This is about installing a PHP website on Google Cloud Platform, you'll also learn how to change permission, upload files, and create free SSL using Letsencrypt.
Generate SSH Keys command:
ssh-keygen -t rsa -f ~/.ssh/keyname -C username

Excellent tutorial despite it being 4 years old, I was able to successfully set up LAMP, the SSH connection using Filezilla and then upload my PHP files. I have now to connect up to the MySQL instance and import my database, then ensure the database connection works. But in 20-30 mins I have made great progress. Thanks

This tutorial was one of the most helpful ever. So cool I got my entire website running on google cloud in an afternoon for free. Thank you. I only had problem with the ssl encryption until I realized I didn't check allow https and http on my firewall setting for my virtual machine. Moving on to the next big thing!

U sir, are great. if U showed us to make the same, but using buckets, SQL server and Commits from local machine that would be great, only a few explains this so nicely.

Hey David, it's only free when you use your $300 credit, either wise it's $5.13 a month. It could be more if you have a huge traffic.

I set this up a few months ago without any problems. Today I wanted to make an extra lampstack for test some new stuff and I can't get the ssh keys to work. I even tried making a new project for the vm but it still says the ssh key is not in the correct format and it breaks the code into 4 pieces. I have no idea what its doing.

@@patilprasanna2003 I'm running lamp stack on one of my websites on Google cloud and I only get charged on my server configuration. Lamp stack is open source, they shouldn't be charging on that software but I can't say for sure if they'll change this in the future. I have not made the mysql vid yet. Next month for sure.

its give me this error "The mbstring PHP extension was not found and you seem to be using a multibyte charset. Without the mbstring extension phpMyAdmin is unable to split strings correctly and it may result in unexpected results."

how does costs of running a website with Google cloud compare to other platforms?

It all depends on how much traffic you get on your website. If you have multiple small sites, it's probably cheaper to go with Bluehost or something else. For higher traffic sites, Google Cloud, AWS or Azure is more flexible

If you have windows, you have to download Putty on your pc, and use puttygen to create the key.

@@empatmilli Go to your Google Cloud account, look for Deployment Manager. From there, you should see your site(s) that you just deployed. It will also have the link to your phpmyadmin with the password.
