Video showing how to install openSSH server on Windows 10. Make sure that you have updated Windows version to be able to install it from apps & features as the video is showing.
I spent the whole day trying to figure out why the PuTTy connection wasn't working, watched like 20 videos, read tens of pages. This was the solution. Open SSH server needed to be running on both computers. THANK YOU SO MUCH, subscribed
so I messed up trying to setup a password and then tried to get a blank slate by unistalling open ssh client and authentication using the additional options menu. Now when I reinstall openssh client it won't appear in services even following restart (although open ssh authentification does appear). How can I wipe all the open ssh stuff for a fresh start?
Do you know how to limit per-user logins or sessions for OpenSSH server for Windows 10 or whatever SSH server for Windows 10? I'd like to share my GPU (Go AI engine) via SSH, but if a user connects many times, then the SSH server is doomed. Thanks in advance.
Hello, I have installed Filezilla Server to access a machine over the internet (through port forwarding). Can you please guide me how to access the same machine using built in Open SSH in windows?
it always asked me for a password which i dont know why? i removed it in ssh config file, i give permission to the folder, i dont use password in my windows 10, trying to connect via key, and its still the same why ?
Hello, if two PCs on the same network they can communicate with each other. Try to ping the other machine and if the machine respond then they can communicate
I set up the server in my windows machine and tried to connect with it via another device in LAN. The Auth was successful, but the firewall is blocking the connection. Same in the case of ftp server as well.
Anyone know why when I put in ssh user@ip it goes to password but I cant type anything in there it's like the keyboard is frozen but isn't so I cant connect
I'm new to Linux, SSH, and I cannot find the answers online to my issues. I seem to only find answers about how to do something on the machine I'm doing it on, but not the machine I will be connecting to (including GUI settings on both machines). My two constant painful errors are "port 22 connection timed out", and "connection refused" when trying to SSH from a Kali Linux box to my Windows 10 box, and, trying to use the built-in SSH feature in Windows 10 to remotely connect to the Linux box. How do I fix this on both machines (settings, open/close ports GUI, etc.)? Thank you. =).
Hello, no problem at all let's check that the ssh service already running on both Follow the steps from your Windows machine 1- Check the ssh service is running on port 22 2- open service and make sure that ssh is running 3- open your Windows firewall advanced security and make a rule to pass the ssh Follow the steps from your Linux Make sure that ssh is running enter the following commands 1- netstat -lnp | grep ssh Result to be shown tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN /sshd 2- service ssh status Results to be shown Server listening on 0.0.0.0 port 22 3-Make sure you the firewall not blocking anything Do you want a video for it ?
@@xviewmytubex Thank you for your comment, there are possibility that your ssh server is not running. Please make sure that the ssh server running on your windows machine. Would like to ask can you connect through ssh from Windows machine to your Linux machine ?
First need to check this you can ping from you Linux box to Windows Start ping both machine and tell what is the result from pinging both machine. and then check that the server is running from both machine Windows: $ netstat -a | findstr 22 Open your services and start to search for the openssh, and make sure both the ssh server and the agent is running Type the following command on you command prompt $ ssh This to make sure you have your agent is running on Windows Linux: $ netstat -lnp | grep 22 $ service ssh status $ ping Windows host You don't need to create any additional rules, just the inbound rule is enough. that to make sure that the firewall is not blocking the ssh port 22 Best regards,
@@xviewmytubex very good, actually if you didn't manage to install it on Windows it could be from the updates. Check your Windows version and then try to update it. If this didn't fix your issue try to install Ubuntu application and you can run ssh there
@@cyber-tech-tips I now have both server/client running on both my Windows machines. Now, I'm scared of connecting. Lol. I'll explain, earlier today at work I watched an ethical hacking course vid and the instructor mentioned that I should be using anonymity for "any" type of ethical hacking/pen testing (as I've been trying to achieve -- simply connect with one machine of mine to another of mine remotely all on the same network). If I don't hide my true network data, my ISP could flag this activity as unsafe, suspicious, whatever, and possibly interrupt/cancel my internet service. Is this true for what I'm trying to do? And, if I was to purchase a vpn (test no leakage, etc) and use that for what I'm trying to do, would the vpn's network data be seen by my ISP as suspicious (seeing one machines IP remotely connecting to another) and result in the aforementioned? As I said, I'm totally new to all of this. I hope to not keep bugging you further. Thank you for all the valuable help! =).
Hello, I'm trying to connect from Linux to Windows 10. SSH server is running well on W10. Nevertheless, when I try to connect using SSH to my W10 computer, a password is asked. I haven't set a password for this W10 computer & session... I checked ssh_config_default, I set #PermitEmptyPasswords to yes, but that still doesn't work. Any idea ?
You have to use your current user password, when ssh installed it's running over local account. Use your user password and you will be able to connect. Regards.
@@cyber-tech-tips That's what I don't get... I don't have a passport for my Windows user. Windows automatically connects to the session when I start it. Maybe I had one I disabled a long time ago !? But that seems you are talking about another pwd...
Another thing you can do to create ssh keys between Windows and Linux Try to see this as well ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iHbLatrPF2M.html
hello thanks for the video. it is helpful. I have a question: if we have 2 machines: machine 1 windows and machine 2 linux. These 2 machines are not at the same IP range. Is it possible to connect to machine 2 from machine 1 using ssh connection?
i think port forwarding on your router may help.. iam not a professionalist but please refer the useful resourse from web or u can ask question on stackoverflow
You mean the SSH. It secure shell make two computers to communicate. You can copy file from machine to other. It depends what you want to use it for. Also it has scp which means secure copy.
I have a question, I connect and when they ask my password I don't know which password I have to put. Where can I find the password needed ? Thank you so much
This password for the example user in the video. It just an example account. You can use your own account. Myaccount@hostname and use the password for the account
@@cyber-tech-tips I did and it says I downloaded it in apps and features but when I move over to services it doesn’t show up there like it was never downloaded or something
Which ssh server Linux or Wiindows Linux: $ whoami And you will get the user and you will need to type your password for that user if you want to create a user $ useradd user Follow the procedures and you can enter the password for that user If you don't know the password for that specific user you need to change the password by $ sudo passwd user And then you can change the password Windows: Open your command prompt $ whoami Then you will get the username and it's your password
When you find the OpenSSH Server service in the Services panel, right-click on it and hit Properties. Tab on over to "Log on" and then you can choose to use the "Local System account (default admin user) or you can specify another login. Curious as to what the checkbox "Allow service to interact with desktop" means, but that might have to be checked as well, not sure.
Could someone tell me ? my ssh server window machine does not have user password to login, but when i try to connect through ssh client it prompt for password. Is there any default password. How could i connect to it.
@@vattoxonfire1278 you mean in the command line for your client? It's the password for the user client, for example if you use your own account in Windows machine. Use the same password to access through ssh.
I think so many people are facing problem in connection if you don't know your exact username type *net user* in command prompt under the *Administrator* tab, you can find the userName now now type ssh userName@ipAddressOfYourMachine
