Adding front and rear cameras to your Jeep Wrangler is AWESOME. This is one of my favorite upgrades so far. It’s hard to find a good setup, so I had to do quite a bit of custom work to get it right, but the end result is really, really awesome. Watch as we get a new deck installed, tie in front and rear cameras, and test the entire setup.

Great video, I actually have this same camera in my Amazon cart. Waiting on my kenwood HU to come in and it supports front and rear camera so will be ordering 2 of these.

Thomas Suits just got back from Moab, Utah this weekend and I cannot tell you how much I love using the front facing camera. Absolutely changed the way I jeep!!

I've been wanting to do this for a while now. Just wasn't sure where to mount that front camera. Currently using PAC Audio to allow me to add cameras to my stock head unit. The PAC Audio unit allows you to add up to 4 cameras to the stock head unit. The module is called the PAC INTELLIGENT 4 CAM SWITCHER. Model VS41

Shakey JK, I was reading about this device on Amazon, it says the camera switches with the turn signals. Is that true? Is it a pain?

Really well actually. After running it for several years (through harsh Utah winters and lots of off road, mud, dust, etc) the spot is still perfect. I use the cameras every day!

You can do a lot more things with aftermarket head units then with their proprietary unconnect and having to unlock stuff via tazers

Kai I’m guessing it’s because most of the stereos don’t support two cameras, so to get a second one for the front means changing out the “head unit” which adds a lot of cost.

I'm curious to know if the head unit is intelligent enough to know to switch the camera to rear when you back up and then when you go back to drive, switch to the front camera again, or does it take you back to the home screen when you go back to drive. I just installed an Alpine and tried to do this same thing, but it loses it's mind and gets the camera views confused. It also goes back tot he home screen after reverse. It's a real problem if you get into a situation where you need to do some back and forth on the trail to get the right position.

Interesting scenario. When I hit the camera button, it pulls up the front facing camera and I can tap the top of the screen to toggle between the rear and front cameras. If I’m going off road, I will typically leave it set to the front camera, and I can’t recall, whether or not, after reversing, it reverts back to the front camera or just goes to the home screen. I think it just resumes where I was before, but I will have to test that out.

Just bought this setup. Same cameras but the Kenwood DMX9707S as I didn't need the DVD player. How did you get the front camera to not be in flipped mode as its a backup camera. I can't find any setting s to change this.

Curious would the bracket you bought work with if you flipped it over so the camera is on the bottom side of the fairlead?

Anthony Smith it absolutely would work that way, assuming your fairlead size/shape would allow it. I chose not to because I was worried that I would scrape the camera off on a climb...

Paul Lovgren I forget how you do it, but you have to wire something to the pedal, or maybe it was NOT wire it to the pedal. I can’t remember. It’s not terribly hard though. I googled it.

I am having this set up installed next weekend. Did the shop you had do the install give you a problem about allowing the video to play while the vehicle is in motion? Also anything you would do different with the install?

George Jeknavorian GREAT question. I did my research on what it required and told the install technician “can you please run the _____ wire to ground?” He replied “I’m not supposed to, but okay.” Be aware, different brands require different things to make this happen. Ken Wood is super easy. Others require more effort.

Did Best Buy install the cameras you bought from Amazon for the front and the rear? (I understand you moved the location of the front camera).

George Jeknavorian I installed the camera hardware on the front and rear so it would be exactly as I wanted, but they ran all the wire and connected it to the head unit.
