Funny you mention that... Last weekend someone gave the same advice and low and behold, our washer pump died again... Here is the video of me doing just that! Thanks for watching and the suggestion. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EFnyEKGAAd4.html Kevin
Thank you for your video!! Just finished installing the new pump, running a laundry load and all seems to be going well!! I’m a 48 yo working mother of 2 who is married to a very handy guy, but I’m determined to figure things out myself these days 💪🏼
You made my day! Thanks for taking the time to watch our video and let me know how it went! Thanks for watching our video. I hope you will visit our channel again. Kevin
Thank you for posting this! My washer is slightly newer but close enough to where your video helped me immensely with changing out my water pump. Didn’t need to make the modifications and also saved hundreds with your help. Appreciate you, greatly!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have successfully replace the drain pump and so far (fingers crossed) things are working like new again! You made this job so much easier, I had video playing over and over as I went through each step, it was like having a friend in the laundry room helping me!
Hi Gingerherrod8702, You made my day with your comment. This is exactly what we want to do in this community. Be a resource to others. We are glad it worked out for you! I just recently replaced the pump again for the probably 5th time. We do a lot of laundry here on the farm. Thanks for watching our video and taking the time to share your thoughts! Kevin
I'm glad I could help Pastor Matthew. I did another video on the same pump but I went through the bottom. Here is that video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EFnyEKGAAd4.html Thanks for taking a minute to leave a comment. I'd love to hear how the replacement went for you! God Bless! Kevin
My (09) Kenmore Elite is like yours and had the same 0E code. So since my older son is more mechanically inclined we used your video in finding where all the screws are and how to get at the pump, that was a big help!!! We got the pump out and saw the impeller was broke, so we verified part number from several online sites along with my washer model number and ordered new pump and gasket along that special ring tool from Amazon, I got all three items for $100.00 in 4 days. For some reason most of the gasket prices was $100.00+, I managed to find one for $45.00, pump prices was around $25,00 - $45.00. I called an appliance repair place and he quoted $450.00 - $550.00 for fixing pump only, so it does save a lot if when folks like you put a video out showing how it's done, thanks for posting!!!!!!!!!!
Job38Four, Comments like these are what motivates us to post videos. We love sharing what He has done for us through videos like this! Thanks for taking the time to watch and share your thoughts! Means a lot to us! Kevin & Emily
Glad this helped! One day I will need to put a new pc board in but as long as the reset works, I'll continue to do this. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Kevin
Loved how you showed all your mistakes, because that's exactly what would happen to me, & has happened to me on similar appliance repair projects. Thanks for the informative guidance & insight!
I don't think I showed all my mistakes Glynn St Jean. The video would have been too long!!! Most of them though. Having done this 3 or 4 times now, you'd think I would have this down. I don't know if it was in this replacement that I found one of my tools. I wonder what I'll find next time! Thanks for watching and taking a minute to share your thoughts. Means a lot to us! Kevin
Thanks for taking the time to create and share this video. It was very helpful for my drain pump replacement that I completed yesterday. I enjoyed your positive and calming personality, which helped me when I wanted to toss that door gasket spring clip out the window :D
The power of editing keeps my calm. I don’t use this term often but I truly hate that spring! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment it motivates me to make more videos hopefully not about a Kenmore! Kevin
Thanks for posting this video. It helped me fix mine. I had to replace the drain pump also. The only thing I did different was use a screw gun. It’s a lot quicker taking out and putting the screws back in. I did order the spring tool to take the spring off which made it much easier. Thanks for that also. I ordered the tool and drain pump from Amazon.
Thanks for watching and leaving your comment Mark L! It motivates us to make more videos. I'm glad you were able to get the pump installed. I can't tell you how long it took me the first time to get the ring back onto the front. I've done this 2 or 3 times already and didn't think about the screw gun. I'll be able to do it much faster next time... which I'm sure is right around the corner! Thanks again! Kevin
Thanks for sharing! I ordered the part you posted, with full trust in you (lol I didnt even check) pump has been replaced and washer is fixed. That rubber gasket ring was definitely a pain in the ass. It did just come right off though with a little tug of a needle nose pliers. Getting it on was the difficult part. I just used 2 hard plastic scrapers and used them to slide the bottom on while my wife held the sides in place.
The last time I installed the gasket ring without the tool, I thought I would lose my mind. Even with the tool it can be a little tricky but much much easier! I had to get my wife involved too. It was simply hateful. Thanks for watching our video and sharing your experience! It means a lot to me to hear feedback. Hope you will visit our channel again soon. Kevin
Hi, Thanks for the video!! I appreciate it. I just ordered the pump. I will try to replace the pump from the bottom and not open anything, will let you know how it goes when the parts arrive. Thank you very much for taking the time to document and help us
Wonderful! You made my day. Mine worked too. I will never remove that gasket again!!!! Thanks for taking the time to let me know it worked out for you! Hope you will visit the channel again soon! Kevin
I'm glad this helped. Each time I need to do, I watch the video too. The last time I did it, I found one of my wrenches! Thanks for watching and sharing your comment! Kevin
Use flat head to pry off spring from rubber casing. Does not take much force if you run the screw driver along the side. Worked well for me. Thanks for the video!
Were you able to get the ring back on easily? I struggled with it for a long time the last time I did it so I bought the tool. Recently I had to do this again and I went through the bottom... That turned out to be a much easier repair. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! Kevin
Thanks Kevin! It took us a while and I had to get help with a couple of stubborn screws, but the washer is working again! Only one screw left over at the end! ;)
If you are like me, we have a junk drawer full of old bits and pieces... And sometimes they find their way back to the original project they came from... other times, not so much. Thanks for watching and leaving your comment! It means a lot to us! Kevin
@@MillGapFarms Oh, we do have a junk drawer! But the spare screw goes to live in the barn in the wood shop. Maybe it will get used sooner!? Also we just cleaned out the inlet filters, which would be a great short vid for folks that have hard water, if you're ever looking for another topic. :)
You are very correct on the inlet filter. Ours is no longer gunked up... we added a softener and its really helped out. Thanks for the suggestion! Kevin
Please accept my apology Ms. Wilder. I did not see your comment. Our water softener is in our basement and is installed before the water splits and goes to the hot water and the cold water to the house. There are some kits that you can buy on amazon that will tell you the harness of your water. Here is a test strip that will help you understand your water better in regards to hardness. amzn.to/3L8v2CW This version tests a little more and it might give you a better idea as to how much iron you have in your water. amzn.to/3Sj9rMb For the best understanding do a water test at your local health department or independent lab. Again, I apologize for missing your comment. Thanks for watching our video and posting your question. Kevin
Great video, I found out I would never wat to be a washing machine repair man. I think you did a killer job on fixing that washer, seems like I never have much luck in that department.
For me it was a game changer. Have you seen my latest pump change video. I did it from the bottom. I can't say that it will be easier, especially if you have not changed one of these before but since I've done this so many times, I knew where the screws were located. Doing it from the bottom is easier and I didn't have to mess with the seal! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EFnyEKGAAd4.html Thank you for watching my yoga video! Kevin
Thanks for watching our video and leaving your comment. It means a lot to hear from folks that benefited from it. Every time I replace the pump on ours, I watch it again too. Thanks Kevin
I had to go back to the video because I forgot what I had going in the background. The music should have been a bit louder in this video. I could barely hear it. Thanks for watching and leaving your comment. It's the little details that others notice that make doing these videos fun. Hope to see you on the channel and in the comments more. Kevin
I WAS ACTUALLY HAVING BECKS-E-BY AT MY LOCAL DENNY'S DINER OF T-BONE STEAK WHEN I DID THAT SMART ALEX COMMENT. PLEASE DON'T CHANGE A THING, THAT TUTORIAL HAS HELPED ALOT. ONE OF THE OFFICE GIRLS AT WHERE I WORK HAD THIS ISSUE WITH HER STUPID KENMORE He CLOTHES WASHER. I HATE ALL THESE NEWFANGLED THROW-AWAY CRAP MACHINES. FOUND THAT PUMP ON AMAZON PRIME BUSINESS, CHEAP....
I did not take it that way. I have another video very similar to this one... because the washer pump has died multiple times... whether I buy OEM or off amazon, the pumps only last us about 1.5 years. I've done this so many times, I can now do it in about 45 minutes... Not something I'm proud of but certainly glad I can get it done fast. Thanks for watching and commenting again. If you have time, watch some of our other bad videos on the channel... some will leave you scratching your head I'm sure. Kevin
Kevin, great video. I used it and got my washer torn down, pump.rplaced and put back together inside of 2 hours. Thought I was pretty slick. The problem, though, im still getting a DE code. Drain line and filter are clear, any ideas? Really tired of baling 6 gallos of water with every test run.
I don't think I mentioned this in the video but have you pulled the filter? There could be something in there? Another thing to do is reset the pc board. Here is a video to how I do it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-viKY99zFQCE.html Let me know if this works. BTW we don't live in an area without cell reception. I'm making hay today and will check back throughout the day for comments. Thanks Kevin
Yes it can. I had a viewer who repaired washers tell me that. Next time I do it, I'll try it myself. about the only thing that I see as a challenge is finding all the screws and taking off the clamps. From the front it is very easy to see all of that. Thanks for watching and asking your question. Kevin
Glad it was helpful Edgar Fierro. I've put a few of these on and each time it gets a little easier. Not fun but easier. One time I found my lost socket! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Kevin
Buddy I'm a appliance technician. To fix all your water issues from getting all over the floor and yourself. Buy a wet dry shop vac open up the front door empty inside the washer 1st from clothes and all water sitting inside it. Then open up filter at bottom at drain pump and slowly open up cap to catch it without getting water everywhere glad to help u out
What a great suggestion. I don't know why I didn't think of this!!! I have 2 shop vacs and both work well with water too... but apparently not this kind of water...right? Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. As much as I hate to say it, I'll be fixing this again in about 1.5 years... Kevin
Glad to help buddy . Hey when we're in there getting it done sometimes the stress gets the best of us. Don't beat yourself up over it. We live and learn. I had to get dirty to learn myself.
Thanks for watching our video Tonyromano4341. The first time I got the "OE" code, I tried to clean out the filter. It had scale from our hard water but no major clogs. Then I did what I thought was the next step, install the pump. After getting the pump off it became apparent that the impeller was broken, or at least not working correctly. Every time I do this, it's the same thing. The impeller breaks on the shaft some how. I have lost count as to how many times these pumps have broken on us. I have been keeping one on the shelf for a couple years now. To the credit of the machine, we do a lot of laundry in it. Between living on a farm, two kids we have a b&b we operate here and it's not uncommon to do 5-6 loads a day. Not every day but 4 to 5 days a week we have multiple loads going each day. I don't put a lot of faith in the pumps. LG and Kenmore use the same pump. Thanks for your question. I hope this helps. Kevin
Awesome video, thanks for the in depth video with chapters and associated tools needed. Any chance you have a quick tip or how-to video for accessing a washer underneath a drier without removing the drier? My assumption is no, remove the drier and follow the video, but worth a shot before i wrestle with the drier up top. Thank you in advance!
Carmen, Thanks for watching and asking your question. It sounds like you are using these as stackable units. We don't as you can tell from the video. There is a comment where a gentleman shares that he did it from the bottom. I think that is totally possible. Of course you have to get to it. If your washer could be pulled away from the wall (guessing it's against one) you could lean them backwards against a wall and work from the bottom. I would try this myself but before I did, I would make sure to secure the bottom so it doesn't kick out towards the front farther. Something that holds the units from moving is necessary. In my mind, the units could kick out and land on their back. Most likely damaging where the hoses go. Then you've got a bigger problem. The next time I need to replace our pump, I'm going to try to access it from the bottom. No need to take off the gasket if I don't have to. I think you would need to be adventurous to change the pump with the washer on top. If you do it, take a video or a photo and email to us. www.millgapfarms.com. I would love to learn for your experience. Thanks Kevin
Awesome, thanks for the replay and thanks again for the awesome video! I ended up getting the drier down and repairing the washer once it was down, took about 3 hours. This video was awesome and it saved me about $700! Thanks a bunch!
U can but it's very tight and if you don't know what your looking for with clamps and all then how he's doing it is the way . But yes u can do it from the bottom
If you have the same machine as we do, there is only one pump. Put a towel under the washer where the filter is located and remove your filter. It sounds like you have a blockage there. Thanks for watching our video. Hope this helps. Kevin
Most definitely. Here is a video the last time I did it... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EFnyEKGAAd4.html Thanks for asking. Let me know how your repair turns out. Kevin
Well done Gochefs5. I did a video on removing it from the bottom not too long ago. It worked well for me too. Having done it through the front definitely prepared me for locating the screws from the bottom. Here is that video...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EFnyEKGAAd4.html Thanks for watching and sharing your experience! Kevin
You don’t need a tool for the front spring u can pop it out with a screwdriver I’ve done hundreds I use a needle nose to put it back that tool is for 5he rear spring
I have popped out the spring with a screwdriver. And it seems the devil tested me on the needle nose pliers... a couple times. So I bought the tool and it was worked flawlessly ever since. I would love to see how you are using you pliers to get those back on. That would be one nifty video that I would be glad to post for you. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Kevin
There is certainly more than one way to get this done. Would you mind sharing that video in the comments of this one. We could all learn from that. Thanks for watching! Kevin
Hi Americanpride1100, Thanks for watching and offering advice. I've only done this 4 or 5 times so far... and one time about 3 weeks ago. How can you access the faceplate screws with the top on? Having done this a couple times, I can now do it in less than an hour. The first couple times, not so much. I would love to learn how to reduce that time even further. Thanks Kevin
Thanks for watching and leaving your thoughts! I did a video just the way you suggested and worked like a dream. I got the pump out and the new one installed in less than an hour. Great suggestion! Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!! Kevin
Thanks Daniel Shinsky for watching our video. I don't think in this video that I took the door off. I think I took off the front pane that included the door. I watched the video again and I don't see the need to remove the door. In fact, down in the comments for this video a viewer suggested going through the bottom and not taking off the door and gasket. I'm definitely going to try that next time I need to change out the pump. Thanks for watching and leaving your comment. Kevin
