Apologies for the slow responses on comments - I was away wheeling all weekend! if want to leave a tip using the THANKS button next to LIKE and help support these videos it is greatly appreciated.
This is awesome!! I didn't add the front camera to my '22 because I couldn't afford it but now I'll be able to save up a few hundred and add this after the fact!!!!
Make sure to tell Z-Automotive that them sending you this has increased their sales by at least 1... for both this camera and the Tazer JL Mini thing!!!
I put mine in the grill and have the bull bar works fine. it's nice to see the bumper for reference to how far away something is. I'm not sure if your camera location is gonna survive if you go through a grown in alder road. Another hack for you is if you hit your mute button twice it will turn on your back up cam then you can select cargo cam.
I wanted to let you know that I purchased the Tazer JL mini after watching this and other videos and the one they sent me arrived broken and getting in touch with tech support is more than challenging. They only provide text or email support and the support I did get was terrible and after spending $500 with a company I expect a little bit more. I Just want you to know that you may want to include that tidbit with your review. They provide no real back end support for their products. This is not an indictment of you. I follow you and really get a lot out of your video, and I want to thank you for what you do here. It is appreciated
Their products are great but I agree, their support is not very good. It would also help if they rewrote their manuals and made them far more comprehensive. Specifically describing *EVERY* function, what the various states are for each, which ones need a full reboot, etc. Email support is slow and can be condescending. IIRC they are in Suffolk County on Long Island, NY (631 area code), so I'd consider that in character with the area (North Jersey guy here and we're about the same).
Two questions/comments: 1) You mentioned the Tazer JL Mini was needed to unlock the cargo cam feature. I do not have one of these guys. Is there a work around? 2) Did you try mounting the camera on the bottom of the bull bar? My thought is this would give you a more elevated wider angle with no obstructions. Great video!!!!
Amazing ! I been looking for ways upgrades for my 2016 wrangler. Especially add larger tire on rear future wise decision add cam don't know we're find system for my Jeep 🚙 . Awesome upgrade great video brother ✌👮🚙
Thanks for the review install vid. I have. 2019 JL and was thinking about getting this for the exact reasons you mention. But I worried the camera quality would be terrible. Glad to see it is pretty decent quality and fairly easy to install. 👍
Any issues using a different camera? I see the Wicked camera you used is HD and the Uconnect cargo cam isn't. No compatibility issues using non-z auto camera? I am liking the license plate mount the best for either the bull ball or the plate.
Nice job. I have the camera but haven’t installed yet. I am waiting for the Warn winch to get delivered from Amazon. I like the top of the wench location. Keep up the good videos. Hit me up if you are ever in North Alabama.
So I took a look online at z automotive front camera kit for 179 but the closer I looked at the wireing harness I started to realize I could do the same for next to nothing,I went to the dollar store bought an rca cable with a female end,cut it off found an old harnes with female connectors around the same diameter as the factory head unit pins, spliced them together with the cord from the dollar store, ordered a back up camera from Amazon plugged everything together and activated my cargo cam and for around $35 had a front faceing camera,no need to buy from z automotive.
How many hours should I plan for this install? Wondering how long it took you exactly :) Heard you say "a couple hours" towards the end so wanted to confirm. Super helpful video Casey!! Thanks
Great Video...I just installed my Tazer Mini and the ZAutomotive camera on my 2019 JLUR and everything works as advertised. With that said, I bought the optional camera (from your link) that mounts on the license plate, since I too also have a bull bar / Winch and KC hilites on the bumper and for some reason the view is mirrored flip from left to right (meaning the left is on the right and the right is on the left), flipping the camera vertically just flips the view upside down. I went and bought a different brand of the same type camera (that states it's for front and rear) and same difference. I'm just wondering if you know of this issue or ran into it? Otherwise, I'm going to have to figure out a way to mount the ZAutomotive camera (since that one displays correctly. Thanks in advance.
I have a question on the power 12v hook up . Instead of the 12v I have an electronic brake box from the factory . Is the plug in plug the same as the 12v plug ? Thanks
Hey can you please do me a huge favor and tell me how the front camera works if you put it in reverse? I would like to know if the front or rear camera has priority. I want to run an extension to the back of my camper and use that front camera kit as my rearview mirror. I also hope I get it to stay on when I back up the trailer. Thanks Jake
Is there any chance you can say how much an item costs whether it's free or not? Also, I'm becoming a HUGE fan of yours! Keep up the awesome content, love what you do!! ;)
So the camera is powered as long as the ignition switch is on? That's horrible for the camera. Significantly lower lifespan. Also, can someone please explain to me why you would need a camera in front. If you just look through the windshield, you can see in front of you... Been crawling and off-roading for many years and the thought of a front facing camera has never crossed my mind as something useful. Maybe under the jeep or on the sides...
Has anyone out there tried to put the gladiator camera on the front? In my RAM I used Customtronix for reprogramming my uConnect which provided two additional camera options, with one automatically turning on in the front at below 5mph, so they must have figured something out like a Zautomotive did for the turn signal.
You put heat shrink over them. Ive had the same rca and power connector on my JK backup camera and I heat shrank it and its never had an issue. However, yes some weather tight connectors would of been nice.
I do also have this front camera installed on a JLU, but I don‘t like the poor image quality. - Does anybody know, if it‘s possible to install a Gladiator front camera to a JL, which fits the quality of the original rear camera?
Hi, great video! Do I have to buy a Tazer JL to enable the front camera? I really don't need the Tazer for anything else, so it will make front camera install much more expensive.
Did you end up using the heat shrink included? I noticed there was only one piece in the kit and the instructions were a little unclear as to which wires needed it.
Rule 1, get a Tazer Mini from Z Automotive not a Tazer Lite from Amazon! Spent a week trying to figure out what was wrong and paid another $125 to get the full option upgrades. Ugh! “Measure once cut twice.” 🤣😂🤣
@@Casey250 I was wondering why it was less than on the Z Automotive website. Well because I was ordering the wrong darn thing. I’m still getting the Blue Death Screen, but at least I’m on the correct sheet of music.
There is suppose to be a grommet behind the glove box that goes into the engine bay but it sounds like it is a lot harder to access. I might use it to mount my air compressor to cut down some of the distance I need to get to the back.
Does the camera have recording ability? I read on a forum that the ARB compressor might be a little faulty...is that true? or are there haters? I keep editting ...sorry... have you heard of "67Designs?" they do phone/tablet/walkie holders. i think they got some nice designs, what do you think?
QUESTION: When you removed the SGW module to install the Tazer Mini, what functionality did you lose? I am reluctant to go forward with the camera if I have to give up some other functionality in order to bypass the programming in UConnect, without at least knowing what I lose... Thoughts?
I installed mine exactly how your showing on your video on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler. It is still not recognizing the Camara. It is really hard to get hold of someone from Z automotive for tec support. We used 21 yellow and 22 black in the back of the Jeep. Any idea what else I can do to make it work?
the yellow lines can actually block a lot while crawling. at least i find it annoying and dont even bother with the front camera anymore. just my opinion.
Great video! Just got it all hooked up, using the license plate camera you reccomended. Only problem is the picture seems to be "reversed", do you know of any way to convert that license plate camera to work front facing? TIA
Hi. I just received Tazer mini and camera hardware. Installed camera no problem but Tazer mini is another story. Connectors on my 2020 3.0L diesel do not fit Tazer mini. There are two large and one smaller that potentially fit but I didn’t even try. How did you installed it on your diesel JL?
Unless I’m mistaken there are a few different models; one is called the Tazer, another the Tazer Lite, and lastly Tazer Mini. Maybe there’s some confusion around the nomenclature?
