Install a Bestop Supertop on an old CJ5 

I love how you’ve restored your CJ. Thanks for saving a Jeep! We bought a brand new CJ5 back in 1974 and it came with a dealer installed rear chrome bumper exactly like yours. This is the first time in 46 years that I’ve seen another Jeep with that bumper! Your new top looks great, jeeps are made to be functional. Thanks for the video and the memories! Nicely done. I would like to add that the three rear windows are MUCH easier to install if you take tension off of the side struts.

So I watched the Rausch Cr. video and didn't notice it, but did in this video, your roll bar... any info. on who makes it ? While I'm sure there are others like it I've only seen one, mine... in 40+ yrs. You have a nice CJ, enjoy it with them kids... bout the best memories I have, my dad & me in the CJ... hunting & fishing out of it.

I know this video is 3 years old but one thing I was looking for is ... what are those elastic straps that are on the crossbars? They don't seem to have a function and they've always been a mystery to me since I bought my 74 CJ5 10 years ago. Since I live in Atlanta, I mostly just put the top up and leave the windows and doors off for winter and regular rain. If it's raining hard enough I will put the doors on, should I decide to drive my Jeep on a hard rainy day.

Cool Beans, I just bought an all original unmolested 1956 CJ-5/M38 that is in need of a new soft top. I like how this Bestop Super top fits and installs. By the by, who makes the dual crown roll bar that is installed on your CJ?

Now, imagine pulling up to a stop light, and without getting out of yer jeep, slip yer fingers through the space between the top and bottom door half. Separating them by sliding yer hand back and forth. Cracking the door open slightly, wave at the car beside you, cuz there three kids in the back seat. Left hand the top of the door off, and into the backseat. Left hand the bottom of the door off, and into the back seat. And then the girl in the back of the car beside you asks her father, "Daddy, can you take my door off please?" You smile wave and and watch as the driver sticks his hand out the window giving you the "bird". You know, you have just made another Jeeper.

Bestop makes a good product. Curious though, if you don't m,ind me asking (just don't answer if you do), How much did you save by going used? W went new when I bought mine, and probably shouldn't have. Ran me 15 hundo, including the doors.

They got some stuff called through the roof you can take that tape wet your finger put it in that tear let I dry you can’t pull it off

Probably a good soft top, technically, but i simply don't like the design. I find the door window ugly. Then it's too modern for a cj5. Plastic door handle has a cheap look and the contrast with a 50 yo car is tragic imho. Best top should have designed it thinking about the historic destination, paying more attention to.the details
