Install of HD Rear View Camera Mirror into Ford Transit Custom Camper Van 

Ah good 👍 yeah it’s been really good.. just one thing I noticed after I had run the wire for the camera it can detach with a connector which I think would make the install a bit easier 👍

@TransitCustomCamper one question: Does the camera get scratched with car washes?

Hey Angela 😃 as the van is the 2nd vehicle and driving my car more I kept looking for a mirror in the van… so this helped loads 👍 works really well actually… but if a faff to fit and run the cables.. but all good 👍 ha yeah after fitting this I rekon rear windows would have been easier 🤣

Yes absolutely! We wouldn’t be without it now as helps so much with overall visibility. Also when people riding your bumper you can see that too which is really helpful. Just to give a balanced view… When it’s dark, headlights in the rear view camera can be a bit bright ☀️ - thanks for checking out the video 👍

It was a bit of a pain with the 90 degree connector… I keep thinking I could have made it easier for myself too.. 😃 Have you done/doing a conversion?! @@TransitCustomCamper done quite a bit of 12v electrical for others. My "retirement" project this winter will be my own van; Transit Custom H2L2, hopefully a Trail model with the limited slip diff, but apparently used vans are getting rare due to component shortages for new ones.

Glad they been useful and also awesome we have same van 😄 I actually mounted this by getting a cheap rear view mirror that has a suction cup that I put just to the right of the plastic cover and mount the camera 📷 n that. @@TransitCustomCamper Thanks. I will have a look. I’m still at the insulation and carpet lining stage but I though it would be easier to do the reversing camera while I still have access the the wiring loom. ps. Thanks for the tip on the hidden 12v socket, I found mine today.

@@seanfoden5530 ah cool 👍 Good luck with the build… Yes on the access don’t do what I did and carpet over access for rear light clusters and then have a brake light go 😂 I made some access panels on mine with ply and then carpeted them and looks quite neat 👍 Thanks again for the kind comments 👍

Hey - thanks for checking out the videos and the comment 👍 No I didn’t actually I got a rear view mirror with a suction cup of Amazon or eBay I think that sticks to the windscreen and attached to that… it’s not fallen off…. Yet 😀 I think getting an OEM would be better though to be honest but when I looked they were quite pricey?! Hope you can get something sorted ✅

Hey Elite 👍 Thanks for checking out the video and the comment. So I fixed mine with a normal mirror with a suction cup and then attached the camera mirror to that. So the original cover for the rain sensor is still in place. The cover itself just pops on and off but I do recall getting it lined up to fit was a bit of a faff 😂 Hope that helps and thanks so much for supporting the channel 👍

Ah great! Yeah I looked at OEM mirrors too! Seemed very pricey?! I got a £10 one of eBay with a suction cup and the camera mirror attached fine and no wobble etc 👍 Did you do a camper conversion on your connect?

There is enough slack on the cable to make sure it doesn’t pull etc.. so that’s all good.. in terms of the camera view… not tried it but I suspect it would then just then be forward facing 😃

Hi Helvis - thanks for taking the time to check out the video and the comment 👍 Yes you can the rear view camera can be left on all the time you driving. This was the main reason we got it to be honest. This model you can also have front facing view or also split between front and rear if you want. There is also an option to splice into the reverse light wire, and this then switches the camera to reverse view when you put into reverse. I didn’t bother with this as like I mentioned ours is so we have a permanent rear view mirror as the van has no rear windows 👍 It works well only one thing is when it’s dark the headlights of cars behind are quite bright and can be a little distracting at times. But you can adjust the brightness 🔆 to suit. It’s strange as wouldn’t be without it now I am used to it 👍

@@TransitCustomCamper Hi do you have to press anything to get the mirror to acts as a permanent rear view or will it auto switch to that view every time you start the engine?

@@tweedbean - hi there 👍 mirror camera has different modes and you can set it to show the rear camera all the time and it stays in this mode even after ignition off 👍

Hey Danny - thanks for the comment - I am don’t know specifically for the MK7 sorry. However, I fixed mine by getting a cheap rear view mirror that attached to windscreen with a suction cup and then attached the rear view mirror camera to this 👍 Works fine and cheaper than a OEM mirror attachment… hope your can get it sorted 👍

Hey Daryl… I got a normal mirror with a suction cup on the windscreen and put it on that 👍 I did look for original part but couldn’t find one.. it works well a little off set but all good 😃
