This video describes how to install your BesTop soft top on a Jeep. This vehicle happens to be a 1962 Willy's/Jeep CJ-5, but the install will be similar on many other vehicles. I followed the instructions where I could and I would suggest you follow the instructions, too. There were some steps that I did differently than what the instructions called for out of necessity. Your vehicle might be different than mine and you should decide how you want to proceed with your installation.
With all that being said I think this video will be very helpful to some who have never done a project like this before. The end result is great. We are happy with the way it turned out and the new look our Jeep has. It seems to be very weatherproof so far as well. Thanks for this great video. I live in Washington State. I'm going to look at a 1995 tomorrow, it has a cylinder engine and it look pretty complete except for the interior seats and carpet. Thanks for the video and you mine exploration.

You sir are the man! I bought a Cj7 with a hardtop already on and a soft top in 100 pieces. Watched 3 other videos and was still lost. Yours set me straight. Shot out to your silent helper too!

Hi Mel. Glad that you found the video useful. We really enjoy having the top on the Jeep. Keeps us warm and dry when it's cold and out of the sun when it's hot. The doors are easy to take off when it's hot out. Thanks for the comment!👍😁

Great video and very helpful...Too bad BestTop has went backwards on their tops. I installed two of these in the 80's and they fit perfect and worked even better. These new ones have crappy doors that don't fit and forget ever taking the windows off. It took all I had to install them. Cheap parts and poor design. Too bad they made these changes. Only wish there was another supplier. Back to the video, the fitting of the doors, first, was brilliant and very helpful. Great video taping and explanations. Thanks, safe travels and God Bless...

Nice top. It gives the Jeep a whole different look. However, it looked like you were going to have a few head bumps before you got used to the top being there. Tom, why are you always driving off and leaving Julie? Hahaha 🤣

It does really change the look and now it's a bit more weatherproof, too. We're thinking about towing it around this winter for our annual trip, although it's very impractical since it's so old and slow. Somebody has to run the camera on the driving off shot and she's the only person around lol. Thanks for the comment, P-Daz!

@@PidasianHippie Hopefully this will be our toad next winter. The trouble comes when traveling down the road for supplies or getting to a trailhead that is more than a few miles away. This thing only goes about 50 MPH and if you've ever driven in Az. or Ca. you know it's going to be a problem. But, like you mentioned, it has a high cool factor.

Good vid. I would have personally changed out some of that hardware to be drilling smaller holes, but I understand it came with the kit. On those two bolts that you had to drop into the tubes that were on the CJ, I would have also put a washer to get more contact area to hold everything together. That newer style CJ Besttop is kinda made like the tops that came with the TJ Jeeps...has the lower flange now built into the Jeep so you don’t have to drill snaps into the tub. Would love to see more vids on your old CJ.

Thanks for watching and commenting. I didn't really like drilling all the big holes either. This thing has been pretty well drilled all over through the years so it wasn't exactly pristine to start with. It's holding up well so far. We'll be attempting to tow it down to the California desert this winter to do some exploring. If all goes well I'll be making some videos about using the Jeep instead of working on it, which is more what I'm about.

Yes, two Jeeps. We have a 1962 Willys CJ5 and a 1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ. We picked up the YJ last fall because our engine rebuild on the old one had some issues and we needed an offroad vehicle for our winter desert exploring. I think the old one is more fun to drive except it's really slow on the highway.
