I fix my Echo srm 2100 today also. But I bought a cheap $15 kit from Amazon. My kit came with a Carb Filter Plug gaskets and extra Primer Bulbs and Gas Filter. I had my doubts when I bought it. It took me 10 minutes to install everything. Then I fired it up one pull. It ran like new. Mind you it was sitting in my shed for years. And I got it from a buddy who had it for years.

I love your technique on mowing & trimming this yard , my yard had grub warms so my yard is a little on dormant from grub granulated but i haven’t given up and absolutely enjoy watching you do other people lawns!

Hey Dan great video brother I've been doing lawn service for 35 years and I'm starting to get cts on my hands and arthritis its been terrible man I bought an echo articulated hedge trimmer with a 2620 engine which is marvelous but weight to me now is very important so I went to home depot on Friday and got a brand new srm225 took the engine out swapt it on my articulated hedge trimmer and wow what a difference in weight my hedge trimmer guy loved it he trimmed hedges all day long with it and didn't feel fatigued like he used to my mechanic has told me landscapers get years out of these units and I'm very surprised and pleased our weed eaters are all 2620 echos and there pretty light weight but as hedge trimmers we are going to be using the 225 for sure from now on and for the price you can't beat it.

Besides tossing the screen... remove the muffler from the trim. Bore a hole near the bottom of the muffler from one chamber to the other. It will reduce the back pressure and give the engine more breathing

For those asking about the ECHO SRM-225 trimmer, I have used one for two years and its a great trimmer, its a little weak in tough grass/weeds. The 2320T has a gear reduction for more power and the larger power head 2620 comes with the 1.62 & 2.0 gear reduction with a commercial engine priced at 100 bucks more than the home use 225. I run the srm225 for two hours cutting grass and weeds in the rough areas, it uses about a quart of gas, never had any problems with the trimmer.

For the 225, I would definetly use smaller .080 round line. Will help the smaller engine run with more pep

I purchased a 225 this spring...my .local stihl dealer is about to retire so I decided to try the echo dealer....for weekly trimming I love the 225... Nice and light weight too.....5 year warranty also

Good video Dan. Most spark plugs are pre-gapped at the factory to .030 which is a standard gap for most equipment (sometimes .025).

Love your videos man! Removing the screen to improve performance is debatable. Remove or don't remove it, up to you. The one reason I don't recommend it for most, is that removing the screen will change the jetting/tune slightly....probably make it run a touch leaner, which we all know isn't really good. If you know how to re tune, then no big deal. A quick tip if you want to clean the screen and reinstall it......hold it over a lit propane touch with a pair of needle nose pliers, and it will clean all that soot off in about 5 seconds! Keep up the great videos.

Great video dan. That’s what I use too. I also have the same motor as my edger the PE225. They are the cheaper ones out there but work just fine Also, you said you don’t think you have the speed feed. You should have the speed feed head they come with it stock

Safety features (like spark arresters) are built into equipment and designed so that people who have to be reminded to breathe can operate them. But mainly it's for a company wanting to cover it's ass against lawsuits!

IF you cut too of the blade off at each cutting. It will dry out the blade of grass. Proper mowing is twice a week and apply some water to replenish lost moisture due to the cut end. But if you don't want a heathly looking golf course lawn then... cut it whenever... 🤷‍♂️

Do you think the PAS225 system would be strong enough for a part time lawn service ? I have a stihl FS90R and thought the PAS system would be a cheaper route to get other attachments vs buying a dedicated edger and hedge trimmer and trimmer.

Also some echos has a catalytic converter in the exhaust. Remove the whole muffler off the engine and clean it through. When it's durty it boggs and won't Rev up

Means it is running rich, carb may need adjusting. Also 2 cycles will do that if running low RPM’s a lot.

Robert Johnson I just got one a couple months ago and did a full review on my channel. I love it. Huge upgrade from my old ryobi. It’s more than enough power if you are just a typical homeowner, heck even some pro guys run these full time without any issues.

You’d be best informed if you go to a Echo services shop and ask them but my first thought is it would not be cost effective. Brand new Echo edgers are inexpensive. Buying parts is always costly

Thanks for all the advice. But I had a Poulan pro sitting in my pile of weed eaters to fix, so I fixed it and bought the $90 edger attachment. All I can say is wowsers. I have a southland walk behind I bought off craigslist a couple months ago for $100. But this stick edger is the bomb. It is faster and much easier to control. I did my lawn and the neighbors lawn in minutes. Stick edgers are the best hands down. I'm one happy camper.
