Every time I watch one of these GL "How To" videos, I have an overwhelming urge to beat a Honda Engineer unconscious. Not sure where that comes from...
I replaced the low beams on my 2006 last year with the pathfinder LEDs, and tonight did the high beams. The right one wasn't too bad as I've had the top cover off before to change air filter and I'm getting ready to do the coolant flush. The left side stumped me when I noticed the lever for the foot heater was in the way. I was scratching my head as to how to get it. Your video saved my bacon all these years later. Thanks for the videos over the years. I still watch your channel. WOW the are bright white!

I install installed these on my 1800 Goldwing. Very nice I recommend these to everybody. Low beams were a little tough to join the wires together both ends. I found the high beams were a little easier to do because they sit further back in the fairing. Easier to plug in.
Hello my friend..this is Emmett, U.S.MARINES, RETIRED..AND PURCHASED A 2009 GL1800 GOLDWING, AND ITS STILL NEW..ONLY HAD 11000,ON THE ENGINE..GREAT LOOKING BIKE..AND IV STARTED TO UP GREAD ITS LIGHTS FOR BETTER NIGHT visibility..This is my first GL 1800.WING. MY OTHERS WERE THE GL 1500..OF WHICH I WOULD DO MOST ALL OF THE UPGRADES MY SELF..BUT WITH THIS GL1800,.HONDA TRULY DID NOT MAKE IT mechanically friendly to the Honda dealer or myself of which I have found to be highly unacceptable but what can you do..anyway I JUST WANT TO SAY ..THANK YOU FOR YOUR installation videos a various accessories I think your videos are excellent that has helped me a great deal in learning about this GL 1800.. and how to do my installs safely and efficiently and I have you to thank for that and I'm sure your other viewers feel the same way I just subscribed to your channel and I will be here as long as you are available to continue your installations instructions of needed accessories...👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I owned my 2001 for 16 year and never needed to replace the high beam however went through at least one low beam each year. I finally gave up and installed LED low beams. It's a great improvement but I am not sure if the high beams really require this upgrade, at least not for me. At any rate good video once again and it's probably something many will opt to do.
If you need to replace your air filter I would suggest you do do that at the same time. The reason being is that a lot more space opens up under the fairing when you take off the glove box to replace the air filter.
As per the 2012 Goldwing, the left high beam wiring has a green and white wire. Do you know which wire is a 12V source? I am installing PIAA driving lights under the fairing and as usual will use a POS / NEG, but the light harness has a third wire from the Piaa light switch that is supposed to tap into the high beam as a power source. This allows the driving lights to function only while using the high beam as requested via the instructions. Thanks for any info, and great job on the videos.
Very nice video thanks a bunch, I just got a 2008 wing and was wondering how much it would take to do all four bulbs to LED. All my other bikes I have converted to LED. SO much better light.
Great Video. I had a head light burn out last summer and replaced all of my bulbs at the same time thinking that if one goes they pretty much are all getting ready to go. I will tell you that I never cursed so much in my life. I thought I was never going to get those rubber boots back in place. You are right it is all done by feel and there is no way in the world that you can see what you are doing. I wish I could tell you what made them slip into place but I can't. one by one they finally seemed to just slip into place. Damn, it was a job!
Aerosol spray silicone (Liquid Wrench is one of many brands available) goes a long way in getting those boots back into place- they slide up onto the housing with ease although your fingers get slippery in the process too.
Is it possible to put Electrical Connection high beams in the goldwing with the regulator modulator box attached to the led wire . Is there enough room in the high beam area? Thanks for a reply.
You forgot to mention polarity of the LED bulbs. Test your new LED bulbs before reinstalling. If they don't light up, pull the bulb out of its socket and reinstall it with the pins turned 180 degrees. Test again, and voila, they should work. Then reassemble.
When you stop the video at :57 I think the lighting from the Stock Halogen is better than the 80W LED. Is that low or high or beam? Throws the beam much farther.
Dave M don’t get them the low beam halogen are way better I tried them sent them back they are white lights but the beam is terrible my led in driving lights were 10x bright
@@dariusmooney14 I replaced both high and low beams on my 07. Dramatic improvement on both. It is the same bulb for both. Another advantage is that the LEDs will probably last forever. Those bulbs are a PITA to change.
It would truly be appreciated my good friend if you always told us the price of the product you are installing like for instance the high-powered high beam bulb replacements only truly would like the price for those for my 2009 1800 gold wing ???
Emmett, the reason I don't usually do that is my videos often remain relevant for many years and prices continually change over time, and between suppliers.
When you put the wires back on the bulbs, test them before you button up the bike. With LEDs it may make a difference which wire is on which terminal. With standard bulbs it doesn't.
These are a completely wrong style of bulb for a reflector housing, this is why they don't cast a beam down the road or give the correct pattern. There are other H7 options for LED's without a heat-sink that are a better design for the Gl1800 reflector housing...
Freaking Honda cars are designed the same moronic way. Always been a pain to work on, always will be! And they pay people big money to design these things !
