planning to shoot your action activities you definitely can't go wrong picking Insta 360. Pocket 2 from other side is THE BEST pocket size vlogging/walking camera on the market. But It's NOT action camera. So that VS. is kind of unfair to the P2. My personal opinion: If I need an action camera, that Insta360 will be probably my first choice. But I personally don't need action camera and that's way I bought the Pocket 2 👍 and til that moment I am extremely happy 🤘😁🤘 And now....maybe because of the release of Pocket 3 the prices of P2 + some of the accessories are sinking slightly down. I bought my brand new P2 + ND PL PGYTECH - 8,16,32 and 64 for total 353€ So my personal opinion: First you need to decide what exactly you are going to do and for what exactly you need to buy a camera. And after that, choose 😉
I totally agree with you! My point was to declare if one is better than the other but simply highlight where one does better than the other so people can choose what is best for them. I think it's a huge problem these days where people don't take time to define why they need a certain piece of tech before buying it
motion blur is about the shutter speed. ND filter is need for pocket2 to increas the shutter speed. P.S. the blur of X2 is software effect, not "motion blur".
Yes, absolutely! I have a video that goes on depth about motion blur and it's relationship with shutter speed: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cwFkkuZ9IM4.html. I also know that it's a software effect (it doesn't look like real motion blur at all!) but Insta360 calls it motion blur so I didn't want to complicate this video (most people are already so mixed up with what is motion blur).
No, but I usually have something to wipe down the camera every few minutes to keep it dry. I already dropped it in water (I was really quick to catch it) and it's still working fine so light snow shouldn't be a problem!
@@loicba excellent great to know, and thanks for the response! My newest vid was shot with anamorphic lens for osmo, I watched your tutorial, thanks dude 👍 superb content
Nice comparison! One thing to consider, have you tried ND filters with manual settings for Time-lapse or Hyperlapse to achieve an optical motion blur with the Pocket?
Great to be able to find content in English but with Spanish subtitles and I would like to know how you place them 😉. I have some money saved and I also usually record trips, I was deciding whether to eat a normal camera like the canon g7x mark iii, but I saw the insta 360 x2 and it seems to me that it is too versatile for vlogs even if I am not going to use it much in sports extreme, at most when I ride my motorcycle. Do you think it is very crazy to buy the insta360 and not the g7x mark iii?
Happy the subtitles where useful! I usually have to manually fix the English version of their subtitles (they are auto-generated but miss all punctuation...) and then I have an option to translate the content to another language. I just use Google Translate because I don't speak most of them (tho I did take Spanish classes in high school). I would say that the Insta360 is really great for any type of unique shots but not the best for vlogging. You can definitely do it but the fact that you have to export each video afterwards make the process a little bit painful.
Thanks for the continued support! 😍I personally will be using during my trips, especially when I not sure what I want to film or just want to enjoy the moment and not think about "getting the shot" too much. It probably won't be my only camera because it's very long to reframe all the footage afterwards but it's a great camera to always have in my bag. If it's the best camera for your travels, really depend on your process!

Nice comparison; really enjoying your videos. Pocket 2 definitely had better sound, and actually did fairly good wind blocking. I think stabilization on both looked good. The Insta360 view is certainly unique, plus being able to select a view in editing could be a plus. Am not a big fan of fisheye type distortion in the Insta360 even in selected views (ie not full 360 degree view) but everything is a tradoff and waterproofing takes priority in some situations. Actually, I just got a DJI Action because it is waterproof and because I have been having such fun with the Pocket 2. What's really fun is all the choices we have now. 🙃
Thanks! Yes, the sound is much better and the wireless microphone is so useful! When I started editing this video I was trying to avoid having very distorted images but it’s not the goal of this camera so I decided to embrace it and concentrate on getting more unique shots instead. I not only dropped the DJI Pocket 2 in the water, but also my camera bag last summer... So for me waterproofing is a huge plus! I looked into buying the DJI Action or the GoPro Hero 9 but wasn’t sure I would use them enough.
@@loicba Actually editing it the way you did gave us a better idea of the differences and similarities. No one camera does it all, so it's helpful to have different ones for different purposes. I like my Fuji XT4, Fuji X100V, DJI Pocket2 and now DJI Action cam, but they each serve different purposes, with each one being a blast to use.
@@sunnykifashionfamily2750 Since no one camera does everything, what it really comes down to is the "better" camera is the one which best suits your needs AND the one you most enjoy using...some cameras get the job done, while others make you smile just using them. There is a lot of personal preference in in the choice. Isn't that oh so helpful? True, though. 🙃
Hi Loic, I hope you are doing good. Just wanted to ask, I would like to have pixel 2 as my secondary device. So with android 11, does it have improved the camera quality? Tq
It’s a good question. What is weird with the old Pixel phones is that the colors are not the same at all (they are very desaturated). I don’t think that Android 11 changes anything about that because it’s the Google Camera app that influences the image results, not the operating system. Maybe a new version of GCam or Google Camera PX (un-official versions of the app) could help get the new look on the old devices.
Hahaha, I don't blame you because I don't have the typical "quebecois" accent so it's hard to pin point where I come from 😉 Happy to see a fellow canadian in my subscribers!
Very true, not typical at all but still sounds French. In another video by a cottage I assumed it was in the Alps even though it really should have been obviously Canadian. In this video when you’re along water in the city near the end, is that Parc LaFontaine in Montréal?
@@AndrewVanBeekOttawa It weird because french people say it’s not french either 🤔 It’s Parc Westmount, tho when I start biking again it could definitely be Parc Lafontaine.
@@loicba ah ha, I haven’t been in that park but it looks very similar. My mother in law lives near Parc LaFontaine so I’m very familiar with it. Of course I haven’t been there since Covid started. Now back to trying to decide what camera to get...
Thank you very much for your videos. One question, what is the minimum phone configuration compatible with Insta360 One X2 and its app? I have OPPO Reno 4 Pro , Snapdragon 720, RAM 8 GB.
Most of the time I use a real tripod that I also use for my DSLR: kit.co/loic.bellemare.alford/youtube-gear/1942186-veo-2-265cb-carbon-t but I also have a small Jobi tripod and love the tiny tripod included in the creator combo kit: geni.us/dji-pocket-2-combo
As a motorcycle owner I find One X2 an attractive option, as you can attach the camera on the bike and then in post you can decide which angle shot is the most interesting one. From the other hand I like the simplicity of the Pocket 2, and although you can do most things with your mobile phone these days, it is not exactly the same thing, especially if you want/need to use a gimbal. I will probably go for the One X2 in the near future but I would like to get the Pocket 2 in some point as well :-)
If you plan on using it with your motorcycle, don’t buy the DJI Pocket 2! It has a weird problem where the gimbal has a hard time (like 100% of the time) to keep the horizon levelled when moving fast 😢 Apart from that, it’s a great camera!
Not sure to understand your question? You don't have any options for audio other than applying a filter to focus on the voice or the action. All the audio then get get's mixed down to a stereo track.
Of course the pocket 2 has a better image... 100mb/per second of 4K to cover around a quarter of the field of view around .. if you add the top and bottom the 360 has to cover 5-6 times as much field of view with nonowhere near 500-600 mbits per second.
Think on a six sided die 🎲 If you have the same data rate to cover one side your image is better than having the same data rate to conver all six .. both cams run 100 Mb/s
I understand the math behind this (I work full time as an engineer). It wasn't the point of this video, it's meant to be fun and to highlight that both have strengths and weaknesses. If I want good image quality, I use the DJI Pocket, if I want a 360 image or just a fun camera to use, I go for the Insta360.
It's not really something I can answer because it depends on the shooting mode, the resolution, temperature, etc. I would say I get around 30min to 1h for the Pocket 2 and the 45min to 2h for the Insta360
Short answer: no. It's not waterproof and the gimbal has clear gaps. What you don't see is is that I would wipe of the snow every few minutes to keep it dry.
Yes, it's not great quality but for RU-vid videos it's great to capture a different perspective. 78% of my subscribers watch the video on their phone so most off them won't see much of a difference. Now, would I use those modes for a cinematic short, definitely not...
I wouldn't buy only an Insta360 but I definitely think it's one of the best action sport camera out there. You are not buying it for the video quality, you buy it because it allows to just point the camera pretty much anywhere and you know you are getting the shots.
