Hi Alpine Team, thank you for making this video to help us all get the most out of our equipment. Could you please direct me to a more in depth advanced settings tutorial for setting each band of the parametric EQ and fully utilizing the customizable functions of balancing the rear, front, and sub settings?
That steering control and mic jack is a speed bump for sure. My mic blew when I connected it to the steering control jack and switched on. Mine wasn’t an Alpine HU to be clear.
No comment on all the connectivity problems which blows my mind after buying several different types of phones to make this work. I am ready to try a firmware update after 6 months of a pathetic experience. Wish me luck!
Android auto can be a pain on this headunit, my galaxy s20 would disconnect or say usb not supported all the time, apparently the factory usb cord that comes with this radio is faulty, run a new usb cord straight to the back of the head unit and get rid of the factory usb. I did this now my android auto works good 90% of the time opposed to like 40% before. Hope this helps, also I updated my radio to the latest firmware ware didn't really seem to change much but the new usb did.
Hello I purchased this Alpine multimedia player about a year and four months ago how to professionally installed now as of two weeks now my screen goes black everything works but the whole screen goes completely black for sometimes a couple hours sometimes just 20 minutes sometimes longer. This is very frustrating . Does anybody have any advice they can offer to help me figure this out I’ve reset the unit I’ve pulled the fuses the running fuses like Crutchfield told me to do and nothing seems to help. Thank you
I just got this stereo and 6 alpine speakers installed. Sound is just garbage. Any if pre sets I choose it sounds flat and no depth and bass. Can you give me some custom settings? I don't have amplifier or subwoofer
Just gotta say, I purchased an iLX W650 last year and it has been the most frustrating and convoluted radio install I've ever done. Installing it in a 21017 Honda Civic required multiple adapters, alternative wiring mechanisms, and the most idiotic wiring hacks just for the backup camera to work. The system preferences are mostly inaccessible unless I do a hard restart by disconnecting the battery. Also, it should not have to take a double-activation of the parking brake just to access system preferences, which might work if the parking brake is mechanical, as gestured in this video. However, the Honda has an electronic button for the parking brake with more complex wiring system. I thought I was buying a high-quality head unit for a reasonable price, but It's been a severe disappointment. In hindsight it would have been cheaper had I bought a more competitor's expensive unit, had it professionally installed, and bought the technicians dinner as a thank you. I'll never recommend, or purchase, an Alpine again. Sorry, this customer is looking elsewhere from now on.
Yea it fucking sucks dude. I bought the bypass for it. Frustrating yea I should have never strayed away from KENWOOD EXCELON. This ilx is the worst purchase I have ever made.
Love my kta 450 and my ilx w650 i have them in both of my vehicles. But that being said im in my 3rd kta 450 out of warranty i have developed issue with at low volume one if the channels will randomly go quiet then when volume is turned up it comes back as well as after prolonged higher volume all 4 channels will subtley lose about 5 to 10% output intermittently just enough to be noticeable it gies away after reducing the volume. But as for sound quality i love them on my rockford fosgate speakers
@@melissathompson7229 that was my first thought woth the first amp but the speakers were replaced with new one i went from polk to fosgate and still the same issue then bought the new 450 and it worked fi e fir a whike then ended with the same issue unfortunately. I really like the sound quality when they work
So many videos about iLX-W650, but almost nothing about iLX-W690D. I compared them on alpine website, did not find much difference. Are they almost the same? Ordered iLX-W690D because it's newer, waiting for it.
Maybe someone can help me out here before I go though the hassle and return everything. I own a 2003 jeep grand cherokee and I opted to get the ilx650 as well as the kta 450. When I turn the jeep off I get extremely loud popping from the speakers. Also, when I turn the HU up to volume 13 or louder it starts popping almost like a cd is skipping. Does anyone have a solution to this? I'd hate to have to return everything. What are some go to settings for this unit paired to the 450. Someone please help. Thank you.
I own both the ilx-407 and the ilx-650. I have had no problems out of the 407 other than the internal sub volume not working. The 650 however, constantly looses the usb connection constantly or says usb device not supported while using my phone. Any recommendations?
@@mitchnoble442 that did not work for me. Software is updated now and still loosing connection. It isnt as bad now. I am going to try a new cable soon.
Dont, buy the bypass module on amazon. Having to use the e-brake to access the time settings or sound setting is insane. I get not watching videos but thats just me
I have the 650 and the dpp amp in a 2004 Wrangler. Beautiful unit, exactly what I hoped for but…..it pops on shutdown. I have adjusted dip switches, triple checked rca connections, and checked all grounds for resistance and continuity. What gives? Its gotta be the unit power down timing. What can I do to fix this? It drives me nuts.
I’ve seen a bunch reviews on this and found that it’s the amp causing it. Only found out about it after buying it and being half way through the install. Curious if mine will end up doing it or not
Have spent hours trying to install the 650 head unit with the stackable 450 Amp on the back of the unit with a additional 200 watt Amp for subs. After hours of trial and error finally got unit to work but it not allowing radio to play but about "half volume" before it begins to cut out. Any suggestions or links for proper install on a 2011 chevrolet silverado would be GREATLY APPRECIATED
So, I've gotten mixed results when asking people how to connect bluetooth. Ive been told you have to connect through USB for everything. I've been told you only have connect through usb if you're using your navigation from your phone. I've been told you can connect wirelessly thought blutooth to do it all. Which is it?
I have not tried the firmware yet but this device barely does Bluetooth but you have to connect Phone USB cable to your cell service mobile phone to get any type of guidance and no GPS built in to this head unit either so if you are lucky enough to get it to work when you connect the cable it glitches and says device not recognized on most every cell I have tried in the last 6 months. Hoping theere is a proper firmware update or I am sending it to be recycled for junk.
@@yardclean1 Just following back up with you on this. I got it installed and my son's iphone has worked flawlessly through the usb for apple car play. He's able to receive and make calls, have texts read to him and respond through bluetooth mic. He is very happy with it and I was amazed at how many advanced audio options it has.
Hello guys, I have a question about the KTA-450. I am planning to pair with ILX-407 to power 6x9 Hertz for the front doors and 6.5” Hertz at the back. My question is should I still use the HPF from the KTA or use only the crossovers from the head unit? Thanks!..
Is there a setting that allows screen tilting? My 650 is great, but I need better access to the bottom buttons.. All of my old Alpine HU's had a full screen tilt for glare and accessibility Any help would be great, thanks
If you have a factory system and just want a good head unit, I'll save you some time and money. Don't buy either ilx-w650 or ilx-407. I had the ilx-407 professionally installed yesterday and totally lost sound from the factory subwoofer. We did the xover trick but it only helped a little bit and everything sounded muddy. I took the 407 back and they replaced it with a ilx-w650 which didn't sound much better, even after the latest firmware update that is supposed to specifically correct this problem. I believe this is just a trick to force you to purchase an Amp and subwoofer, which I can't do, due to having no room in my truck. I expected better from alpine. Greatly disappointed.
Scott, I installed the ilx-w650 and the kta-450 power pack in my Tundra double cab about a year and a half ago. At first, because I didn't understand how to properly adjust all the settings and jump switches on the back of the amp, I found the system didn't have the low end the factory head unit did. I took my truck to a professional audio shop and paid them to tune it for me. They made several adjustments to the the amp gain, hi and low freq pass-thrus, and the crossover settings. Now this system has a lot more low end than the factory head unit had without a sub. Of course, your comment suggests you didn't spring for the kta-450 amp and doesn't mention if you have speakers capable of 50 watt rms (peak) input. So, my experience may be different than yours. Just food for thought.
