Mostly on stocks and ETFs, theres no reason you couldnt use it on futures, but personally I use the SPY to do the job and provide confluence.

I just save the study set with pre set anchor dates. Call the study set something like "aVWAPs_Intraday" and save it each time you adjust the anchors.

Have been using AVWAP on TOS for a while using Brian Shannon's book. As always, your explanations are clear and concise. You must have been a teacher in a prior life. Question - if I want to create multiple VWAPs for QQQ, SPY and IWM, then I would create an individual study for each index with different start dates? Correct?

Yep, create a different set with different start dates that you want, and then save the indicator set as a study set. From there you can apply different study sets to different tickers based on where the anchor dates are. Hope that makes sense. Brian Shannon huge pioneer of the aVWAP.

TOS recently added an anchored VWAP to the studies menu. They should have added it to the tools menu so that anchors could be added to specific points on different securities. For such a powerful piece of software, its unbelievable that programs like stockcharts, trading view, etc. provide a true anchor feature but TOS IS limited to specific points across all securities.

Thank you for the generous video. I'm concerned about one aspect of VWAP though. When you're looking at a historic chart and showing "anchor points," isn't it true that those aren't really relevant - because they're only reflecting look back data? For instance, if one anchor appears, say, 6 months ago, you can't really say "look how nicely VWAP showed a turning point" because in real time - 6 months ago - the anchor would have been in a different price zone based on the look back period you are using. For example, if I'm looking at the emini futures today and using a VWAP set to one year, I see a nice turning point in March. But in March, that same 1 year of data wouldn't have shown the same price point. Hence, isn't VWAP a lagging indicator, and if so, how would you address that? Tnx

The calculation happens in real time so I'm not sure that I fully understand your concern. Once the aVWAP prints, it stays put. New price data and volume data only impacts the prints as time goes on. The anchored VWAP would not have "changed locations" after a certain point in time. I would caveat this with the fact that the /ES has contract rolls, and thus the volume is only important if the anchor point is in the active timeframe for the contract. You wouldnt want to use /ES anchored VWAP while the contract wasnt trading front month.

Its the hour. Military time so 0730 is the EST timezone for 7:30 am. 2pm eastern time would be 1400 in that box.

I downloaded this and saved it, but it is not showing up in my chart when I try to apply it. The platform shows it in the list of studies and it shows up in the list of studies I have applied to the chart, but it isn't showing up on the chart itself. I have wanted this for a long time and was excited when I found it, but now it isn't working for me. Any ideas?

Ok, so I added the Vwap indicator BOTH ways and it doesn't show up on the chart. I even detached the chart, removed ALL of the other indicators for a clean view, and nothing... :(
