Appreciate this comparison video. I wonder if the X3 single lens will rival the Action 2 even better at their "4K' resolution options. Granted I don't believe the 4K they advertised is true 4K
no! i have the action 2 cam and filming with it since first day it came out. i even bought a second A2. i just got the X3 days ago and oh boy am i disappointed with the single lens quality. it looks unusable in ANY resolution. the X3 is a 360 cam and it does that good so far even its not blowing me away with quality. but the A2 will beat the X3 under any circumstances
@@cloudpandarism2627 In these samples, in the lower light section, the Action 2 footage is ruined by artifacts from the stabilisation. The X3 isn't perfect in that situation, but it's clearly better than the Action 2. In good light I'd say it comes down to personal preference. As for 4K -- I've not tested that difference yet.
Hi Peter, are you happy with the Insta360 X3. Im not impressed with the image quality on the test I seen so far. But I really want a 360 camera, but im not sure about it. And yes you got a new subscriber from Norway.
Welcome! The next option is the Insta360 model with the one inch sensors which is quite a bit more expensive. Even so, consumer 360 cameras can't match the quality of say a GoPro - or the Pocket 2 - due to the need to spread their pixels across the whole 360 degrees, then digitally zoom in on a portion later. But they enable shots you can't get with any other class of camera. And in the context of tourism or family events, you can enjoy the experience without having to have your eye clamped to a viewfinder. Another consideration is that the Pocket 3 may be released in a few weeks. Not a 360 camera probably but another likely demand on your finances! Am I happy with it? Yes, it's great to use (so long as you take great care of the exposed lenses) and it's significantly better than the original One X which I've had for a few years. Just be aware of its limitations and use it for tasks for which it is the appropriate tool - it's not a replacement for anything, it's a thing in itself.
The Action 2 would probably be my overall choice for video quality - but it can't get the shots that a 360 camera can. So it kind of depends on the planned tasks.
i just got the X3 some days ago and the single lens mode is the biggest joke i ever saw in an action cam. terrible. so disappointed with the overall video quality so far. every old 1080p camera blows this single lens mode out of the water. i still like the cam for its 360 mode and for that its good enough. but i have a DJI action 2 and that is single lens quality i expected from the X3 cam as well. boy was i wrong...🤣
But once you get into indoor light, the Action 2 is close to useless due to the EIS artifacts. Neither is ideal under all circumstances. The chief advantage of the X3 is in its creative opportunities (same as any 360 camera) - it's the best tool for the job if the job requires a 360 degree reframable image.
