After cleaning my motorcycle (see Bath Day video • Bath Day - 2023.03.18 ) I discovered that my Viking Saddle bag was worn in an unexpected way. To prevent further wear I decided to purchase and install myself a set of saddle bag racks from Motea.com.
The installation was not difficult. My main hesitation when thinking about this was messing with the upper retaining bolt for the rear suspension. I was always afraid that the rear suspension would be under tension, but I learned that as long as there is no weight on the rear wheel one can remove the upper rear suspension bolt easily.
Unfortunately, when torquing the rear suspension bolts up to 28 Nm, I over torqued the first bolt I tried to torque and I sheared off the head of the bolt. It took about 3-days to drill the bolt shaft and to find a tool that cold bight into the broken bolt and allow me to remove it.
I bought a new bolt from my local Triumph dealer, Cascade Moto (www.cascademoto.com), and verified the 28 Nm torque requirement. New bolt installed and both bolts now torqued properly I am ready to install the new saddle bags in an upcoming video.
