Best informational video out there great job very comeplete details and camera work ,very helpful. I have 1 question as for the poly cushions would it be better to put a hole in the right center toward the wiring of them so you can feed the wire through so the cushion speads out better and flatter ? It also seems with all that vibration the filler will drop some toward the cone not sure velco would work Just a thought i had ,awesome video just asking 😂
Hey there alpine . So I’m actually building a system for my 3rd gen Prius and looking at the R series. So I would assume the 4 channel amp R2-A60F Would pair great with the 6x9 R2-S69C And the 6.5 R2-S65C ?? And even tho if the amp does output more than the rated RMS that will not hurt the speakers themselves? I’m new too this but pretty interested in building a system with this set up and just wondering if it’s all compatible. Thank youall for your time and have a great day!
I want to use this amp to use for 2 components 6.5 in front stage. 2 coax back door 2 6x9 in back window how would I set up the filters. I do have a 2.8prv dsp also.
Great video, thank you Colin! I just bought one of these units, and have a 2017 manual transmission. Are you able to share the best way to connect the white/grey wire out of the harness into the corresponding wire in the passenger kick panel, so it will automatically engage a camera in reverse?
hey AlpineTv i want to buy your R2 series bundle that comes with a pair of component 6x9 (+ pair of tweets) and pair of component 6.5 ( + pair of midrange and pair of tweets). My question is if the Alpine R2 4 channel amp would smoothly support all these speakers. The 6.5 component comes with a cross over (connecting one 6.5, mid, and tweet) i assume to one channel and the other half of the pair to an additional cross over, again assuming supported by one channel ( the two crossovers getting an individual channel to itself). And the remaining two channels, connecting one 6x9 and its component tweet to one and the other half of the pair to the last channel. Would your alpine R2 amp support these speakers. Please reach out as i don’t want to ruin these expensive speakers or amp.
Additionally, the 6.5 comes with a crossover allowing to connect all the speakers(one6.5, one mid, one tweet) to one channel, i assume. However, the 6x9 component comes with a smaller crossover only allowing, i think, an input and output for just the tweet. Would i just combine the ends of the wire for the 6x9 and tweet at the input of the amp channel? Meaning 2 speaker wires into 1 channels positive and two speaker wires into that channels negative. As opposed to the 6.5 crossover allowing 1 wire input into a channels + and 1 wire into its -
I used to have many Alpine products in the mid 90s, Alpine CD players, alarm, amps, and speakers. When Alpine products were made in Japan. I decided to upgrade to the triple disc fold down CD player in 98, that thing was a nightmare, the cartridge would get stuck, and it skipped whenever I went over a bump. One day while driving on the freeway, and the cartridge didn't eject, I yanked the whole unit out of my center console and tossed it out the window. Haven't had an Alpine product since. Came to find out later, the stereo shop that sold me the unit said they had many complaints ever since Alpine started their production in chyna lol.
If you have an aftermarket head unit and arent using the base adjustment knob hardwired into the harness what should we set it to? Or is there a way to jump it out altogether??
Been looking to purchase Alpine SS-SB10 S-Series 10" 2-Ohm Preloaded Shallow Subwoofer Enclosure but have not found any detailed reviews on this down firing sub. Any advice?
I don't care how's it looks. All I care about is the performance of this subwoofer. Would like to know the advancements compared to the previous generation subs.
This might help you ! when i hit settings everything would be greyed out. i’ve been trying to figure out how to fix it. what i did, Car in park, no phone plugged in/connected and be in the system menu. I lifted my E-Break put it back down and lifted it again and then all options popped up and i could click on it and set bluetooth up.
So… I recently had to call Alpine tech help because I had no sound from speakers (easy fix, I had to reinstall tweeters from spliced wire Jl audio to Kicker oem plug n play). Dude at Alpine was very cool and really educated me on wiring, troubleshooting and got into just how complex and intelligent these head units have become. He then asked if I was having trouble with the settings tab and it sometimes being inaccessible. I told him it was really hit or miss and how the tab turned on about 1/2 the time when needing to use it and it didn’t matter if I had e-brake on or if I engaged the e-brake twice (like shown in this vid). He then proceeds to tell me that the settings tab/e-brake is a known issue with no real solution (mind you, this guy tells me he’s been with Alpine USA since 1998). So what I did was go to my settings and turned off the parking brake tab and set it to “park”. What that does is eliminates the need to use the e-brake and allows the settings tab to turn on when the car is “park”. So basically my settings tab is always on until I put my car in drive or reverse or neutral.
It actually moves 27mm one-way. The 20mm rating is likely something based on gap, topology, and coil dimensions or from THD testing and represents linear movement. Don't sell your product short! Many shallow subs can do 20mm xmech but none can do 20mm linear. I would love to know more about the shorting ring(s)/ Farraday shielding if any, Klippel testing, and motor strength. The previous version of this subwoofer had a lot of detailed Klippel testing shown. Previous version also looks to have twice as much neodymium magnet on it. Must be why the QTS is so high on this newer one. Seems like the old gen had more xmech and more motor strength for a low Q. This newer version has the dual gap and rear mounting, which is really cool but some cost cutting in the magnet size. Unless there is some limitation in packaging of the motor, but that's not obvious to me.
Weird to insult the ultra efficient factory 8" for your far less efficient 6 1/2' midrange. The factory speakers are cheap and made of paper, but they are ultra efficient. I'm guessing the factory 8" has better mid-bass than the Alpine aftermarket that requires much more power. Mid-bass is always the hardest frequency range to achieve. I cannot imagine replacing even a stock 8" for a 6 1/2. Tesla should be commended for using 8s in the front doors.
